"El Chucky" Arrested in Exclusive Manzanillo District; Identified as CJNG "Plaza Boss"

“Sol Prendido” for Borderland Beat

Lorenzo Sánchez, alias "El Chucky"—the alleged regional boss of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG)—was arrested this Monday in the municipality of Manzanillo.

The suspected ringleader of the criminal organization was captured during a deployment of federal and state forces in a joint operation carried out in the vicinity of Santiago Bay, one of the most exclusive areas of Manzanillo.

The detainee is implicated in his probable involvement in acts classified by law as high-impact crimes—including homicide, kidnapping, and extortion—as well as the distribution and sale of narcotics in the state of Colima. Furthermore, he is directly linked to a criminal organization originating in the state of Jalisco.

The operation—during which no shots were fired—involved both desk-based and field investigative work to track the alleged criminal, who is accused of various federal offenses and is considered a key driver of violence in the area.

During the arrest, illicit substances—allegedly intended for distribution and packaged for individual sale—were found in his possession. Following his capture, he was transported under heavy security, marking a significant blow against criminal operations in the port city.

Following his arrest, "El Chuky" will be brought before a judge to determine his legal status.

In accordance with the provisions of Article 13 of the National Code of Criminal Procedure, the detainee is presumed innocent and shall be treated as such at all stages of the proceedings, until their liability is declared by means of a judgment issued by the competent judicial authority.

  6. Its funny how they have been arresting some high level cjng members. Then other ones fall. I'll bet each one is snitching on the next. I'm sure its probably hard not too when the cops torture the criminals to get them to confess. Mexican cops can get away with alot more then American cops do. The cops here wish they could do the stuff that the cops do down south

  8. Great work, the cartel cancer needs to be removed. Anyone who supports evil cartels is not a true Mexican. I applaud the brave citizens, law enforcement and journalists who risk their lives so we can be free.

  9. Got to say , America has put pressure to Mexico to battle drug traffickers. Something that previous Mexican administrations did not do.
    Something long overdue.
