The would be the first selected individual by the cartel to take the fall.

The Americans were rescued at a Matamoros stash house.

Ms. McGee and Mr. Williams were rescued alive and have since been returned to the US. Mr. Woodard and Mr. Brown were killed.

****Two victims were delivered to the U.S. via an international bridge on Tuesday in collaboration with the U.S. consulate in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Attorney General Irving Barrios Mojica said in a tweet.

Separately, a Mexican official told Reuters on Tuesday that two men had been found dead. The official said the woman and another man were alive, safe, and in the hands of authorities.

The Governor of Tamaulipas confirms that the four Americans kidnapped on Friday in Matamoros have already been located. Among them, two were dead and one wounded.

In a telephone call, the governor of #Tamaulipas, @Dr_AVillarreal, confirmed that the 4 US citizens kidnapped in #Matamoros were already found. There are 2 deceased, one injured, and another citizen alive.

CNN Breaking news update, 10:18 a.m. ET (1 minute after BB)
Two of the Americans kidnapped by armed gunmen in Mexico on Friday were found dead, and two are alive, the governor of Tamaulipas, Américo Villarreal Anaya, said in a phone call with Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador on Tuesday.

The four Americans have been identified as Latavia "Tay" McGee, Shaeed Woodard, Zindell Brown, and Eric James Williams. According to her mother, McGee and her cousin Woodard were among the victims in Matamoros, along with their friends Brown and Williams.

Two of the four Americans who were shot at by gunmen and kidnapped shortly after crossing the border into northern Mexico last week are dead, according to the governor of Tamaulipas state.

Attorney General of Tamaulipas

Gov. Américo Villarreal made the announcement over the phone at a presidential news conference Tuesday morning, noting that one of the surviving victims is wounded and the other unharmed.

It’s not clear where they were found.

Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said further details would be released later.

“We are very sorry that this happened in our country, and we send our condolences to the families of the victims, friends, and the United States government, and we will continue doing our work to guarantee peace and tranquility," he said.

Tamaulipas Attorney General Irving Barrios Mojica tweeted Tuesday that the four U.S. citizens were found by “joint search actions.” He said that work is underway to capture those behind the kidnapping.

- “Of the four, two of them are dead, one person is wounded, and the other is alive, and right now, the ambulances and the rest of the security personnel are going for them to give the corresponding support," Villarreal said

-Mica: For those with comments.  What will come from this beyond an apology to the US?

  4. It appears that they were lured into Mexico under the promise of a butt lift for the female. Either the surgeon doesn't exist or his information was compromised. Traveling to Mexico with $7,000 in cash is never a good idea.

    1. The woman that was going for surgery had been once before and already consulted with her doctor. This was her second surgery. So clearly the clinic and the doctor existed.

    2. I can't find anything that says she previously saw a doctor. Everything suggests that this was her first visit to Mexico. If you have something different, please post.

    3. Her mother said it in multiple articles. Also, she was supposedly going for a tummy tuck. Not that it matters whether it was a butt lift or tummy tuck. It's possible her first procedure was a gastric bypass or sleeve, and the tummy tuck was a follow up to the weight loss from the first surgery.

But the real blame should go on the government, cause of all the corruption and cover ups when things happen these guys are basically above the law in a sense because they just give payouts or bribes to have the top officials look the other way or they give info on their rivals and they release em

    12. @3:47 I don't think so. We've destroyed enough countries and there's always collateral damage i.e. killing innocent civilians. We've pissed off enough countries and more than enough damage. As I stated in a previous comment we should be sending our manufacturing from China to Mexico. Not dealing with a permanently installed despot who has our interest not a priority as an understatement of magnitude. We could bring them jobs and a more stable economy with real opportunity , save money on shipping, have higher quality products (that's my opinion based off of personal experience and the durability of things made in both countries) but also a people who we share a lot of culture with and share common values and compared to China this can't be overstated enough. We should build them up and be good neighbors. Or we could blame them for people who choose to put certain things in their arms I'm sure china would appreciate that and that sweet sweet lithium ocean they have there among countless other abundant super rare minerals there. I know I'm rambling but I had to add, I'm not suggesting that we try to pillage or plunder Mexico's resources but that mexico is sitting on one off the biggest treasure chests on earth and should take advantage of it.

