U.S. Government Prohibits Their Personnel From Traveling to Guanajuato

The United States Government issued an alert to its officials not to make trips to Guanajuato.

"The United States Embassy has updated its travel restrictions for United States personnel visiting the State of Guanajuato for official matters," the security alerts page states.

"US Government employees cannot travel south of and including Highway 45D, Celaya, Salamanca, and Irapuato."

Although the reason for the change in the security alert is not specified, in recent days operations have intensified around the Cartel Santa Rosa de Lima, led by José Antonio Yépez Ortiz, alias "El Marro".

On March 10, at least 14 blockades were registered in the Laja-Bajío area, which were attributed to said criminal group.

Secretary Olga Sánchez Cordero boasted this week that "El Marro" is weakened due to the arrest of people close to him, such as his father-in-law and other operators.
