Explosives Workshop Raided after Shootout in Balleza, Chihuahua

By "El Huaso" for Borderland Beat

Chihuahua state authorities seized improvised explosive devices and machinery used to produce explosives at a property in the municipality of Balleza, Chihuahua, during a raid on Thursday.

The raid happened on the afternoon of October 8, following an shootout between Sedena soldiers and gunmen in the Pinalejo region of Balleza, where two gunmen were killed.

During a search of the house, authorities found three explosive devices, an electric generator, a vertical milling machine, and a CNC machine. The machinery was used to make homemade explosives, likely to be dropped by a commercial drone.

This region of Chihuahua is controlled by Gente Nueva de los Salgueiro, a Sinaloa Cartel faction currently loyal to Mayito Flaco, according to researcher El Halipon.
