Mexico Navy arrests "El Pitufo" and 12 other Zetas in Veracruz

Officers of the Secretary of the Navy of Mexico captured 13 members of the criminal organization Los Zetas in the state of Veracruz. One of the suspects was identified as Hector Tejeda Vazquez, aka El Pitufo (The Smurf), who is under investigation in the murder of a marine whose body, was found in Playa de Vaca.

Authorities report they received an anonymous tip alerting them to an armed group in the town of San Julian, Veracruz. Quickly elements of the Mexico Navy conducted ground patrols and caught the offenders. The gunmen were cornered, gave little resistance and were captured. They also managed to secure several guns, gun cartridges, a grenade launcher, 25 grenades, 24 computers, 1800 individual packs of marijuana, 1000 of cocaine, and 2000 of crack, among other things.

The 13 subjects admitted that they belonged to the Zetas and have participated in numerous crimes. They were moved to the facilities of the Office of Special Investigations on Organized Crime in Mexico City.

  4. Opps, looks like La Flaka rolled on someone.

@ 10:54 AM....Lol, put your glasses on, it said 1800 individual packets of marijuana. Small time plaza dealer, one step up from La Flaka. But hey, spread it around to the good old boys down at the station and it is a good start on Christmas bonuses.

  8. what i dont get is why are some people posting up saying that los zetas are very strong and big when all i see is zetas being caught.everytime they do a bust its zetas, not just one but alot of them at one time.so how are they even winning according to some people? besides who would want to join a cartel that is always being caught?that wouldn't be a smart choice to join them in my opinion. Anyone with facts that would explain why they are so big?

  9. What these IDIOTS were caught with would get them 30yrs in Texas ,bet they will all be out of jail in 6 mos. But this is Mexico not TExas, crime rate shows it.

  10. Damn they are all just kids. Pinche Zetas will recruit anyone to join their dirty gang. Feel sorry for their parents. For me, I'm happy that there are 13 less zetas off the streets. Too bad for the people who root for the zetas. El regio will probably shed a tear when he reads this one.

    ZETAS SUCK BIG ONES!!!

  11. @3:50 PM

All they catch is the low level cannon fodder. Zetas replace kids quickly.

  12. @ ajulio This is how a Zeta sicario is created: the training lasts about 15 days and they call it La Diestra. They take them with the eyes bandaged to a point unknown in the mountains that surround Xalapa Veracruz. And they prepare them there with physical preparation, they teach them how to use assault rifles and pistols, how to assemble and disassemble a weapon, and teach them how to fight hand-to-hand in only 15 days.

After reading this on MundoNarco I got the feeling the Zetas are in desperate need of sicarios.

  13. @ajulio,

Here you are talking smack about Regio because he talked bad about CDG! You are an idiot! Regio hates ALL cartels and has told you that MANY times! Either grow up or shut the "F" up!

They need to kill these scum bags on sight! Arresting them does NOTHING! They will ALL be back on the streets within months! Mexico is its own worst enemy by not exterminating these scum! The ONLY solution for Zetas is DEATH! This foes for ALL scum bag criminal cartels CDG included!

  16. READ AN INTERESTING ARTICLE THIS PAST WEEK...THEY HAVE A GOOD ARTICLE ABOUT 4000+ KIDS HAVE BEEN ARRESTED FOR CARTEL CRIMES.
    A L L ....A L L.....SAID THEY WERE WITH EITHER ZETAS OR CDG.
    Not Zs not CDG
    but from both.

also note worthy, only 105 went to trial out of the 4000. Virtual impunity exists, kids know this and have nothing to lose in a world of ni-ni.

this bs of zetas vs cdg is stupid and childish. THERE ARE NO GOOD CARTELS. Zs do more destruction and they are much greater in size... 1 + 1 = 2...

  17. All cartels recruit children, CDG and CDS included. I mean try me find one person who looks over 20 in the gente nueva propaganda video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GeEF3bpJ93k

Pitufo is not a kid though, he's been a comandante since at least the war in Nuevo Laredo, so by modern standards I guess he's an old-timer. Doesn't mean he's important but he's been around. He even has his own song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DIWe1uAl7zc