I'm actually going back to correct myself/ ink innuendo, as I am not implying that direct torture took place nor have I read any implications of this, but keeping two people in a shed in a backyard for 3 days, a man shot, naked in his own blood certainly isn't a happy time, but I can't find any evidence of direct torture/interrogation. I am confused why they just didn't free them on a dirt road to be found anonymously? I hope we get further info?

      Delete
    6. You know what? You're absolutely right, and I completely overlooked it and was fooled. It just goes to show that if you Google something or have an agenda, you can find it which is exactly what I did. I was inquiring if there were torture allegations and sure enough New York Post was the only source that came up, I went running to it, hence I fell victim to 'supporting your own propaganda/ aka flawed belief system 101" It's ironic that as long as it's not CNN or Fox News both of which are not reliable and outright bias and if it doesn't slap you in the face of trash at first glance it's easy to believe anything. Frequently when somebody calls me on something I agree with it and it makes me think.
I'm not sure if you'll ever come back to check this response but I actually looked up the validity of New York Post and it was referred to as one of the least reliable sources according to the Pew Research Center. Okay, thank you for opening my eyes to my own hubris also known as my own ignorant ass🚀🐑

    2. @9:19am Don't be so sure. Anything is possible. Probable? Well, first a Mexican-American must build a nationwide profile. Not just Southern California or Texas. There doesn't seem to be one waiting in the wings.
I thought Alberto Gonzales would have had a solid go of it had he chosen that route. He was US Attorney General under George W. Bush.
But there's hope. If a black man with the middle name of Hussein and a first name that rhymes with Osama can be President, that all things are possible. I would be happy to see a Mexican-American President. I would not vote for a GOP Mexican-American President. Just because he/she is GOP.

This ppl were lacking all comkon sense and put themselves in a bad situation by jist saying fuck it and going into mexico without any knowledge of how things are down in mexico and to make a situation worse they did it on a day where there was a beef brewing in matamoros. Inform yourselves by reading in places like this that exposes the violence. I hope this incident stops a lot of dumbass springbrakers from going to mexico in the future. Which reminds me about a story i read a few day back. Is there a new cartel in acapulco aside from the cida cartel? Under amlo halfed assed leadership not just violence is spreading but new criminals groups are popping up like weeds.

  14. The female had no criminal court cases I could find. The males *may* have had some drug, gun, burglary and domestic violence charges amongst them, but nothing to indicate they would be involved with a cartel. Hard to confirm that the court records I saw are the same people in Matamoros without having dates of birth, as the names are somewhat common and it's easy to confuse the wrong "Eric James Williams" with the right Eric Williams. You can check yourself here: https://publicindex.sccourts.org/florence/publicindex/ Speculation is running rampant about the purpose of their trip, but medical tourism is a thing, especially for plastic surgery and dental procedures.

    6. Exactly! This would be a disaster. I'm hoping we could make mexico our number one trading partner and move our manufacturing from China to there. For all of the people who hate immigration it would give opportunities for the people there and bring stability. Also aside from the benefits of being less dependent on a hostile adversarial nation who constantly is engaged in intellectual property theft and copywrite infringement it would bring us closer to a friendly neighbor with whome we share similar values. Win win. And let's be honest the QC would be orders of magnitude higher ensuring better products for the consumer. So, win win win.

    3. I heard a rumor, that Al Sharpton and Crump Civil rights attorney are headed to meet up, with the surviving members, they plan to sue, The Mexican government, for wrongful deaths, and letting cartels run amock.
I see $$$$$$$ in the lawsuit.

  25. Can anyone help me understand why the kidnappers left the living male victim lying on top of the body of a Mexican man wrapped in blankets? I see the blood smear on the floor so they must have pushed the body into that position, then put the nude injured man on top, why this weird arrangement?

    1. I want an explanation on this too, but I am sure it was a combination of him being injured and them wanting to humiliate him for control. Naked on a tortured corpse.

    2. Ok a friend just explained that the kidnappers wouldn’t have had permission for this crime, so the real cartel was mad, found out where the victims were being held, tortured the criminals to death and laid the victim on top as a signal that the men underneath were guilty before tipping it in.

    3. 05:29 are you huffing glue? Do you really think Cartels operate like real companies that have CEOs and board meetings, and every followsnorders and asks before scamming robbing or killing.

