leader of international gang MS-13 arrested, who brought members to Las Vegas for guns and drug distribution

Chivis Borderland Beat  TY Gus!  Review Journal

A reputed leader of international gang MS-13 brought other high-ranking members of the group to Las Vegas in order to distribute drugs and sell guns, a prosecutor said Tuesday.

Federal agents seized at least 10 pounds of “pure or basically pure” methamphetamine from two of the men led to the valley by 43-year-old Adali Arnulfo Escalante-Trujillo, identified as a “shot caller” for the gang, according to Assistant U.S. Attorney Shaheen Torgoley.

When his Las Vegas home was raided this month, his girlfriend, identified as Heidi Garcia, tried to flush the drugs down a toilet, the prosecutor said during a court hearing, adding that she could soon face state charges.

Defense attorney David Fischer said Escalante-Trujillo has lived in Las Vegas for 30 years, including the past 16 at the same address. Escalante-Trujillo has worked in the masonry business for the past seven years, the attorney said.

The prosecutor said tattoos on Escalante-Trujillo’s chest and MS-13 letters displayed in his home in the blue and white colors of the Salvadoran flag proved that he was deeply involved with the gang.

Of the 21 counts leveled against 13 people in Nevada, Escalante-Trujillo faces 20, including engaging in a continuing criminal enterprise, conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance, distribution of a controlled substance, and conspiracy to deal in firearms without a license.

While he was questioned by investigators last week, Escalante-Trujillo, also known as “Buchaca,” spoke of plans to return to El Salvador, where he was born, “to live out the rest of his life,” the prosecutor said.

MS-13 is a transnational gang made up primarily of immigrants or descendants of immigrants from El Salvador. MS-13 has been in the U.S. since at least the 1980s.

Last week, President Donald Trump announced that key figures of the gang had been indicted in New York and Nevada. Some of them face charges of terrorism, murder, kidnapping, and drug trafficking.

The arrests stem from allegations that date to July 2019, a little more than two months after three other suspected MS-13 gang members were indicted in Nevada on murder and racketeering charges in connection with the kidnapping and slaying of a rival gang member.

Torgoley said that one of the men indicted along with Escalante-Trujillo, Alvaro Ernesto Perez Carias, also known as “Toro,” 50, of Los Angeles, was a founding member of the gang.

In January, Escalante-Trujillo told an undercover agent that another man also facing weapons charges, Rosalio Andres Siguenza-Romero, “could get the purchaser whichever firearms the purchaser wished,” according to the indictment.

Prosecutors allege that he had direct contact with a founding member of MS-13 in El Salvador led the gang’s “Hollywood Locos” clique out of Las Vegas, and bragged about violent acts committed by MS-13 and its ties to the Mexican Mafia and “nearly all Mexican Cartels.”

After Tuesday’s hearing, U.S. Magistrate Nancy Koppe ordered Escalante-Trujillo detained pending trial.

    2. Bloods/Crips are irrelevant and they’re treated like the trash that they are. They pay taxes to the organization one way or another. Don’t believe the rappers or Hollywood clowns. Since the truce between northern and southern Mexicans things are totally different, the prison system is now run by the Mexicans (Actually always has been). AB’s loyalty to Southern Mexicans still stands, blacks are on their own and they’re feeling the heat. When the new generation clowns from the black gangs rob a Latino, their whole hood catches heat. Mexican gangs are more about business now. The future is here.

  5. Las Vegas has alway had several intertwined layers of human "creatures". It even has a population of underground moles living I sewage and water drainage tunnels. Las Vegas has the top dwellers that glitter and flutter way above and that we get glimpses of at boxing matches, galas, and bling-bling gatherings. Money, big money, and the flies attracted to it and it's byproducts and infrastructure make Las Vegas what it is. All in one, Las Vegas is also a huge money laundry and place where important things are decided by shadowy worldwide characters.
Las Vegas is "necessary" for the functioning of certain underworld systems as they interface with the upper , more legitimate, systems.
The movie, "Casino" only narrowly captures it's birth years and not much beyond.

So, of course, there has to be a "Latino Connection". It is virtually a natural given that Latinos be an integral and functional part of Las Vegas. Latinos can be seen everywhere as service worker employees, and up, up and beyond into the upper stratus of society, including politics.

MS-13 and drug dealings is just "surface" criminality that the DEA can romp around in. The real shows are well above these tattoed relatively petty criminal actors. We everyday, mush on our chins smucks, have little idea of the much greater Las Vegas that lies beyond the glitter and footlights.

I used to visit Las Vegas and loved to strike up guarded conversations with illegal immigrants mostly from Mexico and Central America who worked the strip handing out sex cards, with taxi drivers, service employees making up rooms. You can learn a lot from these workers on a lot of topics.

My main point in this post, is mostly to point out how relatively trivial is the arrests of these gangsters. The deeper more profound criminal underworld meanings of Las Vegas is not for us "smucks" to know. Lots of bodies are said to be buried out in the desert of people who messed up in Las Vegas. But you know that, of course if you visit B.B. regularly.

    1. Interesting comment 740 and thank you for your service. It's crazy how little most fellow Americans know about our country's dealings with drugs and weapons. Which is why the WOD will never end. It's a money making business for every country's leadership on down. Can you safely shed any more light on what you were exposed to?

    4. 7:40 500 people murdered in My Lai, women, children, young girls, raped, and old men, only one village, but the US servicemen were doing the same all over the place, and their drugs of course...
Some were heros too, like My Lai photographer...
But cartel members are criminals doing what they are supposed to do, unlike government, police or military...
