This Wednesday the Sahuaripa mine in Sonora was robbed by a group of five armed men, who subdued security personnel to extract doré bars, an alloy of gold and silver.

The Alamos Gold company stated in a press release that the criminals carried high-powered weapons with which they subdued the mine guards and later fled in a small plane.

The information indicates that everything happened when the doré bars were loaded onto the plane.

The assault lasted about 10 minutes, according to the statements of the guards, they extracted the bars while a Cessna-206 type plane landed on the runway of the mine where they fled.

According to the company, the stolen ore bars are insured against theft. The Mulatos Mine activated its security protocols and notified the corresponding authorities to locate the aircraft and the stolen mineral.

Just over two weeks ago, another assault occurred on a mining company in the state.

Two armored trucks carrying gold and silver from the La Herradura mine, owned by the Penmont company, were assaulted on March 22 by an armed command in Caborca, Sonora.

The vehicles of the SEPSA company were intercepted by the criminals at around 2:00 p.m., a dump truck went through them to block the path that leads from the mine to the federal highway No. 2, at the height of the El Diamante ejido.

The six employees who were traveling in the trucks were beaten, one of them with minor injuries, while the rest were treated by company doctors who, after reviewing their health, released them.

The amount of the stolen was not disclosed, but according to a statement issued by the Penmont mining company, a subsidiary of Grupo Fresnillo, the armored trucks carried doré bars, an alloy of gold and silver, which "are insured according to the security protocols that the company follows”.

Chivis Note:

The mine is apx 220 km air miles east of Hermosillo, Sonora.  The  Mulatos Mine was acquired for $10 million in 2003 and grown to become a consistent gold producer and significant cash flow generator.  To date, Mulatos has generated approximately $420 million in free cash flow.

  1. They are always robbing them minds I remember not that long ago they stole millions in gold bars from 3 poorly harmed guards that were transporting it in a van what a joke me personally think that it’s the mines owners getting payed 2x 1 from the insurance and the other from the sale of the gold it’s a easy for them to just wait and make it look like they just mined it there’s no way to tell if they just melt it and stamp it again

    2. Mining On the US is not a good business because miners want to make 100 dollars an hour mining coal, and 1000 usd per hour mining gold...

  4. Sounds like an inside job.
Along with the sale of a mine which clearly indicates its estimated value more than its purchase.

  11. 10 million dollars for 420 million, makes one hell of a profit depending on the amount invested in operations.
This is one more reason why the people stay poor. If the people had the money, they wouldn't have to steal.

  13. "The Mulatos Mine was acquired for $10 million in 2003 and grown to become a consistent gold producer and significant cash flow generator. To date, Mulatos has generated approximately $420 million in free cash flow." That was a sweet deal for the buyer, over 24 million a year for the last 17 years selling minerals, or possibly selling 420*?
*It started as the police code for Marijuana Smoking in Progress. After local heads heard of the police call, they started using the expression 420 when referring to herb - Let's Go 420, dude!” ..
