Video in which Members of La Línea Beat and Dismember Joaquin Gallegos

A member of Borderland Beat had posted a link of a video on YouTube on the BB Forums that was eventually deleted by YouTube for its violent content. BDN was able to pull it from YouTube before it could be deleted and we managed to pull it from BDN.

The video is recorded by members of the criminal group known as La Línea and is directed at the members of El Chapo Guzman. Please be warned that the content is extremely graphic with violence.

In the recording lasting approximately five minutes there is a message in the beginning, "El Diego continues at 100 with La Linea. This is what is going to happen to the betrayals that do not believe and who support El Chapo" it says.

A man is inside a room wearing only underwear with his hands and feet tied, and blindfolded. Soon after two men begin to savagely beat him with a bat, the scene is brutally violent, the victim rolls in pain and agony, because he can't do anything to defend himself.

The restrained man stops moving, apparently killed from the blows from the bat. Then the victim appears nude and they start to dismember him.

The video ends with a message that says, "Ministerial police who support Chaputo," and numerous photographs of men are displayed. "For those who do not believe here is the proof Joaquin Gallegos, executed May 13, 2011 and keep supporting El Chaputo."

Source: BDN

Warning: Video is extremely graphic.

  1. El Diego is apparently a rising star with La Linea, been seeing his name all over the place lately. Is he a JL successor, or subordinate?

Question, in 2008, when the fighting starting heavily in Juarez, was it the Juarez group who was killing the policemen, and writing their names as a list, 'THOSE WHO CONTINUE NOT BELIEVING', or was that Sinaloa?

Does anyone think either side can push the other out, without a heavy loss on either side? I guess they are just waiting each other out at this point.

  2. rising star in la linea... hahaha

la linea is on its last leg. chapo has viceroy and all his minions on their last leg. Why all of the sudden are we seeing these videos from them? Its a last ditch effort to try and scare chapo's men from dealing a death blow we all know is coming.

  3. These are not men, they are animals! There is nothing macho about their actions. they are simply cowards that cannot fight fair. Always it is with overwhelming force.

Where are their families in all of this? Sanctioning this behavior, they should all go to jail for profiting from these crimes - wives, grown children, sisters, brothers, parents.

  4. La Linea is still holding down CD Juarez. CDS is in bedded in every rivals cartels territory. La Linea will continue to hold down Juarez, and they are not on a last leg. This is a family that is no where short of money, and people are tired of CDS invading everybody's territory. La Linea will continue operating and the fighting will continue until there is a truce.

  5. J, El Diego was El JL's Bodyguard and el jl could trust him because el diego is just as hard as him.and so El JL left him in charge,so hes been down forever. And when they started fightin it was sinaloa who was writing that because they were trying to get the cops to switch to their side..Here we go again with the people who know alot about juarez but all they could do is get on at 8 and 3 in the morning to talk about gay ass weed and la lineas clothing. And then he got on to say that he wasn't a fan but then says some dumb shit about Cup noodles so that it says that hes a follower and not even a fan,a groopie.

  6. LA LINEA WILL FOREVER BE JUAREZ JUST LIKE CDS WILL FOREVER BE SINALOA. A LITTLE FIGHTING AINT BRINGING THEM DOWN. THE ONLY WAY IS IF EL VICEROY, JL, AND THE REST OF THE MAIN LEADERS ARE TAKEN OUT OR SWITCHES SIDES. ALONG AS THESE MOFOS ARE UP, THE FIGHTING WILL CONTINUE.

  7. I take it that BB doesn't want to be challenged on their editorial policy. My previous post didn't make it because, I assume, I expressed my opinion that this video should not be posted because it provides no news and appeals only to people sick enough to enjoy watching someone beaten to death.

This is a snuff video. Whether the participants are related to the narco world doesn't change anything. BB (and it's competitors) post snuff videos to increase readership which in turn increases revenue which keeps BB going. But it's a snuff video not information or opinion about the Mexican narco world.

  9. To anon. at 6:39pm

We at Borderland Beat, and the vast majority of our readers, find these videos abhorent in the extreme, however we do not censor news coming out of Mexico.

As disturbing as the video is it forms part of the narrative of the drug war being fought in Mexico. We truely wish we could avoid publishing it but it is what it is.

We present what mainstream media won't, or can't, to the best of our ability so that our readership can be informed of the situation, and can reflect upon it and debate it.

As to your statements about our revenue stream, let me assure you that there is none. Anyone knowlegable about the blogosphere can easily discern that.

    Saludos

  10. I don't even watch the execution videos, but to deny their relevance, or the insight they give us, is asinine. I don't know how you would reach the conclusion they have no useful knowledge, they show the players as they really are, the clothes, the music, the background, and of course the brutality.

