Tamaulipas State Police Commanders receive training from the United States

Reporter: Benito Lopez
With resources from the Merida Initiative, 63 Commanders of the Tamaulipas State Police received training from certified instructors sent by the United States.

The training focused on front line leadership to deal with better strategies for organized crime. The head of Political and Economic Affairs of the United States Consulate in Matamoros, Jose Gutierrez, said that this was the first of its kind since the creation of the bi-national security support program.

"The project seeks to provide training to the front line supervisors, and is a joint effort between the United States and Mexico to strengthen security and support the development of Police in Tamaulipas", he said.

Gutierrez, who attended the closing ceremony of the Front Line Supervisor Course, said that the administration of former President Egidio Torre did not achieve greater cooperation in Police training, such as the one with the new Government has.

"Before with the State Government there was not so much input, but now with the new Governor, Francisco Garcia Cabeza de Vaca, has allowed entry and this is a course that had not been done before, but we are already starting and this year I hope we can expand", the American Diplomat said.

After recognizing that much remains to be done in the area of Police training, the head of the State Public Security Secretariat, Luis Felipe Lopez Castro, said that these agents are those who face daily insecurity situations in the course of their surveillance tasks.

    1. It's happening here in the US . Crooked police officers stealing, kidnappings and reselling confiscated drugs. Furthermore investing ill- gotten money from such practices in restaurants and sports bars.
Think of a policemans yearly salary! It's not rocket science. Do the math!

    4. On the back of their jackets, the state police officers read FUERZA TAMAULIPAS,
People accuse them of being FUERZA DELICTIVA TAMAULIPAS, formr policias federales friends of the governor and of course, whole life times of criminal corruoption imposing themselves on the people wherever they go with their extortions, kidnappings, ransom demands, planted evidence, and extrajudiciary executions, the people has spoken,
but of course, nobody is supposed to listen.
FUERZA Delictivas tamaulipas imposed itself on governor viejidio Cantu, along wita wave of crime and murdering among "drug traffickers, to thin the herd" now it is time to consolidate.

  6. As good as this is to train them. What are the chances they are also training a few cops that work with the cartels? Guess they have to take the good with the bad if it turns out a few of those US trained cops are cartel members.

  10. I'm glad to see BB readers are hip to the absolute disaster this training will inflict on the people of Mexico if/when these soldiers turn. Too bad the US government and generally ignorant US masses have no idea. Keep doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome is crazy!

But I will always cheer for people like you.

  11. Is it the 'Merida' or the 'Mierda' one?
    What has it accomplished?
The local police forces are integrated with the cartels, press is silenced, and courts do no prosecute/convict.
The military is a killing machine, and the marines have lots of notches on their belts for dead/captured capos.
Flawed policy and endemic Mexican corruption refusing to change.

    3. El H did not have this kind of Desmadre in Guanajuato or Queretaro, but the facking government had to bring him down,
I don't see how stealing hydrocarburos can have anything to do with murdering people everywhere, of course the invisible pipes everywhere can't be seen by the police, the military or the industrial police,

  17. Almost all of you sound like you take for granted how good we have it in America. This is but a baby step in the right direction that the US has taken in aiding her neighbor. Of course there are risks, but they do not outweigh the benefits. OjO

  21. Huge fan of the meridian initiative. But it's about dam time they gave them training from instructors instead of just money for guns and bombs. Continue to give them training for the commanders along with maybe even u.s operators.

    1. 9:59 independent contractors have been in mexico for a while now, but they have also been on the US, some of them operating out of Chicago and in chicago are the reason ofany abuses of power and irrational murdering of minorities, because they are being trained to kill at first sight, chicago alone has paid about 500 million dollar settlements to victims of police brutality, but there are a lot of murders that have not been punished, some of those contractors may even be training gangbangers to heat up and steal plazas, becausee they are getting more and more sophysticated in their lives as criminals.

  22. This may be an American ploy to gather the names and pictures of the state police force, since we all know the corruption within the ranks runs rampant.

    ReplyDelete

    1. First, the US does not care about internal corruption of Mexico's police force (no jurisdiction). Second, the US has trained Mex police force for at least two decades. Third, the names are readily available withou using this "ploy".

    2. 6:54 the real ploy has been showing its results for the same 20 years, a soft coup d'etát being carried away in mexico with the help of all the sicarios and mexican government and their law enforcement, all a bunch of criminals.
