"Narco" banners threaten Ciudad Juarez police chief

At least a dozen banners appeared Wednesday morning in Ciudad Juarez, all containing the same message threatening police chief Julián Leyzaola and the members of his force.

The message also accused Leyzoala of supporting the Sinaloa Cartel in their fight against the Juarez cartel to secure the lucrative Ciudad Juarez plaza.

The banners contained the following message.

"Para leyzaola. Si sigues apoyando a los montaperros y agarrando pura gente de nosotros te vamos a matar un elemento diario para q sepa toda la ciudadanía lo corrupto que eres. Leyzaola=Delincuente con placas. ATTE. NCJ."

This is for Leyzaola. If you continue supporting the imitators and only arrest our people we will kill one officer daily so that the citizens will know how corrupt you are. Leyzaola = a criminal with a badge. Sincerely, Nuevo Cartel de Juarez

The message highlighted the fact that five police officers and a state prosecutor have been murdered this month in Ciudad Juarez.

The latest officers to fall were Héctor René Martínez González, age 45, and Carlos Daniel Cháirez Hernández, age 26. Both men were attacked Tuesday afternoon in the colonia Bosques de Salvárcar while on the way to report for their evening shift duties.

  1. Everyone in Ciudad Juarez knew that Leyzaola was corrupt and definately one sided. He favors el Chapo, just like many people on this blog.

Only people from the U.S believe that he is an honest officer.Leyzaola is scared, and nervous,he knows he is next.Maybe he got away with it in Tijuana but Ciudad Juarez is a whole different situation.El Viceroy doesnt mess around.Leyazola should really get his family out of Mexico just like most have done already.

He is going against El Viceroy in his own turf, his luck will eventually run out.How many times has he almost gotten killed??

  2. That should get him to stop, eh. The nuevo cartel is about to be rolled. I don't think the Leyzaola can be intimidated. God be with him.

  3. I had doubts about Leyzaola when he was in Tijuana, but his tactics appear to be working in Juarez, and these pathetic attacks on low paid police prove it.

  4. Y ya porque escribieron esto ya se va a salir de su puesto,si "ellos" asueguran que ayuda al Chapo, pues quien creen que va a apoyar a leyzaola para que nada le pase...estos Babosos ni siquera piensan.

  5. @ 10:49, Viceroy lost every person below him in the past 5 years, and what the hell happened to La Linea?

  6. January 25, 2012 10:49 PM A lot of people have said the same thing about president Felipe Calderon.
People used to say the same thing about Leyzaola when he was working in Tijuana, that he was working for the Sinaloa Cartel. If that was true then why El Teo want it to kill him for?
I have a feeling El Viceroy is more afraid of Leyzaola then Leyzaola is afraid of him, when dogs are afraid they put their tail between their legs and show their teeth, that exactly what this criminals are doing. Why kill innocent police officers for? Because they are afraid to go straight to Leyzaola.

  7. Thats some serious shit ... That dude should leave town .. gonna be alot of cop killing coming up .. just waiting for bb to keep us updated

  8. In response to the first post, I don't know anyone in the US who thinks he's an honest cop. In fact you've pretty much got it ass backwards because most Americans assume the police chief in every border town is corrupt. From what I've gathered thru reading this site, not much gets done in Mexico without cartel influence.

  9. I have a feeling that Leyzaola may be set up one day and killed if he does'nt leave soon. Much props to this brave man. Good or Bad. He is a real man.

The Juarez Cartel is very determined. Maybe they are making a last run at it. They are killing too many people senselessly. The New Cartel propoganda is getting old.

  11. Only people from the U.S believe that he is an honest officer

well the way you write it everyone is corrupt so what would you do kill everyone?
If he is one sided let him eliminate one side then if their are any non corrupt people in mexico they need to eliminate the corrupt ones that are left after leyzaola cleans up the first level of criminals.

  12. Say what you want about Leyzaola; he's got BALLS!! All the other scumbag Municipal Cops
were murderers and extornists with badges. The
ones that are getting screwed are the poor bastards that have to live in Juarez cuz they got no where else to go while these street urchins that call themselves sicario's and part of the Juarez Cartel are nothing but wannabe punks. They get a few hundred pesos for cuttin
some poor souls head off and actually think that they have joined some "Family" that will watch over them and protect them. What a F--kin
joke! These scumbags have I.Q.'s of 3 and I'm giving them 2 points!

  19. Finally the truth comes out.. like I've said it all along that fucker leyzaola, that fucking murderer just came to juarez to start his little revolution trying to clean up for chapo.. I really think some of the articles posted need to be examined before posting them because some are pure bullshit and if there not sure don't post them.. what are you gonna do when all your cops are afraid to patrol the streets fucken leyzaola.. this is not tijuana were u can intimidate people, keep knocking on hells door and somebody will answer

  20. Leyzaola is doing the same thing he did in Tijuana, where he went after Teo's people and he din't touch Ingeniero's boys. Now in Juarez as i can see, hes following the same steps attacking La Linea and favoring CDS

People who belives in Leyzaola its ignorant people. Son de esos que les dan una torta y ya creen en los politicos, de esos que de seguro van a volver a votar por el PAN if El Chapo falls, because the ''war'' its working. Pendejos.

