The Reappearance of Autodefensas in Michoacán

Archive photo

By: Francisco Castellanos J.  | Translated by Valor for Borderland Beat

“The society is fed up again with the government: the arrests of social leaders, such as the CENTE, of students, the 17 women of Múgica protesting today for the change of the City of Women approved by the BID for this zone.  The arrest, first of four classmates who were accused of being criminals, and then 17 more for protesting, in Úspero, for the gradual executions of autodefensas, of civilians, of paying dues; these were the reasons that triggered the decision to rise up again in arms and to ‘go up against the government at any cost’.”

This is the way several commanders expressed themselves, those that still remain in the areas of Coalcomán, Chinicuila, la Costa, Zamora, Jiquilpan, Sahuayo, Tancítaro, Pátzcuaro, Ario de Rosales, Los Reyes, Peribán, Yurécuaro, Aguililla, and 20 other more cities in the state.

Identified as “El Dorado”, the commander said that the current government led by Silvano Aureoles, is allowing another cartel to work, he doesn’t reveal which one, but they’re like Los Templarios, in executions, decapitations with messages, extortions, collecting of quotas, blankets announcing their presence, kidnappings, etc.

“A council of commanders and people who supported the first movement of February 24, 2013, after several meetings with merchants, producers, small manufacturers, not big ones, decided to reunite and soon we will rise up in arms again in order to liberate our people from organized crime.”

“Soon, Aureoles and the federal government of Enrique Peña Nieto will have their ‘little party’, it seems that there is no other way for those who hold power granted to them by the people; they don’t understand any other way besides violence and weapons.”

“This time we are better prepared and we are going to give them a lot of headaches, publish it, that’s why we called you, because we already know you and your media, you followed us in the shootouts, arrests, the taking of towns, and you always published the truth,” that’s why we called you, said another commander of Tancítaro.

In this regard, the founder of the autodefensas of La Ruana, Hipólito Mora Chávez, who endorsed the decision of the autodefensas, was interviewed; but warned, that hopefully this time they won’t let themselves be infiltrated by organized crime, as is what happened the first time, because now those that control the area are the H-3, allegedly led by Antonio Torres, “Simón El Americano” and Los Viagra, allegedly led by the seven Sierra Santana brothers.

“I agree with them.  With what they say.  Another cartel entered our communities.  If it’s going to be right, without filtration, and they invite me, ‘I’ll run into it’,” Hipólito Mora said, with a firm and confident voice.

So, let's hear the condemnation of these vigilantes!!!!

We have the Armed Forces and police in this country still in place.
Protest the will of politicians to enforce the law with what we still have in place.

    2. @1245 They were condemned by white people who were all ultimately fighting over money, jackass, don't conveniently forget that fact.. Look at how those weak ass minute men ended up, and they lasted exactly, a minute, against practically no opposition compared to the bloodthirsty baby raping armed to the teeth in armored vehicle cartels these real vigilantes are facing... You motherfuckers take a couple of Facebook pictures holding a rifle you never shot before and you think you're hot shit and feel like John Rambo, but have never been through a door or into the darkness.. Why you don't you stop running your mouth and go help out these poor people who are in all actuality facing the entire Mexican government when taking on the cartels, oh yea that's right I forgot, no tienes huevos cabron....

    3. Not going to happen, political correctness runs wild and roughshod over truths today. But,there is undoubtedly a need for some kind of rule of law in many parts of Mexico and if the gob wont do it,who will?

    5. 12:45 Although I don't know for sure the agenda for each of these I will not condemn them . The only way it could be bad is if they are fighting evil . As far away as I am , the effect would be small but better . A better Mexico could only be a better world . Mexicos interior problems don't help anybody .
Then on the other hand who are they really . They seem to have the same illegal weaponry that the traffickers have . In earlier articles I know the information that was being put out was they were winning with rabbit guns . Sure probably donations if they are righteous .
Then I hear of all the free medicine and treatment that was proved by the leader north of the border .
Not at all saying this applies but most of the most successful crime bosses have had the same reputation . Think of a few of the big ones . Chapo Capone Escobar Blanco .

    6. American patriot groups seem to be almost totally focused on stopping poverty-stricken Mexicans from entering the U.S. illegally and competing with Americans for low-paying jobs.
The true autodefensas of Mexico are fighting to protect decent hard-working Mexicans from having to pay “protection” money to keep vicious, sadistic criminals from kidnapping, torturing and killing their family members, including even their small children and babies, should they fail to comply.
It is totally laughable that American patriot groups would compare themselves to the true autodefensas of Michoacan, who are fighting for their very lives, and for the right to live without constant fear for the safety of their communities and their families.
      Totally laughable.

    7. 12:45 in America the "patriot groups" are a bunch of red necks, shit kickers, hillbillies and trappers, caught up in the tea party nazi-fascism, and they are defending the border from people that for the most part come to the US to work, menial jobs, that nobody wants to do, some times, the employers force people out of their jobs with provocations, and make them, US citizens "self deport" from their menial jobs...for wanting benefits...
--in mexico, the AutoDefensas are defending themselves from a bunch of criminals supported by the mexican government armed with american weapons and paid for with american taxpayers' money, by the american government, behind the backs of the american people...

Both Policia Nacional de guatemala y colombia have been found to be private hordes of criminal kidnapping .urdering drug trafficling assassins at the service of national criminals in government in their own countries...
Their elements have cried in public, in court claiming innocence, to o ly having been obeying orders from above, like the Chilean Death Caravan of pinochet, the kaibiles of Efrain Rios Montt, in guatemala, the Fuerzas Especiales de AU de Colombia, AU is for Alvaro Uribe who invented "la historia de su pais" to suit his needs, and the pepes (perseguidores de pablo Escobar) all very smart volteadores de tortilla, ripping off the giants of drug trafficking to steal their business and rob and murder everybody else too in their respective country, one at a time as soon as another gets cogido...epn is next...

  9. The so-called Patriot groups are carpetbagging Yankee dipshits that for the most part don't understand border culture. The auto defenses and community police that were evident in my travels on Michoacan coastline 2 weeks ago are from the community and have respect of their neighbors.San Juan de Alima had thousands of visitors over Semana Santa and policias communitarias were patrolling (along with state and federal police)and not even a wiff of trouble.Contrast that with the bloodbath currently happening in Colima and the motivation of the auto defenses is understandable. The people of Coahuayana and Aquila have vowed to never again allow criminal organizations (enabled by government or not)to take over.

I know people from these places will try to lie and say that it's peacefull there (specially Sinaloa ) but it's not true. Mexico is fucked up and Mexicans are scared.
