Confrontation between Marines and Sicarios leaves 7 criminals dead in San Jose del Cabo, BCS

Translated by Otis B Fly-Wheel for Borderland Beat from a Zetatijuana article

Subject Matter: Authorities confront sicarios in Los Cabos
Recommendation: No prior subject matter knowledge required

On the night of this Saturday 6th of January, in the town of Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, in colonias like Zacatal, Las Veredas, Costa Dorada and Santa Rosa, of San Jose del Cabo, was a scene from a real battle field.

Sources of information revealed to Zeta that the Armed Forces and sicarios had confrontations in these localities, that left seven sicarios dead.

The Marines came up against an armed group that were really well armed. The confrontation reflected what they could see coming, what we saw was common and was a reaction of the armed forces to criminals, commented an agent of the Secretariat of Public Security.

For a start, the criminal cell that the armed forces confronted had weapons for exclusive use of the military, as well as tactical jackets and radio communication equipment.

Data obtained by Zeta, referred to the fact that the armed commando opened fire on the military forces after confronting them.

"Comrades say that these people are also involved in the uprising and murder of the son of one of the police commanders in the municipality of San JoseLos Cabos. We will have to wait to see if the investigations prove us right", said the State element. So far we only have the confirmation of seven sicarios killed, as well as the confiscations of an arsenal of weapons and tactical equipment.

The BCS government gave out the following press release.

The State Attorney Generals Office (PGJE) reports that at approximately 20:20 hours on Saturday January the 6th, it learned that in the Costa Dorada neighborhood in San Jose del Cabo, firearm detonations were heard by elements of the Secretary of the Navy who were carrying out surveillance tours of this area.

According to the primary investigations it was clear that elements of the Navy were sent to the mentioned sub division, they saw two vehicles, the first was a Toyota Tocoma colored olive green, with plates of 6KFU957 of the State of California USA, on board were three men with tactical vests and apparently rifles of type AK47, and a second gray Hyundai wagon, on licence plates 7XNT832 from State of California USA, with four male persons in tactical vests and rifles.

For this reason, elements of the Navy called on them to stop, however both trucks fled on the trans peninsular highway in the direction of Cabo San Lucas, the chase starting from the Costa Dorado colonia.

Two units of the Navy with elements on board were pursuing both vehicles, a few meters from reaching the Santa Rosa colonia, the crew of the Tocoma pickup began firing on the armed forces, who to safeguard themselves and others, repelled the aggression, the occupants of the Tocoma pickup lost control of the vehicle and impacted a wall, after crashing the occupants again fired against the armed forces.

The other vehicle, the Hyundai managed to enter the Santa Rosa colonia, and on the corner of Calle Candelaria, they hit a concrete wall, the armed men descended from the vehicle and fired on the Marines, who received direct bullet impacts into their front windshield. The Marines descended from their own vehicle and returned fire killing all four aggressors. The Marines gave immediate calls for paramedic units to attend who confirmed that all four were dead on arrival.

Semefo experts were ordered to remove the bodies for forensic examination and autopsy. On La Paz Avenue, 3 AK 47 rifles were confiscated, with extra magazines. Two tactical vests were recovered along with the vehicle which had been stolen from Tijuana.

Also in San Antonia between Candaleria and Cabo Pulmo, in the Santa Rosa colonia, 3 AR15 type rifles were confiscated along with an AK47 rifle and a .45 caliber handgun, some spare magazines, and 2 tactical vests with a gray Hyundai vehicle, also a Dodge Ram Line vehicle colored blue with State Police logos with circulation places BS-035A-1BCS.

  1. One more ambush on the melitary where all the ambushers die shooting it out with the melitary while trying to escape with their windows and doors closed up. Unencroyable!
--To make sure, the marinas shot up their own windshield in cold blood.

    1. Whoever was driving the last police vehicle probably shouldn't have made it with two shots dead center. But wait....I guessing the vehicle was stationary with no one behind the wheel when the police staged the crime scene with their shot up vehicle and the dead sicarios.

    2. Ambush on the military?

They were driving on a road and hit a checkpoint..

    3. And again the perpetrators of "the ambush" ran away shooting at the poor surprised melitary riding in state police troques with their own windas all the way UP...
The marinas using POLICIA ESTATAL squad cars and troques to do their own little extra judiciary murdering, maybe obtain two almost new luxurious cars, could they also dress up the "sicarios" in cammo before sending them running for their lives? Only if they needed to stage some work being done...

