11 Individuals Arrested in Connection with "El Casco," a Criminal Leader Linked to the Kidnapping of Miners in Concordia

“Sol Prendido” for Borderland Beat

"El Casco" is linked to the kidnapping and murder of 10 miners in Concordia.

Personnel from the Mexican Army, in coordination with the Special Operations Group of the Sinaloa Secretariat of Public Security, arrested 11 members of the "Chapitos" faction of the "Pacific Cartel" in the act while conducting ground reconnaissance and patrols in the town of La Isla del Bosque, in the municipality of Escuinapa.

The detainees are linked to Oscar Luciano Martínez Larios—alias "Casco"—a regional leader for the "Chapitos." He is connected to the unlawful detention and killing of 10 workers from the mining company Canam/Vizsla Silver Corp., an incident that took place on January 23, 2026, in La Concordia.

Seized items

Following the arrest, authorities seized 12 long guns, magazines, and ammunition of various calibers, as well as tactical gear.

The detainees and the seized items were handed over to the Attorney General's Office (FGR) in Culiacán for further legal proceedings.
