Mx Goverment puts Arturo Beltran Leyva's 2009 "Posada" House on the market

Chivis Martínez for Borderland Beat
"Party House"
The Mexican government Treasury department, has placed for sale one of the seized properties belonging to the late Sinaloa capo Arturo Beltran Leyva, aka "El Barbas' or 'Jefe de Jefes".

The property has some notoriety, because in December 2009, the house was used for  a lavish "posada" (Christmas party) that ended abruptly due to  the arrival of an operation by the Mexican Navy.  The navy operation was to capture the Capo, but he managed to escape.

At the home  was singer Ray Ayala, politicians, various guests, 40 prostitutes and 11 party organizers.

"El Barbas", escaped arrest. along with Edgar Valdez Villarreal aka "La Barbie and Sergio Villarreal, "El Grande".  La Barbie was one of his most trusted men and was chief of sicarios.

He escaped, after a violent pursuit on the road from Cuernavaca to Acapulco, where his safety shield was led by at least 12  ex-military,  using  assault rifles, a grenade launchers and thousands of rounds to leave a trail of wrecked vehicles and resulted in the death of two federal agents.

SCHP determined that the federation should receive for the property at least  13 million 989 thousand pesos or roughly 1,070,360 USD.  The  property is over 5 thousand 500 square meters, of which  are mostly gardens and open spaces and only 892 square meters in construction.

Note that the price is a starting price for auction type sale.  Prices in the area are 2-75 million USD.

The property's address is  124 del Fraccionamiento Paseo de las Mandarinas, in the subdivision of  Los Limoneros in the town of  poblado de Ahucatepec, located in  upscale Cuernavaca.

Six Days Later
Six days after the party, on December 16th, Beltran Leyva was killed in a confrontation with the Navy in the Altitude complex near the center of Cuernavaca.

It was around  3 pm  a meal was being prepared in apartment number 201, one of the five residential towers called Altitude, located in the Lomas de la Selva, in Cuernavaca, Morelos, where el capo Marcos Arturo Beltran Leyva lived.

He was having a meeting with La Barbie, discussing details to receive a special dinner guest.  It was General Leopoldo Díaz Pérez, head of the Military Zone 24, headquartered in the capital Morelos.

Government forces move in
From noon until shortly before 5 pm on Wednesday 16, more than 100 commandos of the Navy of Mexico began surveillance of the facility and quietly started to evacuate the occupants of the apartments.

The marines began their operation equipped with heavy artillery, tanks and armored vehicles, including helicopters hovering overhead. All this movement occurred between 1 am and 4 pm and before the actual entry into the facility of Altitude.

When Beltran Leyva's  first security wall had been defeated, and  the marines felt they had the situation under their control, and made their advance in towards the condo.  The members of the Special Forces were greeted with gunfire. This generated a massive gunfight. From their armored vehicles, the Marines triggered 7.62 caliber machine guns and assault rifles AR-15, while another elite military commando from the helicopter rappelled down on top of the condominium where Arturo Beltran was located.

At the second wall of security, Beltran Leyva's group of sicarios responded with dozens of fragmentation grenades and bursts of AK-47 and AR-15 fire power through the windows of department 201, located on the second level of the 15-story building

Five  hours passed, from the first advance, up to the point of the shooting that took the life of Arturo Beltran, and the sicarios were running out of grenades. No longer capable of an offensive, three of the five sicarios who were defending Beltran were shot dead in the condo. Another sicario jumped to his death.

La Barbie managed to escape, how, remains a mystery.

Decapitated Head
Within  weeks of Belran Leyva's burial, a decapitated head was discovered on the front step of his elaborate tomb.

It was left without a message.  At another tomb the headless body was left.  The two tombs were at least 150 feet from one another.

The corpse was that of a food worker and why his head was left at the dead capo's tomb also remains a mystery.

Property for sale

The sale property is not currently accessible to the public, and  administrators have installed three guard houses to prevent onlookers from entering the street where the house sits.   .

The SAEB placed the property on sale,  as well as two other properties seized by the Attorney General's Office  (PGR)  that were offered for sale through Banrural and Fiderca, in Morelos.

Below is at the party house

and  below are videos of the shootout that ended his life

  2. so once sold, the federation should receive 13 million,
well what federation would get paid?
    federal goverment?
or the sinaloa cartel? remember that when Arturo was part of the cartel, it was known as the federation. and being that the house belonged to him, it was federation property

  5. strength in numbers motherfuckers even if arturo beltran paid 12 former military members for body guards they couldn't stop the onslaught of mexican military that was looking for him. Anyone that is thinking of living the drug trafficker lifestyle needs to read more news. No one retires in the narco world el chapo, Z3, Z40, Arturo, Escobar. There two ways out death or prison. If you want to flaunt your wealth then make it legitimately and people will respect you and youcan start your own reality show. If you run drugs prepare to constantly go to sleep with one eye open and constantly worrying about someone coming to get you. ITS NOT WORTH IT.

