"HEARST" and "Sol Prendido" for Borderland Beat
Cartel de Noreste (CDN) denounced Gulf Cartel - Metros' leader El Primito in two banners placed in a highly visible and highly public area of Mexico City.
Quick Review
Cartel de Noreste, the Zetas splinter group, has been fighting against the Gulf Cartel - Metros faction for control la Frontera Chica, the northwestern region of Tamaulipas which borders the US. This region is made up of the municipalities of Guerrero, Mier, Miguel Aleman, Camargo and Diaz Ordaz, as seen on the map below.
The Gulf Cartel - Metros faction is led by César Morfín Morfín, alias “El Primito”, codename "Metro 300". To read more about Primito, his relatives, and his criminal history, please see this previous story.
Meanwhile, Cartel de Noreste is allegedly led by Juan Cisneros Treviño, alias "El Juanito" - at least that's what rumors claimed during the immediate aftermath of El Huevo's arrest in Marvch 2022.
Up until that arrest, Juan Gerardo Treviño Chávez, alias “El Huevo”, had been CDN's leader, taking over control of the group in 2017 and heading the group for five years.
It is important to note that El Huevo and El Juanito are cousins. To see which of the Trevino siblings each are descended from, please see the chart below.
The Mexico City Banners
On March 25, 2023, a number of individuals (possibly hitmen) held up two printed banners at El Ángel monument, which is located on Paseo de la Reforma Street, a major thoroughfare in downtown Mexico City.
There is quite a large distance between Mexico City, where the banners appeared, and la Frontera Chica, where Primito’s group operates.
As of the writing of this story, two Twitter accounts, Tamaulipas RTC & Demonio TV, have posted images of the banners.
The banners had a printed narco message which reads as follows, as translated by Sol Prendido:
This message is for our President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, along with all businessmen and citizens,
Before there were not hundreds of disappearances and extortions in La Frontera Chica region.
From the towns of Diaz Ordaz to Miguel Aleman, Tamaulipas, we hold accountable the criminal and genocidal Cesar Morfin Morfin aka El Primito, head of Los Metros, a criminal group in the area, along with his brother Alvaro Morfín Morfín, aka El R8, guilty of causing those people to go missing.
We demand a more secure [safe] Tamaulipeca society, on account of the fact that we’ve had this problem for over 10 years now. Our children, including our grandchildren, don't know the peace of a society with a good rule of law. Since the law in these towns has a name and a surname and his name is Cesar Morfin Morfin.

ReplyDeleteHow they know it was CDN?
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't say on the banner
Great question. I meant to address this in my article. One of the few Twitter accounts which posted this story early on claimed it was CDN who placed the banners.

CDN is the most likely perpetrator because they are currently Primito's primary rival.
Primito supposedly has a truce with the CDG Matamoros alliance, the only other possible perpetrator.
This cdg click is way more powerful than CDN. Primito has ties with mencho so you know they crossing big weight of drugs through there
