Zeta's Comandante Varo Arrested

Lucio for Borderland Beat material from face book, meny times and reforma
Confirmed today is the arrest of Enrique Puga Cortéz

The zeta leader was arrested by military forces yesterday morning in the town of El Mante.
"Staff of the Secretariat of National Defense and Ministry of the Navy detained two criminals, including one identified as one of the main Tamaulipas leaders of the Zetas  criminal group operating in various municipalities in the central part of the state," said an official statement .
Puga Cortéz, known by the monikers  El  Puga, and  Comandante  Varo, was captured yesterday at 6:31 hours in the town of El Mante in an operation during which there were no shots fired.
Puga Cortéz was armed with a .45 pistol.  He was responsible for directing  the criminal activities of Los Zetas in the municipalities of El Mante, Xicoténcatl, Antiguo Morelos, Nuevo Morelos, Ocampo, Gómez Farías and Tula.
In another incident, members of the Secretariat of National Defense on Saturday arrested Apolinar Cuevas, known as El Camarón and identified as a suspected kidnapper, and extortionist, is  a member of the same Zetas group headed Puga Cortez
The arrest was made after an operation implemented in the municipality of El Mante by military personnel, also without firing a shot.
Puga Cortez and Cuevas are responsible for the disappearance of hundreds of people in the central region.

Sinaloa Cartel News: (Maybe?)

Orson Iván Gastélum Cruz, "El Cholo Iván", an operator for the Sinaloa Cartel in the area of
the Evora Valley was arrested in an operation conducted by the Mexican Navy.

The operation was performed by the navy deployed to the state of Sinaloa for over a week, making arrests in Culiacán and Guamuchil.

Orsón Iván Gastélum, "El Cholo", had escaped from jail in Culiacan in  2008 and since then police sources have identified him as one of the main operators of the Sinaloa Cartel, mainly in the area of Mocorito and Salvador Alvarado.

I attempted to locate a mainstream outlet runing this story and couldn't find one.  So this capture is iffy.  I posted it because we have had dozens of requests for information about this story.  But it has not been confirmed.

    4. The poor folks who live in the stretch of road between Victoria and El Mante, Xico and Antiguo Morelos have been living in hell since 2011 when the Zetas started controlling and terrorizing the population. Why there hasn't been more Federal police and military presence in this area to route out and crush these scum is incredible. The gentle people of these region have been victimized beyond belief since the CDG/Zeta split. Like the article stated, "hundreds kidnapped and killed" They take over ranches and rural communities and the people just disappear. So the headline indeed should be the capture of El Pulga. Does anyone know why there is not a major effort by the government to track down the criminals? It is no secret who they are to the local people and driving through this part of Mexico if terrifying.

    1. If she was so powerful then tell me why didnt her bodyguards stop the hitman who whacked her older brother in point blank range. She was present at that party in Cabo. I assume a powerful figure of the underworld like her should have at least 2-4 bodyguards packing heat or not even show up since it would draw the agencies attention. Which smart "powerful" mob figures don't want.

scumbags like these guys being taken off the street, you would think it would somehow
make a difference and justice was being served. "Pure Un-Adulterated B. S." it doesn't matter if they caught 100 of Low lifes like these guys. They are Cockroaches and kill one 50 more pop up! Mexico has to go on the "Offensive" with Vigilante Power!

  17. Maybe el cholo was arrested but is out now with the power of the unofficial amparo of la mordida OR his politician associates have taken care of him.
He can't talk because all his narco-mantas writers have been arrested, AND he is not going to hang a manta with only his fingerprint

  19. The zetas are hated more because like the no-style carwashing tamaleros they are in mexico, or landscapers on the US, they always stealing from others, kidnapping, or relieving others of their property, raping women is their favorite style of romancing, then killing them, in true zeta style...
Then after expanding all over the land, the zetas were the main grameros behind bringing drugs to the masses because they can't go to the US, so they have to live off the land, elite zetas do not pay, halcones, mules or burros must earn their keep AND pay their plaza and piso, that is why the zetas are the more hated brokebacks...
The zetas also have to pay for their troques and weapons at very inflated prices, the leadership needs to kick up their mordidas to the army, federal police and politicians, but the mordidas have turned into plain extortion since genaro garcia luna took over the SSP...with the ''help'' of carlos slim helu, but had been at it since the salinismo started earning points...
--Then you have all the biggest and more powerful private security agencies in mexico, they exact business or exact money from rich and poor, but mainly the rich, the poor are for the zetas...

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Dude! Landscapers and carwashers are for the most part hard working people. They're poor, yes some are criminals like all flocks of life, but hardly any are just pure thieving like you imply. But, Zetas are trash you're right about that wey!
