Arrested in Gro: El Tigre Leader of Los Rojos

Borderland Beat

Mexican Fedeal police have arrested  the principal leader of the Los Rojos (The Reds) cartel (of Guerrero not of Tamaulipas CDG Rojos), in the southern state of Guerrero.
Leonor Nava Romero, known as “El Tigre” (The Tiger), was arrested by police in Tecpan de Galeana, near the beach resort of Acapulco, the National Security Commissioner Monte Alejandro Rubido said at a news conference on Saturday.

Mr Nava Romero has been arrested on suspicion of trafficking drugs to the United States, extortion and kidnapping. Police said he was carrying an assault rifle and ammunition.

Authorities said he is believed to be linked to the arms smuggling operations of another cartel, known as Beltran Leyva, and he is also being investigated in connection with the murder of eight army soldiers from 2008.

Los Rojos are reportedly allies of the Beltran Leyva drug cartel, whose leader, Arturo Beltran Leyva, was killed in 2009 by marines.

Mr Rubido said Mr Nava Romero allegedly ordered the killings of the Beltran Leyva gang’s opponents.

  11. It isn't an important story, at least imo. We have to make choices what to put on mainboard.. On forum it only had 300 views or so, even here not much interest. But I was out all day...so it is up.

There is an interesting connection to Devert case. His mother was told this person was behind it. But I still think it was the sierra santana gang called viagras, because of where he was when he vanished.

  12. Hey, Chivis,

I think this is a different "El Tigre" in Gro from the "Tigre" mentioned in the Harry Devert case.

The Tigre in the Devert case was identified in all the FB pages, and in your comment thread on Forum, as Adrián Reyes Cadena.

It makes sense because the guy in this story is associated with BLO, but the Tigre in Harry's case is with the CJNG (Los Guerreros)

    But who knows?

  13. No worries Chivis. El tigress turned himself in because one of his daughters was being held for ransom. Apparently he ordered the murder of 2 guys who were on Bertrans payroll. He didn't know who they were. He thought they were from another group.

  14. thank you for the clarification. I do not believe CJNG is the culprit as for info on the kidnapping don't believe everything on the fb page as accurate, I don't even look at it. Long story there.

Honestly, I feel strongly he was taken in Mich. He last contacted his GF north of Huetamo. His mother is a fierce advocate for her son, and I am now proud to be able to call her my friend. She has been in Mexico for over a month. I only hope she can locate her son.

  18. The Rojos are a splinter group that broke away from CBL after the death of el botas blancas. That is why he was referred to as el Jeff de Jefes. MABL had Guerrero, Morelos, state of Mx., D.F. on lockdown. All his cells started working for themselves which include Guerreros Unidos, Rojos, CIDA, Barredora, etc.

  19. Those 8 soldiers that were killed were killed by "el rojo" Jose Nava Romero or this guy? It was said el rojo killed those military or since they're brothers they both participated? el rojo died along side Arturo BL
