Acuña Coahuila: 8 Americans Deported

Mexican Border Officials Deport U.S. Citizens on Eve of Obama’s Visit
Minutes after midnight on April 28th, eight U.S. citizens from Austin, Texas, were deported from Ciudad Acuña, Coahuila, a Mexican border town opposite Del Rio, Texas. The Mexican government’s action comes a few days before President Obama’s visit to Mexico on Thursday to redefine the U.S.-Mexico relationship.
“We have organized these tours for 14 years and have never experienced anything like this. We are shocked and outraged,” said Judith Rosenberg, board president of Austin Tan Cerca de la Frontera (Austin So Close to the Border), a local non-profit.
The deported citizens were on an educational tour organized by ATCF to Ciudad Acuña to visit the offices of the CFO (Border Workers Committee), a community-based organization that defends worker and women’s rights on the Mexican side of the border.
As they were sitting down to have lunch, the delegation was surrounded by armed police, taken to the Mexican immigration office, detained and questioned for 9 hours, then deported to Del Rio.
“We were never given a clear explanation of what charges and penalties we faced. We were not provided a legal translator and were pressured to sign some document under threat of being detained for up to 90 days in Saltillo, Coahuila,” said one deportee, a student at the University of Texas at Austin.
“We got a different kind of educational experience than we expected” said one of the other deportees, Reverend Kate Rohde of Wildflower Church in Austin. “If the Mexican Government is putting this kind of pressure on church ladies and students from the U.S., just for listening to workers, it is obvious that the Mexican workers we met receive much worse treatment from their government when they ask for humane working conditions and wages.
We hope that President Obama will raise the issue of worker justice and independent unions when he meets with Mexico’s President.”
The group sent a letter to Secretary of State John Kerry and President Obama asking for their assistance in this matter.

read "Juarez: the laboratory of our future" that is why the American and Mexican government don't do anything with drugs, violence, or economic justice for that matter. It doesn't matter who's in charge. They won't do shit.

They are lucky nothing worse happened to them. I know this dude who about 15 yeats ago was robbed and wrote a letter to the major with recommendations how to improve security in the hood. What happened. At 5am the secrurity forces teargassed his place, knocked down the front door, stormed in arrested him and girlfriend. He spent 3 days in jail and was beaten several times. Needless to say once he got out he quit his good paying job as an engineer and fled back to north of the border.
Mexican institutions are all corrupt fascist special interest organisations in the hands of the elite ... just like here but 10 times worse!

Is easier to deport church ladies and students than to combat Narcos.

DURING OBAMAS SPEACH IN MEXICO:

Speaking in Mexico on Friday, President Barack Obama blamed U.S. gun manufactures for the violence in the country, adding that much of it stems from the American demand for illegal drugs.

"Much of the root cause for violence that has been happening here in Mexico, for which so many Mexicans have suffered, is the demand for illegal drugs in the United States," Obama said during a speech at Mexico's Anthropology Museum

He then turned his attention to U.S. gun owners and gun control.

"Most of the guns used to commit violence here in Mexico come from the United States," Obama said. "I think many of you know that in America, our Constitution guarantees our individual right to bear arms. And as president, I swore an oath to uphold that right, and I always will."

"But at the same time, as I've said in the United States, I will continue to do everything in my power to pass common-sense reforms that keep guns out of the hands of criminals and dangerous people," he added.

"That can save lives here in Mexico and back home in the United States. It's the right thing to do," Obama said.

No coincidence. This is the leftist unionist playbook. Use a leftist group to bring attention to deportation of illegals in the U.s. Conveniently when the leftist President of U.s. is spotlighting himself. He will use this to push amnesty, open borders and more violence and chaos will result, which will justify his expansion of dictatorial federal measures.

I think the U.S. gov't needs to legalize all illegal narcotics and the mexican gov't needs to follow that step as well. The mexican cartels could then turn into legit companies. They would have free reign over any border crossing or plaza n wouldn't have to fight for control of them. It would be a legit import from mexico and the U.S. gov't could then tax the hell out of those imports. I mean like a 60% import tax and a heavy sales tax. In return we would curb violence and save on millions of tax dollars that are used in the prosecution of drug offenders. U want to fuck ur life up with drugs then go right ahead. Of course this would never happen!!!! TF TAMPA,FLORIDA

you ,make zero sense.

readers:
In Acuna last month they caught an American making child porn and selling it on the net. Using little girls in Acuna and surrounding areas. They are not going through with the prosecution at this time nor did they deport the guy.

If they had worked with the US FBI and DOJ they could have deported him to the US where he would have been under federal jurisdiction because he was using the internet to transfer his "work".

