Sinaloa Cartel: Chino Antrax Sentencing

by Chivis Martinez for Borderland Beat
There is an scheduling update in the United States case against Rodrigo Aréchiga Gamboa.  Aréchiga is better known by his Sinaloa Cartel moniker of “Chino Antrax”. He was the one of the founders and leaders of the Sinaloa enforcer group Los Ántrax along with Jesús Peña (El 20). The group operated for and under the direction of Sinaloa Cartel leader Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada.

Aréchiga was arrested on December 30, 2013, while at the Amsterdam International Airport. Dutch police arrested the wanted man,  on behalf of a Interpol warrant issued by the United States. He was subsequently extradited to the U.S. to stand trial, but pleaded guilty after cutting a plea deal.

According to court documents, there was a sentencing date scheduled for January 17th 2017.
“Minute Order by Judge Dana M. Sabraw: Sentence With PSR set for 1/12/2017 10:00 AM in Courtroom 13A before Judge Dana M. Sabraw.”

However on January 9, 2017, there was a request for continuance (postponement) filed by Frank Ragen, the attorney representing Aréchiga, citing additional time needed to prepare.  It was a joint motion filed by both defense and prosecutors. (read filings below)

The motion to Continue Sentencing Hearing  was granted and rescheduled for July 13, 2017.

U.S. District Court
Southern District of California (casd)

333 West Broadway, San Diego, CA 92101

As for Aréchiga’s partner known as “El 20”, (at left) he was arrested in Sinaloa on February 2014.  He is currently incarcerated in Mexico, and has been sentenced.

The Third Unit Court found him criminally responsible for crimes against health, possession of cocaine and marijuana and carrying firearms and possession of cartridges for firearms of exclusive use. Seems they forgave all the killings.

The judge sentenced him to 13 years,  eight months in prison and a fine of 14,448 MNX Pesos or about 710 US dollars.

    1. Chino is by no means broke. He allowed the US government to seize 1 million dollars in assets. So dont go thinking Chino or El 20 are broke cuz they are not and when they get out, they will still have all this money...

    9. They didn't need a guilty plea and a big fine. His case is for drug distribution. They have enough evidence to convict him for life. Drugs and murder. Orgainized crime. They can take every dollar they can find. Chino anthrax isn't gonna come up with tax returns showing legit money. The only reason they would want a guilty plea is if they thought the case was gonna fall apart. This isn't the case. They have a lot on him. Big letters. He was schedualed for trial. He cut a deal. He snitched.

      Delete
    10. You guys apperantly never been in the court system before not because you have a deal does it mean you snitched they probably got the assist that they need or he probably has something against the government.. even though there has been articals saying that chino ántrax will or is one of the people that can testify in court of Beltran or the court system just doesn't have enough money to run such a big case just like el chapos who know many reasons for people to cut deals with the government

He explained his ancestors were from China and had immigrated to Sinaloa a generation or two back. I just thought Chino Antrax might be one because of his face. Thanks for both of your replies.

I wish they did have something on him that would lock him away forever because God only knows how many people he's killed either directly or by his orders... guy deserves life or worse. But he will probably only get somewhere around 10-20 years.

Speaking of which I think Vicente Zambada has almost served his 10 years... he will be out in a couple of years. Once he's done with his US prison term do y'all think Mexico will slap him with more charges to keep him locked up longer?

That's what they did with El Guero Palma.. when El Guero finished his US prison term I thought he would be a free man but he's still locked up in Mexico right at this very moment! Lmao!

Check it out. Since you guys did a weekend in county now y'all believe y'all are Sinaloa cartel lawyers. Not one of you have had a charge like his.
One you did state time 10:09. He's fed. It's very simple. They will offer you a plea deal for three reasonsin the Feds One the trial will cost more than what the conviction is worth. Not on this case. He's looking at a lot of time. I would say life. He was the leader of a well known and doucumented Hit man squad. Reason number 2. They don't have a solid solid case, not enough evidence or witnesses, where they think the case could fall apart. Again not in this situation. Feds have like a 95% conviction rate. throw on some surprise witnesses in and it's game over. These are high profile cases. Not some small nickel and diming crap that y'all got and are trying to compare to this guy. The United States goverment doesn't just give out plea deals to real hardcore gangsters. And y'all wanna talk about ignorance and stupidity. The third and final reason they give out a plea deal is if your a good for nothing dirty rat. Now let me give you. Few indicators. One his sentencing got pushed back. Not a few weeks but almost a year. After they had set up a trail date. They had done all the homework. The DA was ready for trial. There was nooooo reason why not to proceed. Also. He's STILL in protective custody. He's not in general population. And I don't wanna hear about super max. Aaron Hernandez triple murder. High profile. Celebrity. He got into two fights before trial because he was in gereral population. Just cause you have a big case doesn't mean your in the shu. Chino he hasn't been sententenced . Nobody wants to do all there time in the hole. The reason he's in PC. Is because he could be a target for cooperating with the laws. Both parties know it. He is a rat.
So learn what the phack your talking about. I know the system. I did time with Gene Gotti at El Reno Oklahoma FCI.

  38. Mexico is a failed state. Corruption at all levels, narcos rising up from everwhere, constant drug production, use, sales, human smuggling/trafficking, people constantly going missing, etc. It's a shame the Mexican citizens don't love their country enough to band together and fight it. I guess Mexican patriotism stops at hanging a flag on the rearview mirror.
