Monclova Erupts in Violence

Chivis Martinez Borderland Beat

          Ghost Town
Early Tuesday morning I began receiving messages that in the Coahuila city of Monclova an intense shootout had begun in the north of the city.

An hour later came word  that another severe shootout had begun, this one included grenades, pochallantas, narco blockades.  Mantas were displayed in several parts of the city, and signed "CDG".

Though the state acknowledged one shootout, as usual the severity was downplayed.  They reported  1 death, and 2 injured.  The death was reported by the state to be a soldier.
Hospitals, DIF Health Clinics , and Social Security Clinics were guarded in an attempt to prevent kidnapping of physicians as often occurs after conflicts.
As typical in these events of violence, it was people on the ground turning to twitter and facebook to spread the word, and warn people in Monclova of the danger.

They reported that the Mexican army was in a clash with multiple groups of armed men.
A little after 7 AM the “code red” alert was activated,  which warns citizens to remain indoors.  By nightfall streets were void of vehicles as people complied with the code red rendering the city a virtual ghost town.

There is a report on twitter that some of the Monclova mantas read "For Every Sicario Killed We Will Kill Five Students",  however I am yet to see a photo or confirmation.  A similar rumor ran rampant in the Coahuila city of Acuña a week ago but I could not substantiate the rumors truthfulness. People were fearful enough to keep their children out of school.

All photos are from Twitter - I removed two after image search says they are old fotos.  The manta was from February and the two dead narco in the SUV was a foto from 2009.  Sorry about that. Then decided to repost the manta from February as it may give a better idea what is happening in Monclova:

A mainboard commenter posted this translation:

Attention, City of Monclova. This is a wakeup call, now that we are here. We did not come here to murder or kidnap innocent people, nor to take your money or goods. We came to finish off the ‘Cartel of the Z’. I came XTI, abuelo…. (this must be a list of names of the CDG guys on that line, shameless self-promotion). Don’t blame the government. There I left you an example of what (blurry last two words)” Atte. Gulf Cartel

A big Thank You to "VO" and "NB"

We are here to exterminate the remnants of the Zeta cartel.I am here for you: Abuelo,Dumbo y Z40 (fuckin dishwasher). Stop blaming the goverment. I left you proof of our capabilities."

  15. I think the translation "...vengo XTI abuelo..."
should read "I come for you, abuelo, dumbo, z-40" XTI means por ti. These are Zetas not gulfo members.
Not trying to be a dick, thanks for the translation work

    ReplyDelete
  16. "Vine XTI, abuelo, dumbo, z40" means "I came for you: Abuelo, Dumbo and z40", it means that the CDG came to get Abuelo, Dumbo and Z40, it´s not CDG people they are mentioning but rather the Z´s who they are after.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Chivis those names are not CDG self promotion, those are the names of those targeted, abuelo, dumbo and z40, I came XTI is por ti, I came for you.

    ReplyDelete
  18. The part that says "I came XTI abuelo" means vengo por ti abuelo..so it means "I came for you abuelo, dumbo and z40". X=por

    ReplyDelete
  19. The Manta Translation is not all correct, they got this last part wrong :

" I came XTI, abuelo…. (this must be a list of names of the CDG guys on that line, shameless self-promotion). Don’t blame the government. There I left you an example of what (blurry last two words)” Atte. Gulf Cartel"

    What it really says:

" Vengo X Ti" as in "Im coming for you"
(and then writes the names of Z bosses they want to kill or find in the city) "Abuelo", "Dumbo" y "Z40"
(then in the corner, barely legible they include an insult to 40: "Pinche lavacarros" or "fuckin carwasher".

Last 2 inlegible words at the end: "les espera" or "lo que les espera"

"Im coming for you "Abuelo", "Dumbo", Z40"fuckin carwasher"
stop blaming the government, Here's a sample of whats waiting for you.

  22. CHIVIS.. Were it say's "I came XTI, Abuelo"

Cleaned that translation up a bit... so it's clear. Abuelo, Dumbo and Z-40 are apparently the Zeta leaders that are present in and around Monclova.

  24. Esa manta dice "vengo xt! " means im coming for you "abuabuelo , dumbo,y Z40"
    Xt = por ti
    Thanks for the article

  25. That isnt cdg ppl.
Its a manta to abuelo, dumbo, y Z40.
    "Xt!" Means "por ti"

  26. If you don't have proof of anyone threatening students you should not report on it. It is irresponsible and only shows that you are trying to sensationalize the problems in Mexico.

  27. Good translation. Just to add that XTI means "por ti"....for you

Vengo XTI = I come for you....

    ReplyDelete
  28. Actually when they wrote "Vengo XTI..." They mean, "I came 4u...", as in "I came for you"..

  30. The ones heating up the plaza in La Laguna area is the Cartel del Poniente aka Los Dannys they are fighting against the CDS in Durango and Z in Coahuila.

The CDG has some serious problems in there own cartel with all the traitors going on in Reynosa it seems that the CDG is very weak and can't imagine them in Coahuila.

Chivis here is a link of some narco manta hanged in Torreon naming some CDS pople that operate in Durango.

  31. A more clear translation of the manta; “Attention, City of Monclova. This is a wakeup call, now that we are here. We did not come here to murder or kidnap innocent people, nor to take your money or goods. We came to finish off the ‘Cartel of the Z’. I came For you, abuelo, dumbo and z40. Don’t blame the government. There I left you an example of what .... (last of the sentence is too blurry to be read & translated)” Atte. Gulf Cartel I take no credit for this, I took it from the original post and modified a bit. :D

  32. Hi chivis the part after " no quitarles el dinero" I believe its text lingo " vengo x ti " which means I come for you. Abuelo , Dumbo & Z-40 fucking car washer. Stop blaming the government. Then the last part is blurry but says " Hay te deje una muestra" translated is "I left you an example" the rest is unreadble...

Hood rat speak? No Thank you! But pendejo, I did not translate anything in this post. Obviously you are ESL, (do you know what that is?) So I will break it down for you:

I wrote this article nothing was translated.
The manta clearly states in the caption (do you know what that is?) that a mainboard COMMENTER translated the manta.

    How do you feel now?
Time for you to amble over to BDN with the other lowlife group of malefactors.

  51. Of course English is not my native language; of course I don't know how to express myself well in English; however there is something I MUST do and that is to tell some of the readers that we should show respect and appreciation for what Chivis and all the other reporters do in this blog. As far as I know they don't receive a single penny for the hard work it takes to them in order to keep us informed of what is going on in Mexico, so we can sometimes take steps when traveling into some of the mexican states, for our security. Do you even imagine how much time it takes from their lives to gather and translate the notes for us? Therefore, if anybody is looking for "Shakespearean English" kindly go to England blogs.. that's it .. (ahuecando el ala). As far as I am concerned I think that everything that is written by them is perfectly understood, don't you think so? Thank you so much Chivis and contributor team members. Excellent work. VO