  4. Reading through, youd think the policia and militares are very responsive to threats by delinquents.

  5. How come federales never have casualties???

    1. Your average sicario has had very little training, is probably coked up , and has not spent a lot of time flinging lead downrange in scenario training. Hence they tend to get wiped out by Federal Forces, who have at least been trained to shoot, centre mass with elbows in and not chicken winging.
Sicarios for the most part like a bit of full auto, which is useless in nearly all scenarios except point blank range against multiple targets.
In nearly all the engagements I see reported, the authorities have the force multipliers, helicopter backup, coordination centers for troop movements, greater numbers in firefights allowing fire superiority.

    2. Also the Mexican government purposely suppresses information on killed soldiers or marines for propaganda purposes

    3. The casualties of marina never get to public

      Delete
    4. They never public when the Marinas take hits for obvious reasons. They dont want them spooked around the country. When they almost got Chapo the time they claimed he broke his leg, Marina got repelled when Chapos sicarios supposedly shot down two boludos. Someone was lying when that whole story came out and we all know Chapo never broke his leg so..

    5. @Otis..very true. I am active in local shooting sports, 3 Gun, IPDA, etc.I tell people that start to get cocky when they start packing guns.

Driving an AMG does not make u Lewis Hamilton, banging ur gf does not make u a porn star, nor does carrying a gun with a vest on make u a true gunfighter.

    6. Because they shoot straight and wear full body armor

    7. The "SICARIOS" are aware of their lack of experience and training, they know better than to fight it out with the polesias or soldiers, and they will always run away from deadly encounters, but if they crash or surrender they are most likely getting executed.
It is real easy, on the US Deanne Choate, 54, murdered by police officers after being found asleep, naked and told to produce he gun, they were found Not Guilty, it gets easier with practice, in Mexico they got PhDs in mass murdering now.

    3. The world is a mess...and the US has travel warnings against its own hot spots. Your sleepy surf town is my town for 24 years now... and you can still surf the breaks but with 30 other guys in the line up - surfers are not targets. I think it's great they took them out. They just let them out if they go to jail. they chose their field of work.

    4. Agree...problems all over the world. I live in Cabo now for 24 years and my husband lives to surf and freedive...we still have our paradise. He doesn't surf in Santa Rosa.

    5. Hola cheryl Amiga, we have made sure that readers know that Cabo does not mean cabo san lucas specifically. We specify exactly which area...as you know 99% of the narco violence is in san jose.

Another point, the state department which is usually overly cautious have no restrictions on travel, clubs etc for government employees. In Coahuila, "my
state there is a restriction for all cities except Saltillo, and Coahuila is relatively quiet at this point in time. Know before you go what is happening, don't ever "do stupid" like getting sloppy drunk especially off the beaten path, stay in resort areas. Stay away from ATMs as much as possible, use banks or hotels for cash. Use licensed certified cabs, Register with the consulate including your itinerary. etc etc

  7. Otis in your personal opinion is it a good thing they kill them all or do you think taking them to court is what should be done and why? I think where it me id try to wound and capture one or two and being Mexico id beat info out of the ones id capture and then let them bleed out before calling paramedics.

    1. In my opinion they should follow their rules of engagement. If during a firefight they follow those rules and the sicarios die, then I dont have a problem with that. I suspect the sicarios know, that if they give themselves up, their families will be killed. So a lot go out shooting as they have no choice.
I dont agree with extra judicial killing by armed forces, that in principal makes you judge jury and executioner, and the law is the law and these people deserve due process if they can be taken alive. Nobody should be deprived of life, liberty or property without due process.
Nearly all forces, police, army , navy, are all trained to shoot center mass. Unfortunately there is a lot of arteries, the heart , and the pulmonary arteries in this area. This equates to a low recovery rate if you are shot in this area while not carrying plates.

      Delete
    2. @Otis lmao chicken winging that's gold. What kind of vests do the sicarios wear? I'm sure they're not equipped with trauma plates right?

      Delete
    3. Mostly what Ive seen is cat 3 kevlar vests. Only good for stopping handgun rounds, but I suppose that is better than nothing. I have seen a few pictures of top level sicarios carrying plates, but for the most part they just wear tactical vests and webbing which offer pretty much no protection

      Delete
    4. The Mexican melitary or polesias are not going to dress up their prey in expensive bulletproof vests or any armor, before releasing them for the practice hunt, I am sure there is plenty army surplus from real wholesale second hand vendors in mexico, and they supply criminals too, if they got the ca$h.

      Delete
    5. No real body armor is needed when there is nobody to be left alive.

  8. AND they confiscated a Policía Estatal Dodge Ram, HA.......nice going Marinas.

  9. police might not been so much better trained then these "teen sicarios". You can also achive a lot in a few months with training. But against military units - 7:0 is the outcome.

Are there any pics of the tacoma, i dont buy that story.
The hyundai never crashed into the wall, e.g. no airbags. They tried to leave the car and run away but got killed on the spot.
where were the halcones to inform local crews about police and military beeing in the area?