    2. even if they where to "retire" theyre still on the run, like Caro, maybe the goverment may no longer want them, but the U.S. still does, theres dead people stikl on the U.S. MOST WANTED like amado carillo, and if its not any goverment, old feuds tend to not die out, there will always be a few enemies that want their head

  15. Why hasn't someone made a movie or telenovela about el Jefe de Jefes Arturo? Arguably one of the most intruiging capos to die since Amado Carrillo. Heck, Amado was his teach and Arturo his apprentice. Arturo was bigger than Chapo at the Federation split, he lost a lot of support and BLO wasn't the same but El Botas was one crazy dude.

i don't know about your twisted minds wanting to buy arturo's g'string, you dirty devils, you make me puke sometimes, but that was funny...
after the escape, arturo was without a lot of people, clearly he was not going to survive another attempt at him, and la barbie did not have anymore people to send help, when you have burned your defense, just surrender, buy and pay your way out of it, el mochomo almost made it, but he will get out soon.
--now if arturo and la barbie, being so smart and loaded with millions of dollars, had taped or recorded some of their tranzas with genaro garcia luna like la puta tuta, we'd be so indebted to them...
--anyway, there is a lot of evidence about criminals WORSE than ABL, involved in corruption at the AFI and SSP, like genaro garcia luna and luis cardenas palomino, a couple of assassins and kidnappers and ransomists, fabricators of guilty parties and false confessions and evidence, and in the case of luis cardenas palomino, who used to look like a such a pretty boy,(CHIVIS!) up there reporting on the successes against criminals and kidnappers who were innocent or working for them in reality, like "el tigere leyzaola".
--they have been implicated in the murder of enrique salinas de gortari, as AFIs after extorting him for a good while, that is how evil they are, and they still are not being prosecuted, also the murder of commander edgar eusebio millan, by genaro garcia luna's sicarios among many others, and he was and is carlos slim helu's pretty boy and florida partner, who cares about alfredos, chapos and mochomos? there is bigger game out there!!!

  36. Traffic had some mention of AFO, but nothing in depth. They need to make a real movie based on real facts, maybe it's too soon and they fear retaliation but a movie about AFO brothers, Arturo Beltran and Chapo is some good cienematic success waiting to happen. The war that was raged between families, friends and narcos over the BLO vs CDS war is something to be told for many many years.

      Delete
  39. ABL made many mistakes leading up to his take down. To begin with he needed to stay away as much as possible from the urban centers and hid himself in la sierras. The capture of El Mochomo really did a lot to him since he became erratic up until his death. That plus the fact that the OFAC and DOJ were hitting him and his cartel hard with RICO and Kingpin Acts.

  40. aslong as its a structure still standing that belonged to a capo it will always represent the capo, remind the people he existed, its like a scar, a reminder of someone that caused pain and destruction to some people and some communities, anyone who has had his family torn apart by his actions would once again freshen up those emotional wounds if they where to pass by that house and know who it belonged to. the community is way better off if it gets demolished and the property is turned into a park, a church a school, anything that can benefit the community and not bring back horrible memories

  45. Yo was A.B.L. more powerful than Chapo? I read somewhere that back in the 90s A.B.L. help Chapo financially in his war against the Arellano-Felix brothers. I also read that A.B.L. kept on pushing weight for Chapo while he was in jail since they were blood cousins. Any truth to this? I honestly think el Barbas had more power but the reason Chapo came on top was because Mayo, Nacho, and Azul stayed on his side.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Arturo Beltran was bigger in several ways, when I refer to this I mean right before the Federation split and at the time of his death. He was el Sr. de las plazas, meaning he had more support across Mexico than anyone Capo in Mexico at that time. He had influence in Northern Mexico, Central Mexico and Southern Mexico. That is a huge presence, something that Chapo did not have. While Chapo was ocked up and up until his escape from PG Arturon was the one who kept his business going and helped finance his escape. Chapo has been around a long time but so had El Botas Blancas and they had always moved serious weight up north. Arturo Beltran learned well from Amado in the hey days of the Juarez cartel, they had a lot of GOVT officials on the their pay roll. That is one trait that Hector learned from his brother, they were Los Caballeros for a reason. The war that was raged in Sinaloa at the split was bloody, Arturo felt betrayed by Chapo someone that he felt he always helped. There is no honor amongst narcos, se matan entre hermanos que se esperaran entre SOCIOS. Now after Arturo died, Chapo gained a huge presence but quietly MZ has remained the one who in the end was the CDS true boss.

    August 22, 2014 at 9:47 AM
Thanks for the input bro. Yeah I knew El Barbas had more plazas then Chapo the only other cartel I can think operates in or operated is the Zetas. ABL was definitely a heavy weight in the narco-world.

Now a life movie about him would be interesting. He was a longer fugitive then Chapo. He escaped from a prison in Durango in the late 70s. That's almost 40 years on the lam!!! Also a movie about El Lazca or Zeta-40 would be epic.

when arturo beltran leyva chased and stopped genaro garcia luna and asked if garcia luna was going to respect and deliver as agreed, he should have just killed garcia luna, listening to a politician that is falling behind is wrong and bad for business, ask la puta tuta, he should have had el americanus and el cinco hindu and los viagras on the spot, at the first sign of their failing to deliver, and fuck the rumors of neurosys.
genaro garcia luna and his boyfriend luis cardenas palomino, really fucked up the cartels and criminals at will, politicians are the worst snakes in all of mexico, always bitting the hand that feeds their skanky asses...
