Explosives Manufacturing Facility Dismantled in Guadalupe y Calvo

“Sol Prendido” for Borderland Beat

As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security and restore order and peace in the mountain region, agents from the State Investigation Agency (AEI)—attached to the Southern Zone District Prosecutor's Office—coordinated with personnel from the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA) to locate and destroy an explosives storage and manufacturing site. This operation took place in the locality of San Pedro Chinatú, in the municipality of Guadalupe y Calvo.

During ground reconnaissance patrols, operational personnel identified the site—allegedly used for criminal activities—and seized hundreds of materials, tools, components, and supplies believed to be used for the production and manufacture of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).

The seized items included various components such as containers, reactive substances, power supply systems, initiation and activation mechanisms, and connection and assembly materials, as well as some completed homemade mortars.

Following the completion of inspection procedures and the securing of evidence, the facility was destroyed and rendered unusable in accordance with established safety protocols, thereby preventing its continued use for the manufacture of such devices.

The State Attorney General's Office, through the State Investigation Agency and in close coordination with authorities across various levels of government, reaffirms its commitment to combating crime head-on and ensuring public safety.