    4. I don't understand what all of that shooting was about if they were unarmed? I mean if you watch the video is sounds like a warzone, an all out gun battle. I just feel like there's more to this.

You haven't read the latest updates 😂.
Yes your right they were unarmed, they happened to get into the vortex, the epicenter of a shoot-out, amongst 2 Cartels, one of the cartell group, assumed they were involved, when they had just came into Mexico, for an appointment for a Tummy tuck procedure for the lady.
After the fiasco, she missed her appointment, and more likely will not want to come back, after developing PTSD, and losing 2 friends.

  26. Not a lot of talk about the women from Mexico who was just standing on the street and took a bullet. I'm sure she had someone who loved her. So sad that life is so cheap south of the boarder.

  27. Such a travesty, the treatment these 4 tourists from USA got in Mexico, is beyond comprehension, the new video, the photos in the shack, now it really shows, that she went for a $3,700 tummy tuck. They got treated like Salvages, the license plate from USA, did nothing. Lastly they did not go with any weapons to defend themselves. This Cartel that did it, should be ashamed.

    1. Usa plates dont mean shit to anyone that is not in the usa. This american entitlement that because your a usa citizen you shld be ok dont exist. Americans are eazy pickings for criminals abroad exactly because of this thinking that im american u cant touch me. Check how many americans are missing after going to mexico and you be shocked. Its sad what heppened to this ppl but its their fault. Didnt some black ppl get killed in mexico not long ago they were on vacation. Mexico is not safe and dumbass americans black white or hispanic need to fucking understand that, period. To be honest im surprised they didnt kill the other 2 and disolve all the bodies.

    2. Why is nobody up in arms about the astronautical number of Mexican citizens who are killed daily or are extorted and forced to live under constant fear of threat of violence, death of themselves or a loved one or being kidnapped with nobody to turn to and a blind eye from the government? The Americans don't have the luxury of these problems in their own country and chose to go to Mexico and get a taste of real problems. Call it a reality check, call it dumb luck, call it anything. But don't call it a tragedy without acknowledging the suffering of others especially one who have no choice in the matter.

      That's an easy answer.
The republic government of Mexico, could care less, if their citizens are getting slaughtered every day.
You think the president puts on the news, to listen of every thing that is happening in Mexico? Nope he tunes out .

    4. @1.03. You should read these comments again. Very few are treating it like a tragedy. Most are treating it like a joke (after getting the RIP out of the way) or speculating. They ''chose to go to Mexico and get a taste of real problems''? Innocents from a different culture are still innocents, and if you can't see that it makes your grief for Mexican innocents sound hollow.

  30. I haven’t read through the comments incase someone said the same but I find it kinda funny how they’re kidnappings and killings everyday that go unheard or no arrest made but when it’s an American and we put the pressure on…Poof we find, locate, rescue and make arrest within 72 hours… Top brass stepped in and was like you fucking dumb ass’s “what did I say, no Americans, or don’t get caught” now someone’s gotta pay the piper!

    1. I was saying something similar but my comment was removed. Do you know what the exact rules are here? I've been here for years but don't usually comment. Are we not allowed to talk about crime statistics? It wasn't in a pejorative way, I was just pointing out how the police here can hardly solve anything, but when it has to do with mexico they suddenly go all Sherlock Holmes and magnum pi. Idk if it's like a hubris thing with the US government or what but sometimes I feel like they need to try to outshine Mexico's officials and take all the credit. I hope my comment stays up, I just want to follow the rules and have constructive dialogue.

    1. Cyclone 19 plaza boss of Matamoros will have to pay the price, regardless if he knew about it or gave the order. This is an instance where the gringos have to be given justice for the overall health of the bilateral relationship (which is way bigger than a plaza boss on border). The US Navy and FBI had personal on site in Matamoros on Sunday. I am sure the US intel already has his location.

  33. First condolences to the deceased families. Second, Ii's not unusual for multiple people to tag along and make a vacation of it. For a tummy tuck, she would've had a mandatory 10 day recovery period or more. The surgeons down there do beautiful work. I know tons of women who've had work there and no problems. Treated like queens. A close friend has visited three times for multiple procedures. And she looks GOOD.

  35. When they have an American kidnapped in mexico there are only two people you need Benicio Del Toro (Alejandro) and Denzel Washington (John W. Creasy). Send them in and game over for the cartel hitman.
