Yesterday afternoon, two police officers were killed and another was wounded after a vehicle chase and shootout with Los Metros in southern Reynosa, Tamaulipas.
The shooting occured around 6:30 p.m. in Valle Soleado, where members of the Fuerza Civil were conducting a patrol when they were attacked by armed men. One officer died at the scene, with two others taken to the hospital, where the second officer died of his injuries.
Criminals burned a vehicle in a the nearby Fraccionamiento San Fernando neighborhood, likely as a distraction to aid their escape.
After the shooting, Fuerza Civil and National Guard established a checkpoint inspecting all vehicles entering and leaving the San Francisco subdivision. A helicopter was also deployed, but the suspects have not been found.
The confrontation is the highest toll event in Reynosa for many weeks. Reports of gunfire and tirespikes are a near nightly event in the city, but the targeting of security forces is rare. The attack could have been a random opportunistic ambush, or a planned retaliation for the recent capture of Alexander Benavides Flores ”Metro 9" arrested in Reynosa on 27 April.
Stupid move with all the pressure from the north and the soccer matches coming.

DeleteMijo, there would not be no pressure, if the government of Mexico, was not so soft on cartels.

who the infiltrados?
Reynosa has been a craphole of place ever since that singer Valentin Elizalde got blasted there by the original Zetas. Americans should not cross the border to go there. I also remember some brothers went there for cosmetic surgery and got kidnapped because they were mistaken for African immigrants. Nuff Said!!!
