There have been no less than 10 cases of collateral damage, in the wave of executions in La Paz

The sadly famous "Friday the 13th" of May of this year, had a big impact on public opinion after the death of a youngster in a confrontation between Police and sicarios, unfortunately this is not the only case.

Mega noticias counted more than 280 executions in this war between bands of organized criminals in Baja California Sur in the last two  years, it also published an account of how many were categorized as "collateral damage".



On the 6th of November 2014, in the third military zone during a gun battle in calles Constitucion and Durango, and 7 year old child was injured in the leg.

In a shoot out that occurred on the 5th of April 2015, Jesus and Lucina died, Rosa 61 years old and Angelina 55 years old were injured, when they were travelling aboard a grey colored Honda Element at the La Ardilla gas station at the north exit.

A family were executed in the sub delegation of Chametla, on calles Baja California and Coahuila, a baby was the only survivor but was injured in the arms.

On Calles Kino and Bravo, two people were injured by stray bullets, when an execution was carried out a few meters from the  commercial zone on 31st of August 2015.

On the night of Saturday 5th of September of 2015, two youngsters aged 4 and 8 were shot to death while travelling with their grandparents at kilometre 19 La Paz - Los Cabos near the Meliton Albanez small holdings.

"Victor" was killed by State Police in the a gas station in the tolerance zone, this happened on the sadly famous "Friday the 13th" of May of 2016.

On the 22nd of July of this year, a motorcyclist was crushed when an alleged drug dealer was fleeing from his attackers on calle Marcelo Rubio almost at the corner of calle 5th of February.

On Friday the 29th of July, a man was executed in the "El Bismarkcito" restaurant, on the La Paz waterfront, where a diner was injured by the attack.

On the morning of the 31st of July a man died of a bullet to the head, one of his friends took a bullet in the arm, in the interior of the "Gool Sport Bar".

The last, in the El Mezquitito colonia, a man was wounded in the abdomen when travelling on one the streets, he said he heard a brawl happening, then the next thing felt a bullet hit him.

I was in 'El Bizmarkitos' last June, in the later evening having tacos, kind of touristy compared to some of the really good mariscos spots down the street, or the taco spot deeper in the colonias.....Always eerie to know you were eating somewhere where an execution occurred, though not the first time.
