US-Mexico Drug Tunnel Discovered

Authorities in Mexico discover a tunnel being dug underneath the US border for transporting drugs from Tijuana to California.

Following a surveillance operation, Mexican soldiers uncovered the tunnel being constructed inside a house near the US border with Mexico and caught ten people digging at the site with shovels.

Nine men and a woman were arrested at the scene. Police said the 298 metre-long tunnel which had not been completed, was big enough for a grown man to stand in and was fitted with electrical and ventilation systems.

It is believed Mexican drug cartels have bored scores of tunnels under the US-Mexico border in recent years to counter increased security along the border with neighbouring states California, Arizona and Texas.

Tijuana is the principal gateway for drugs entering California from the Mexico. In July Mexican soldiers burned 300 acres of marijuana which police believe were destined to pass through improvised tunnels.

  1. I think the mexican government should start collecting all these adept tunnel diggers and make them start working on something for the good of everyone-two huge, underground jails-one on the site of the narcofosa in San Fernando, the other in Durango. This, obviously, only pertains to diggers who were moving earth by choice not the unfortunate, kidnapped migrant workers, reputably forced to build the Sinaloa narcolabs.

  2. I didn't know tunnels were used to transport things. Erroneously, I suppose. I thought vehicles and or vessels were used to transport things from point A to point B. Come on! learn some English you underdeveloped wannabe reporters. You reflect everything that is wrong about Mexico, and that is mediocrity. In fact, mediocrity is the top one Mexican export. It's your inferior mentality that will always make you Mexican regardless of the color of your skin, where you live or the language you pretend to know how to speak or how to write. Furthermore I am in a dilemma here, I don't know what is more pathetic, the way you compose your pieces or what your pieces are about.
