Mexico City, CDMX: Campaign on Drug Production and it’s Effects Has Been Launched

The federal government launched a campaign to combat the consumption of synthetic drugs, as part of the strategy to pacify the country.

After counting all the well-being programs of his Administration, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador assured that his Government addresses the causes of insecurity, guiding and giving options to young people, without "silence pacts" or hiding reality.

"In the case of drug use," he said, "we need to stop the increase in consumption because if this doesn’t succeed, it will be difficult or it will be more complicated to guarantee peace and tranquility." One hundred of those who lose their lives daily, of those killed in clashes, are shown to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, but mainly drugs. "In his morning press conference, López Obrador presented a video that will begin to spread as part of this new campaign, aimed at informing about "the truth of the world of drugs".

"We can now say that there is awareness for young people, because there are options for them to work, so that they can be trained, so they can study, so they can be happy without drugs, because it’s time to show, even with all the crudeness, how drugs harm them and what drugs are made of, "he said.

"These are issues that aren’t known, issues considered taboo, it was a kind of collective complicity not to speak, not to report on this issue, then we will start with a direct campaign on what this subworld of sacrifices, of pain really means, this bitter reality. "

The video presented includes images about the production and effects of drugs.

According to the President, these are "strong images", as they show some of the effects that these substances have on people's health.

In his presentation, the President attributed to this growing consumption of drugs the crimes so "ruthless" that have occurred in the country.

"We need to make it clear that drugs, especially current drugs, chemical drugs, destroy. And what’s seen on television, in the narco series isn’t true. I clarify, we will be respectful, there will be no censorship, but that’s an idyllic world that has nothing to do with reality, the world of residences, beautiful boys and girls, clothing brands, luxury cars, that doesn’t exist.

"The truth is that those who are involved in these illicit activities lives in the backwoods and that isn’t a life worth living, but still the worst is the suffering produced by drugs," he added. López Obrador warned that this life of drug trafficking and use translates into the destruction of families.

    3. His accomplishments don't make no headlines, since he does nothing, 35,000 plus the unaccounted died in 2019, and he had nothing done, to lower the homicides, he offers the criminals hugs and kisses, that solves NADA.

  2. Well said, narco life is not like the narco series pit them in camera but yet MANY will follow that path because of STUPID corridos, movies and narco series.. I've seen many close to me fall for that lifestyle and still to this day here in the U.S. Big disappointment, specially those pills, they don't discriminate sex, religion or color..

    1. A good majority of violent crimes are committed by those who are under the influence here in the US.
A global issue when drugs are involved.
Good intentions often go bad when bad influences are factors.

    3. @5:42 oh yes it does. Mexicans imitate everything about the US, they love all the US consumer goods and brands and especially all that shit hiphop. Whatever ppl in the US do, Mexicans want to do eventually. They will just beg forgiveness from their Virgin Of Guadalupe after they snort meth and shoot their rivals with US weapons.

    1. I believe the north (America) would prefer incarceration over any such educational system.
      Profits over sound reasoning.

Cuts in medical treatment and rehabilitation programs by federal government agencies are very transparent. Closing facilities treatments for many who do seek assistance.

    2. Agree @ E42
The whole US justice system would not fully benefit from it.
Specially the US federal prison system and private corporations whom benefit tremendously from inmates

Glad some are paying attention to what's transpiring. Rather, who benefits and who looses. In the end; its money over citizens. The continuous disregard for life.

    3. 2:14 responsible individuals did not have millions of dollars to influence the US congressmen and senators who got lobbied and approved the opioids that caused the addiction that has led to hundreds of thousands of deaths on the US...when you are left orphan and addicted you will soon find where to get your shit anyway, somebody knows where those orphans are, pharmacies have lists they do not supply anymore.

  9. Total waste of money, time, resources that will only "amiolorate" the complex problems of psychoactive drugs use in Mexico.
AMLO is under tremendous pressures to "do something". So, he convenes experts to design practical "fix-it" plans.
These experts (generally professionals in various fields such as sociology, psychology, psychiatry, medicine, education, drug abuse treatment, economics, law enforcement, politics, all convene and "cook up" policy recommendations for the Nation.

In the above Think-Tank processes the most powerful factions rise to dominate in their recommendations of what to implement, where, how, and to whom and by whom....etc. Guess what? The most powerful factions can be wrong! The USA is a prime example whereof I speak. The USA ( with its vast economic, educational, and scientific, and treatment resources) has NOT solved it's drug abuse problems!
IMO: Conventional approaches to solving the complex interrated network ofvdrug addiction problems is that "politicians" get involved in taking complex problematic human behavior issues and cooking up simplistic menues and recipes of action to solve them.
AMLO's intentions are good, but destined to fail miserably...if the USA serves as an example).

In this short response, I cannot go into all the ways I see this failures to deal with drug abus in the USA. I will only mention one that especially irks me. Namely, the drug abuse treatment industry (DTI).

The DTI is a golden goose with an endless supply of people who need fixing....and who get the varied treatments their status warrants...until, these are exhausted and their career as "patients" drops to lower and lower levels...the last early death.
The DTI is all too happy to have drug addicts (I live in a State with many insurance based facilities... many are nice, very nice.) Many do good work ...But, do not make a dent in the more global problem outside it's varied "treatment" walls. After thousands of dollars spent on treatment, teen patient, Nancy, from an affluent family is selling her ass in San Francisco so that she can "get well" for a few hours. Oh, and weeks later she is toe tagged in the morgue.... nobody gives a shit.
The treatment programs that drained monies from Nancy's family and taxpayers is safely in the coffers of the DTI. We inform the last treatment program of her passing and her last therapist vaguely remembers her. "Oh, I,am so sorry. She was so pretty and talented in art and music. She had a beutiful voice. In groups she shined. We discharged her with high hopes... but, you know, with addicting drugs everywhere "out there" relapse is always possible."
Readers: please excuse my keyboard ramblings and errors.
Final point: I sincerely pray that AMLO's good intentions for Mexico succeed. But what I forsee in how Mexico has historically treated it's glue/solvent sniffing street kids, I remain highly skeptical.

    2. 2:50 programs did not work on the US in spite of trillions of dollars.
but the poor broke assed taliban eradicated drugs from their turf until the US came to protect their puppets muhaideen's business.
In Mexico there are freedoms, product, and luckily not all that money for drugs.
Controlling drug trafficking makes US and other world banksters sad for lack of money to invest.

    2. 8:44 there is a reason Colombians are all over Mexico, and they were there to supply the US even before Amado Carrillo Fuentes arrived in Ojinaga for finishing school with Pablo Acosta and his puppet masters from the mexican DFS, like Rafael Aguilar Guajardo, Don Castor "el gordo" Ochoa knew Cd Juarez very well, colombians also knew Sinaloa and el Negro Durazo had been killing and decapitating them for a while, US favorite Nazi had been training torturing death squads since he arrived to south America after WWII, and also dealing cocaine with pablo escobar and Carlos lehder, others chose to move through Mexico and leave the Gulf to Klaus Barbie's organization until his extradition.
EPN DID IT ALL BY THE COLOMBIAN BOOK.