Marina got intel, set the ambush, sicarios tried to run but no one is faster then .223

Sorry for beeing OT but you must watch the sicaro 2 "soldado" trailer. thats pretty damn like mexico.

    1. Cjng has been almost wiped out of baja guy. Cjng lets the whole world know when they do their dirt, after Chapos arrest CDS/Cartel del Pacifico is laying low letting them get the heat. Look at Colima. 7 murders yesterday with no cjng banner which means they got their ass handed to them there too.

    4. 4:13 the zetas and the jaliskas can't finish the job on each other in Veracruz because both are polesias estatales masquerading as the ones or the others as needed. THINK DIRTY,

  12. I’m sure many are making the assumptions of another execution by military. An unwarranted response of deadly force.

My point to this; regardless of who is killed nothing changes. Rebuttals and discontent from both sides ( Good Guys , Bad Guys) always seem to follow.

Government / citizens can’t seem to get a break from eradicating unwanted people.

The melitary are all bent on consolidating their newly acquired "police powers" to better exploit Mexico and the mexicans, and do what they do best, rob, rape, murder and disappear with official impunity...
--Secretary of national defense Salvador cienpedos said in public on the microphone the armed forces did not ask for this police job they are not trained in or were trained to do...
Many melitary were trained to kill and disappear at night and that they do with reckless abandon to prove they are needed.

  14. Story said all 7 sicarios were killed in the fire fight. However, the 2nd photo montage, lower right corner, appears to show the Marinas leading a person away. Can't tell if he was a prisoner as he was not cuffed. If he was a sicario, he should have been turned over to local authorities.

  15. Could someone explain the point of the conflict in Los Cabos?

As a resident, and both a former Infantry Officer and Police Officer, I take specific interest in the military and police response.....one of the Marine staging areas is also very close to where I live.

As I see it, Los Cabo is a fatal funnel/meat grinder for the Narcos. Movement is severely limited by geography. Once identified, it would be extremely difficult to make an escape - especially if caught in the corridor between Cabo and San Jose.

Perhaps I'm naive, however, the drug trade couldn't be that lucrative to sacrifice almost a Battalion's worth of Narco foot soldiers over the past two years? Certainly, with lots of new construction, there's potentially a few thousand new low income blue collar customers, but other than that, what's changed? Certainly Los Cabos isn't a transportation corridor for drugs to move North.

Further, with military guarding the airports, the ferry terminal in La Paz and numerous checkpoints on the single road down the Baja, to even make it to this new 'battlefield' must take extreme effort and planning.

Final point....would love to know the background to these seven that were killed. Recent arrivals from the mainland? Long term residents that were recruited?

    Anyone with insight?

    1. 7:20 Well, Mister E 42 aka "pissed off gringo" you are welcome,
THINK not of what Los Cabos do for you, but of what you can do for Los Cabos if some unwanted Cabooses get cleaned out of the place, all that tourism billion dollar investments can attract,
And with some rich tetra-billionaires demanding the shithole be cleaned and sterilized or the deal won't progress, that makes it worth investing in a few sitting ducks with brand new hyundays murdered by the marinas riding trokes de la Polesia Delictiva Estatal.
Club and resorts deals have fallen before they got through these kinds of shitholes because of bad propaganda this kind of dead perps give the places.
--Look how pretty Panama looks after Noriega?
--BRAZIL, beautiful, ow it is fu of antique car hunters
--Cuba, looking better, but wait until raul Castro is gone and his guerrillas are finally exterminated.
      --Acapulco as competition is gone.
--Cancun is getting roasted for the traditional tourist pederastia, prostitution, money laundering, and drug trafficking, protected by corrupt politicians.
--Puerto Rico failed in its pursuits of modern global tourism before the hurricanes hit it, but not before investING a few more millions of dollars in "trump management" fees.
--Chicago spent BILLIONS AND BILLIONS of dollars in beauty projects getting ready for the "Impossible Olympics" and failed because of Chicago Crime, but the hood was left BEAUTIFIED for trump tower Chicago at no cost to the "developer", billions were also spent cleaning up the hood of hood rats and gangs and drugs and hoes to make it a respectable neighborhood for the TO.
Crime goes on, but the tower is protected, I am sure Chicago police, fire fighters and city, state and county unions have invested their pensions there, (whatever the government did not compromise) and their savings...other investors get scammed with casinos.
Los Cabos were named by name by investors with big promises before they went bankrupt and died in the vine, but not before someone stole or misspent initial investments.
Looks like if Russia doesn't finance with about 2p% direct ownership in exchange for using the name, it doesn't work...
Others must have been learning the way of the deal, because there are as many copy cats as there are criminals with boots.