  22. So, is the theory Leyazola is a hired gun? If he went after Teo, who was aligned with Sinaloa (for a time) and protected Inge, he wasn't with CDS at the time?

But, he switched, and voluntarily went to Juarez, to work for El Chapo and protect his interests? Say that's true, why are the Federal police, (long said to be Chapo corrupted) constantly fighting with him?

Even attempting to kill him, on more then one occasion? Those that buy this banner, what is your response to this? Clearly, we don't have the whole picture, but there are no easy answers, like Leyazola supports Chapo, and Juarez Cartel are being unfairly targeted because of this.

    1. El Teo is a different story, dont try to bring in the mix because its unrelated. We are talking about Ciudad Juarez.Chapo used El Teo for a while he knew El Teo would never be a permanant member of the Sinaloa Cartel because he was wayyyy to violent, and you know the Sinaloa Cartel really loves to fool the people with the whole "good, heroic image" or "good guys" or the" good cartel".

The people,or police officers attempting to kill him were under the orders of The Juarez Cartel, for the same reasons. Its very obvious Chapo likes to disguise,or hide his sicarios because he knows they would just be an easy target for the Juarez Cartel,so he sends sicarios dressed up as Federales or Military type convoys, identical vehicles as the ones the real militares use.

Teo was working for Sinaloa, why will Leyzaola attack Sinaloa in Tijuana and will protect Sinaloa in Juarez?

  27. The Juarez Cartel runs deep in the blood of many old timers that live in that city. It is who they are and they will never let that go. It is one of the most secretive cartels and it's leadership does not disclose who they are and who works for them. Amado would not allow corridos to be sung about him. They have many big money players. They are going nowhere and will alway systematically take out their enemies there. They are for real and they do not play. They are diplomatic but they are extremely deadly. Old school to the max. Second in command is Jose Luis Fratillo aka JL, Dos Letres and most fitting, "the Beast." He has run La Linea for 15 years but moved up. If he rolls in, you are fucked no matter who you are. And what are y'all talking about, La Linea is about gone. I dare you to walk across the bridge and say that one time. And the Barrio Aztecas are no joke. The media, US Gov, and all the gossip for 5 years has been that they are all but gone. Don't buy it. It's propaganda. I wish y'all could see the mansions of extremely rich people their and understand what major corporations they own that are deeply connected. They are not going to let the boys from the southern state take anything. They have been written off 4 times now and who ran the federal police, the military and El Chapo out of town a year ago, they did. I have said it for 5 years, the boys from Juarez are a different bread. They Sinaloa Cartel is no better or worse. They all do the same shit. Sinaloa is the cause and source of most of the violence blamed on CDJ just to heat up the plaza. They are the ones that kill the innocent. All I can say is, Leyzaola don't want to piss off the Beast. Truly, the Beast don't care about his family either. He better take his bribes, leave people alone, and run. He has already announced he wants to leave. I bet he sure does now.

  37. 9:21 PM The most important point here is what has happened to Juarez since 2007. It was never beautiful but there was life, joy and business there before this war. I am tired of pure evil dominated those poor souls living there and I would love to see it back to what it was up to 2006. If the war over greed had not started, the parasites and dumb asses would still be washing car windows and wouldn't have a gun.

  38. @ 5:49 pm

J made a good point but what 5:49 pm said makes sense too. I don't believe that the CDS had disguised narcos as federal police to make attempted assassinations on Leyzaola.

I believe that the mayor and Leyzaola were both aiding the CDJ at first. The federal police have always been known for siding with El Chapo.

The day of the Cereso prison massacre of the Aztecas, the federal police had made a third (?) assassination attempt on Leyzaola when his caravan rushed to the prison. Aftetwards, Leyzaola went to speak to Calderon about removing the federal police but Calderon insisted, and for very good reason. But Leyzaola had already been demanding the departure of the PF's.

Maybe he was bought out by the CDS. Maybe he had no other choice.

That's the way it is. Leyzaola has to choose only one side and it would be too dangerous for him to choose the side of Vicente.

  46. here's an odd theory, as profits decrease violence increases. when you read about the old 'lord of the skies' he was worth much more than anyone now and there was far less rampent violence. despite what is said i bet most profits now are from coke, meth and extorsion. i live in texas and have been smoking since i was a teenager and can't find mexican herb anywhere. most weed now days is domestic (at least for white people). if these cartels were good at their 'jobs' then teenage hitmen wouldn't have to cut off peoples heads and post videos on youtube to prove they're not 'jotas' and rep there gangs. i'm not talking bad about mexican weed either, it's actually not a bad value and miss it's natural feel.
also, another thought. a lot of these wayward teens were probably the people that used to jump ship to the old us of a. now it's harder and there's less work. a co-worker of mine (i'm white, but work in construction) was telling me how he heard the zetas pay people $100 for a hit. that's like a day at a $12 job.
seriously, if your gonna sell drugs you'll last longer if you don't constantly start stuff with people. just saying. you read the stories here about cartel alliances and it's like following a pro wrestling plot-line.
