Oaxaca: Journalist Jesús Hiram Moreno is shot in Salina Cruz

Journalist Jesus Hiram Moreno is recovering from injuries caused by gunshots that an unknown person fired outside a convenience store in the municipality of Salina Cruz, Oaxaca.

The founder and editor of the weekly "Evidencias" commented to the press that the man who attacked him shot him several times, causing a wound on his right arm and a wound on his back. After the attack, he said, his attacker fled on a motorcycle.



When the attack on the journalist was confirmed, the governor of Oaxaca, Alejandro Murat Hinojosa, offered institutional support to him and his family.

The Attorney General of the State requested "the deployment of the technical and human capacity to investigate the facts and find the responsible party, so that they can be detained and initiate the corresponding process before the courts."

While the Secretariat of Public Safety instructed him to participate in the surveillance tasks in the Isthmus region on a permanent basis, as well as continue with the deterrent operations that have been established in the area.
