Tijuana: 5 executed in Zona Norte

5 executed in Zona Norte

In a small room between Primera and Miguel F. Martinez streets in Zona Norte, a grim stash house of sorts, a man clings to life.  His associates, friends, perhaps family lay dead, between the floor, and and the bleak furnishings, a few battered couches.  Blood leaked from their wounds, all head shots, one or two apiece, spreading out onto the floor.

Three women and two men, executed, ambushed, likely betrayed.  All 9mm shells, no signs of heavy weapons, long rifles.  They were part of a narco retail cell operating in La Zona.  The kind of group that bears both the blame, and burden for many of the constant killings and mutilations, severed limbs, and bullet holes, weaving in and out of flesh, hot bullet shells dancing across victims insides.

These killings were different then the public executions, shootouts in bars, clubs, mariscos stands, these people saw their killers, and interacted with them before they were killed.  Single shots mostly, no signs of torture, or bounding have been reported.  More then one, to retrain, and to kill 5 people, without problems. At least 3.

They may have thought they were going to leave.  They were either surprised, lured, or betrayed. They may have begged, pleaded, confessed. They may have stood defiant to the end.  They may have anticipated the shot, as the deafening crack of gunshots echoed across the room, flinched before the bullet pierced their skin, into the back of their skull.

The retail cells are many, tentacles of larger cells, dispersed all through Tijuana, esp in La Zona.  The family and group of the fallen El Mono, Manuel Luis Toscano, known as Los Iqualos, still maintains a presence.  The people of Los Aquiles have a certain degree of control.  The people of CTNG, formerly under 'El Gross' operate.   It is simply the largest retail market in the city.

The Red Light district attracts sex tourism from San Diego, and internationally, sending hundreds to the bars and brothels that line the area.  Meth and heroin are sold at a retail level to the desperate addicts of Zona Norte, whose addiction consume them, fuel blood and violence across the city. "Globitos" small quantities of crystal and heroin are packaged, labeled, and sold by the retail cells, who in turn pay plaza, and buy product from a larger group.

Most all of us, are more then what we do, more then what we have done, or will do, and complexity and humanity lays behind the killings and brutality.  There are very few truly evil people.  It is undeniable though that in death, what we leave behind can represent us, our desperation, our fears, our failures.

-Maria Guadelupe Ramos Navarro, was 22, bullets struck her neck, and left shoulder.  "Gabriel' was tattooed above her left breast.

-Unknown male victim, single shot behind the ear, another to the jaw, three skulls tattooed on his forearm.

-Unknown male victim, 30-35 years, single shot behind the ear, "Margarita" tattooed on his left breast.

-Unknown female, 40-45 years, single shot to the head.

-Unknown female, 30-35  years, single bullet to the head, behind her ear. "Suerte Puta" tattooed on her chest.

Items found in the room include a 9mm pistol, a box of .22 caliber ammunition, a Truconnect phone, and a glass pipe...

  2. The article sounds more like a fiction crime novel. With its deafening crack of gunfire etc.
Point being is that something went wrong with ill intentions. A stick up or cleaning house for an unknown group. Where drug killings for control and sales in Tijuana is at a year high . Where districts battle for distribution for a group or a cartel. Definitely a known individual to have allowed access. And the killings where not that of a gruesome nature. Quiet discrete and to make a point. Robbery? Take over of district?
Common occurrence nowadays with this drug war. Just somewhat glad that the butchering of one was not the case here. A sense of humanity? Well it's a start.

    3. Sorry if you mistook my judgment from reading.
Not ridiculing. Never my intention. Information and awareness of the tragedies are much appreciated.
      So please forgive the misconceptions.
Thank you for the investigative work and reporting.

  9. I knew the former owner of that building, father Rodolfo Sánchez, a former catholic priest who helped everyone in the neighborhood, As a child I loved to watch the traditional "Nacimiento" He displayed every Christmas. Its really sad to see how much that place changed in all these years.

Serious charities usually leave someone always in charge.

    2. That's an ignorant comment, but its ok. He wasnt a charity, he was Just a man who gave all the profits of his business to these in need around here (he wasnt a priest anymore, just owned a 2nd hand home appliances store). When he became too old to keep his store open, he sold the building to some guy. El padre Sánchez died some years ago in Los Angeles close to his brother's family. I've never met a more honest man than him.

    3. 11:36 stfu! You don't know anything about how the RCC and it's charities work in old Mexico. "Serious" charities are run by priests over there and they don't run away with the money. You can't trust outsiders with money in most third world countries!

    4. Well, on the US, where the money that counts IS, the money gets stolen all the time, and the innocence of thousands of innocent children too, but everybody that can does it too, not just priests.
I hope father Rodolfo Sanchez was really a good man and I apologize in that case, but i wonder why he left the priesthood, retired priests get paid retirement or pensions, don't they?

  15. I guarantee you that the vast majority of those being executed in Tijuana are far from innocent. Some of them switch sides, snitch, steal or commit crimes against innocent members of society. So in reality this act of violence saved an innocent person from being robbed or killed. No loss there...someone did the Tijuanenses a huge favor!

    1. 3:56 somebody could make tijuas another favor and shoot your ass up, there should be courts to handle justice issues, but all the money is spent on "police state resources" to enforce state sponsored terrorism and drug trafficking and extortion.
--I garrantee the tijuas grameros support a whole lot of clean living aristocrats in tijuas like everywhere else in the world.

Vale pa pura madre ya, it's sad really. Pura muerte y droga, corrupcion. Great article bro, saludos desde Palm Ave.

    1. 4:58 Autodefensas could do the job of peace keeping and set law and order and law enforcement, for free, but in mexico that is forbidden, because the government itself is catching a lot of fish by muddling up the muddled waters, greedy federal being exploited by their greedy commanders and same thing with the estatales, municipales and melitares, all that is left is busting each other for the pinchis grameros.

Plus this murder was done by los monitos of CAF they went to get one guy but since there was people there they had no choice but to execute the witness..
