PGR reports CJNG expansion into the North Border of Baja California

Lucio R. Borderland Beat from El Universal

Cartel Jalisco New Generation (CJNG), one of the organizations with greater financial capacity, headed by  Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, (El Mencho) – has advanced to the border with the United States and in dispute for the plaza of Baja California with the Sinaloa cartel and the Arellano Felix Organization.

According to information from the Attorney General's Office (PGR), the organization has a presence in Mexico City, Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, Guanajuato, Nayarit, Guerrero, Morelos, Veracruz and now in Baja California.

The expansion of CJNG was confirmed after the Armed Forces and federal public safety arrested Marco Tulio Carrillo Grande, “El Marlon”, a former Tijuana municipal police that operated as chief  of sicarios (hitmen) for the Sinaloa Cartel in B.C.

Carrillo Grande, was under the orders of Alfonso Arzate García, “El Aquiles”, leader of the Sinaloa Cartel in Tijuana, who disputed border area with Gabriel Ayala Fonseca, “El Tres Animales”, principal operator of  Cártel de los Arellano Félix.

According to intelligence, and  investigations of the federal government, the three cartels are responsible for the violence in that state, as they clash for control of the coast area, that make up the municipalities of Tijuana, Rosarito and Ensenada.

Gualberto Ramírez Gutiérrez, head of the PGR Specialized Crimes Unit, reported that with a search warrant, they entered a building located on Anastasio Bustamante street, in colonia Ampliación Reforma, in the municipality of  Rosarito Beach..

There Carrillo Grande was arrested.  Carillo Grande was in charge of coordinating a heavily armed commando who broke into an arena in Ensenada last January 23, an act directed against  Ayala Fonseca, operator of the Arellano Felix . (video of shootout below)

"Information was gained, that the attack was a coordinated effort at the  Palenque Ensenada, Baja California, on January 23- in which four people were killed, including two minors and 19 wounded- the attack was directed against one of the leaders of the rival cartel over the dispute for the plaza,” he said.

The official explained that Carrillo Grande served as municipal police of Tijuana in 1995 and was linked to organized crime and crimes against health; in 2010 the military filed an arrest warrant against him.

This alleged hit man was transferred to the Specialized Crimes of kidnapping of the Deputy Attorney Specialized Investigation of Organized Crime (SEIDO).

In the world of the narcos, the vanguard of the invaders always pays a price, many times innocents pay even more, and pappy government does not waste a minute taking somebody down, to protect the new owners of the plaza, el mencho and co. did not just invade baja and the US all by themselves, did they?

  4. My prediction is that this will be El Mencho and CJNG's ultimate undoing. They stayed out of conflicts for a few years and became hugely profitable. But not even if they win the war, it will cause too much fracturing. El Chapo won basically every war he was involved in. In the end, too many people were killed and order was lost inside CDS, this eventually resulted in El Chapo losing his grip over the cartel when the manhunt came around.

    3. CDS had the Arizona and part of new Mexico border after they left Juarez. Then that got disputed by the BLO/CDS war

They "won" Tijuana after 20 years of being informants and are losing 25years of work in 2.5 years.
They tried to take the Juarez Plaza , lost that.
They tried to take the Gulf Plaza and lost that. (Well they managed to strike a deal with one faction)
They stayed as far as they could from Los Zetas.
So the Zetas came looking for them and many times kicked their ass.

Put the pom pom down and be serious not a cheerleader

    8. Dumd ass cds does not run juarez ncdj runs it cds gave up all they did is kill poor people

      Delete
    9. According to newspapers and Juarez authorities CDS is barely alive in Juarez. According to others the city is split with CDS running the south and eastern part of Juarez and the CDJ running the west and northern part of Juarez. Aztecas run the north and western side of Juarez for sure and are really the ones keeping CDJ in the game. CDS seems to be taking some big hits including the capture of ten of their men in the outskirts of Juarez this past week. Its too early to tell if this will cause a major impact on the city.

This was from El Universal, and I added info. You are correct it could be longer, but I have written extensively about the expansion, even when it was a rumor.

Not to mention that last July, the DEA agency released cartel maps of the U.S. and for the first time it revealed CJNG chasing Sinaloa into the west coast.

Its extremely challenging to keep up with the fickle nature of drug cartels in Mexico as one day they are enemies and the next allies. The supply and demand will always be there, but thanks for helping us understand who's in our backyard and who we should look out for.
