Mexican authorities announced Tuesday the arrest in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, of Jesús Antonio “N,” alias “El Peli,” identified as a key logistics and financial operator for Genaro Aarón “N” of the Los Chapitos faction of the Sinaloa Cartel.
According to Security Minister Omar García Harfuch, El Peli was arrested along with four others during a federal security operation in Mazatlán, Sinaloa. Contacto Revista identified the apartment complex as a new luxury high rise in the Sábalo Country neighborhood right off the western coast of Mazatlán.
Harfuch stated that El Peli coordinated logistics, managed the finances of the organization, and participated in kidnappings, and worked under Genaro Aarón Pérez Avendaño, alias El Chamaco, a hitman commander in Mazatlán previously reported on by organized crime researcher Hearst.
Over the last two years since the August 2024 Sinaloa Cartel fracture, the Chapitos have slowly lost control over much of Sinaloa state, but have held on to regions in southern Sinaloa, including Mazatlán, Concordia, Rosario, and Escuinapa.