  11. Gerardo - I think I understand your policy of no censorship and I like it up to a point. If it's narco news, post it, all of it and don't change anything. That's honest and it's consistent. BDN picked up this video and you believe it to be accurate because you respect BDN's sources. It's ugly but so is the whole drug war. Post it.

But don't you think Mr. Gallegos' family, children would have a problem with the video being published? Maybe you don't care about his family because 1) you think he had it coming or 2) you don't think BB is vulnerable to any legal or other type of action or 3) you don't think the family has the resources to take any action?

Put yourself in their shoes and you can't post it. Morally it would be wrong to make public a video showing your father beaten to death with a bat. Legally, at least in the US, the publisher would be vulnerable to a civil suit for the damage caused to the family. That's one reason mainstream media (like youtube) wouldn't publish the video.

So the reason you post the video is to entertain your readers. You tell yourself you are not in the entertainment business, you are in the hard-core news business - and you are right. BB does a hell of a good job providing it's readers with a whole lot of solid daily news about this godawful drug war in Mexico. Everyone reads BB almost daily and appreciates your work.

But every so often you post a snuff video - 'cause it's shocking and nauseating and gory and some people like that kind of excitement.

    Best Regards,

  12. So the video disturbed you comfort level of your secure way of living? Poor baby. Mexican live this shit every day, I live in Mexico and we see this shit day in and day out, how dare BB invade you comfort level? You are the reason why BB needs to show it, know it, not water it down becasue it hurts for you to see it, get over yourself.

At least you have a choice, you don't have to view the video, people in Mexico have no choice, they are in the middle of the shit. I don't think most of us are here for the gore, there are plenty of sites out there for that, don't you know? We are here because we want to see what is happening in Mexico, everything; the good, the bad and the ugly. Does it anger you to see the violence? Well it should!

To say these video has no news value is the main reason why we are the way we are, fucking denial. Go home close, your blinds and hide from the world, but that will not change the fact the shits like this is really happening, quit insulting us BB readers as some cheap thrill seekers just because brutal violence is a way of life in Mexico and BB opens it for us to see.

    Don't change anything BB!

  13. wat goes around comes around my friend. god is waching. they need to get smart (all countries) and legalize cannabis, sick of corporations putting a greater interest in profit of suffering than wanting to help.

  14. J - what did you get out of watching a Mexican snuff video that you didn't have before you watched it? Say the bad guys grabbed you and for whatever reason, beat you to death, taped it and posted the video (and it was picked by BB) identifying you as the victim. How would your family feel about that?

12:36 - the people in Mexico have more choices than they want to admit. They have accepted violence, corruption and impunity for many years. Changing that will take time and sacrifice.

Let's say Joaquin Gallegos was your relative or your neighbor or you. Are you ok with BB making this video available for your kids to see?

You were not aware that violence is "a way of life in Mexico"? You needed to see a man beaten to death to be made aware of that? So you don't understand that being run over by a train is a bad idea? You need to have it happen to you? Then you are in denial. If you take my previous post as an insult it's because you feel guilty and you need to get over yourself.

I expect you will respond with the argument that the victim probably had it coming. Don't waste your time - it's a bullshit argument that the Mexican government uses over and over.

  15. Did you miss where I said I didn't watch it? And, I never watch the execution videos? But, people should be able to, I think some people do have the wrong responses, and reasons for watching, but what can you do about that? I made a post about why they are interesting to me, it's a few comments up, I don't want to repeat it. Also, the discussion, the good discussion, that comes from it is very informative.

Look, a few more posts up, what was said about El Diego and El JL, which is information that is hard to come by.

  17. I understand both sides of the story but I do agree if it has some information like reporting corrupt authorities working for a certain cartel or valuable information of some type maybe it should be published but there is a difference between that and the senseless beating of a human being with a bat, what value does that really have? Other than serving as a propaganda tool for la linea.

  19. I couldn't watch this. It's too graphic and the music makes me want to throw up my lunch! How could these beasts beat this man like that? HOW? How can we just sit here comfortably and watch this shit? It boils my blood. I don't care that these guys 'live by the sword' as the saying goes, no one deserves to go like that, to be tortured. What has my culture become? Demons on earth, that's what! I'm ashamed of these Mexicans doing this to their fellow Mexicans and for what? A piece of the pie? A piece of rotten pie that's only going to get thrown in your face when you fall to the same fate? Is it worth it, you scumbags? They should be shot once in the head once they're caught. End it there!

  20. This is one of the reasons I recently decided to stop using drugs. I've been using drugs..mainly weed..for over 8 years. In the last couple of years tho I started doing coke. I knew what I was doing and where my money was going. I feel like I have blood on my hands and one day I will have to answer to that when I meet my maker..I hope He forgives me. I'm so upset with myself that I got caught up in that shit and especially knowing that people have been getting slaughtered to keep the game going. I don't know how to make up for my sins but I'm trying.