But in Mexico they welcome disgusting pigs and law breakers, and without reasons deport humanitarians, which were students and church members.

Yes Mexico is their own worse enemy. Those deported can file litigation as a member of a group I work with did, and he won. But it is costly and I for one if it happens to me would just say screw it and go to another country to work. I find working in Central American is appreciated much more than Mexico and the needs are greater.

I called Acuna when I got the story (Thanks Lacy) and asked about it and of the three calls I made not one person heard of this "we hear nothing really it is like we are blindfolded"

As for how many bad comments from Mexicans, really not much at all. I know that is strange. But wait the night is young...:)
I am just getting overwhelmed what is happening since EPN has taken office. and for the US not to run this story is a joke. 8 humanitarians get the boot, questioned and detained for 9 hrs, no translator and threats?

But people clam down the racist stuff...I had to delete over a dozen comments especially from the US side, just state your case but use logic about the chances it will be posted or dumped..

6:40 pm, hmmm maybe after that, we can legalize kidnapping and extortion too....we are not dealing with educated people . they are criminals with no education.... Wait maybe after that they can empty out. All their prisons and they can join the workforce too.

yes that was the person I was speaking of. He was a part of Schools for Chiapas my foundations project partner in Chiapas. They have been working with the Zapatistas since the uprising or before. I could not have been accepted by the Zapatistas had it not been for them, and the fact my grandmother was Mayan. But it was a person in that group that was deported and was in the news, he sued and regained right to once again travel to Mexico.
As for hearing more, yes I am very interested also. I am thinking of contacting the group and maybe write a follow up.

Hey Manchester, are you sure you aren't American? Just kidding. I can not tell you how angry I was over this pig. I wanted to hunt him down and in fact asked around but no one knew him other than what was written in the media. one of the issues was parents did not want to become involved. that is how it is in Mexico. and that angers me also

I think with all turmiol that is going on Mexico, the govt. decided to take a precautionary measure by protecting these American ATCF humantarian people. You got cartel battles and protest riots a going on all over Mexico. Although I applaud these people for their work in trying to help others, they shall not go with the intention of interfering in Mexico's internal affairs. We don't like it, and neither does our govt., when outsiders or foreigners try to tell us what to do with our affairs. We have to remember that Mexico is a sovereign country, and so out we with out set of problems.

Anonymous said...

foreigners are not allowed to get involved in mexican politics and that is what they were doing. breaking the law. could have been thrown in jail instead of being deported. idiots

Anonymous said...

méxico will never change its to late. to much corruption by the government ever since the spanish came they fucked México up and it will never recover

Anonymous said...

The inner-city citizens of this country follow that excuse hook, line and sinker that guns are the reason for all the violence that exists;thus, they disarm themselves and become easier prey for the criminals. Here the inner-city citizens choose to disarm themselves, in México that choice is made for its citizens. And the minute they choose to arm themselves, you have the criminals calling them criminals as occured last week in Michoacan because they are no longer easy prey. Just like Obama likes to protect his family with armed secret service agents, American citizens reserve the right to defend their families from harm. Citizes should demand.the same.

@6:30 ... That won't stop their violence. They aren't fighting over the 'product', (that belongs to Colombia/Peru), they are fighting over roads or who gets to have what places and routes. Also, alliances gone bad. How does legalizing stop any of that? I get from the mantas that they actually find all the graphic killing, well, funny. They LIKE it. Hey Z40 this hey El Chapo that ... meanwhile some guys and gals they don't even know get chopped up.

As to the deportations, did the Church group have proper visas?

turistic places like Cancun are safe. Violence is in the border towns or drug corridors. Even if u hear noice from cities like Acapulco, it is not coming from the turistic resorts.

American businesses need cheap labor and need to keep wages low. Farmers and Ranchers need their crops picked, livestock tended, and mansios/houses maintained. The children born here are needed to replenish the aging U.S.A. population. This country needs illegal/legal immigration.

Anonymous said...

The powerful families will start to corner the market of once illegal drugs when they become legalized. As it is, they already get a cut of the proceeds when they launder the money for the cartels and mafias.

"The powerful families will start to corner the market of once illegal drugs when they become legalized. As it is, they already get a cut of the proceeds when they launder the money for the cartels and mafias"

"Power families", not a chance. If pot or cocaine are legalized in the US, why would "powerful" Mexican families step in or even be needed? Coke will still come from South America and high quality marijuana can be grown in many regions of the US. Coca leaves would be imported to the US and processed here - and they wouldnt be buying the leaves from the F.A.R.C. through a Mexican middle man either. Pot would be a neighborhood brew-club industry - I dont see Chapo, Z-40 or even Slim, shoving the hippies out of that business.
