Five Bodies and Burned Vehicles Found after Shootout in San Francisco de Borja, Chihuahua

By "El Huaso" for Borderland Beat

A shootout between La Línea and La Gente Nueva del Tigre left at least five dead outside the town of Tutuaca, in San Francisco de Borja, Chihuahua this morning.

The shootout likely occurred overnight or early morning of 27 June. The event was geolocated by Pernicious Propaganda to the  Nonoava - El Mirador highway, just east of the town of Tutuaca.

At the scene, authorities found five bodies, three of them burned, while the other two were located off the highway. Authorities found shell casings and five magazines, but no weapons or tactical gear, suggesting one group looted the scene after winning the firefight.

The shootout was between La Línea, the armed wing of the Nueva Cartel de Juarez and La Gente Nueva del Tigre, a faction aligned with the Los Mayos faction of the Sinaloa Cartel.

Despite a 20% decrease in 2026, the state of Chihuahua has one of the highest rates of murder in Mexico. In the first five months of 2026, it ranked third nationally in the number of victims, with 590 murders.

  6. La Linea has been pushing hard into the south of the state since last year and MF has been pushing to get Ojinag…. Seems MF wants a piece of the border and La Linea seems to be trying to get into Sinaloa each push they make .. they have made into Durango but never established anything there so got kicked out fast…Tigre’s group is strong and has good fighters but have been struggling to push back linea in the real small towns I believe its cuz mf is pushing hard to get a border entry in the state . But they have been fighting for yours honestly does it really even matter leaders / commanders come & go so ehh whatever way it goes it doesn’t affect anyone of us truly
