Decorated US Special Forces veteran confesses to attempting to smuggle 40kg of cocaine from Colombia

Stevectpa Borderland Beat forum from Daily Mail

Master Sergeant Daniel J. Gould pleaded guilty to conspiracy to traffic cocaine in December after authorities found he tried to smuggle nearly 90 pounds of the drug from Colombia to US

A decorated military veteran has confessed to attempting to smuggle more than a million dollars worth of cocaine in the U.S.

Master Sergeant Daniel J. Gould was caught trying to bring in 88 pounds (40 kilograms) of cocaine from Colombia into via a military transport flight bound for Eglin Air Force Base in Florida.

But Gould's plan was busted following a tip to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), according to ABC7.

According to federal documents, the DEA in Bogota, Colombia's capital, found the shocking amount of cocaine stuffed inside punching bags.

A Special Forces soldier was suspicious of the the bags and intercepted them. Then Colombian officials X-rayed them and found its contents.

Court documents said that federal authorities seized the nearly 90 pounds of cocaine, which was purchased in Colombia.

He and two other corroborators were indicted for the trafficking plan.

Gould pleaded guilty on two counts of conspiracy to traffic cocaine in December.  Gould is from South Jordan, Utah, and was a part of the Army 7th Special Forces Group.

He was awarded the Silver Star, the third highest military honor, for his valor in the War on Terror during his deployment in Afghanistan in 2008.

A sentencing date as been set for March after he allegedly confessed to the smuggling of narcotics.

He faces sentences of 10 years to life in prison on each charge for the crime.

The first count of the indictment alleges that from January 1, 2018, to August 13, 2018, Gould 'did knowingly and willfully combine, conspire, confederate and agree with other persons to distribute a controlled substance... containing a detectable amount of cocaine, intending, knowing and having reasonable cause to believe that such a substance would be unlawfully imported into the United States', according to The Ledger.

The second count is the same and adds he wanted to 'distribute and possess with intent to distribute' the cocaine.

Gould's army group did have some locations in Colombia, but he had been on vacation and not military duty at the time of the cocaine bust. He was in the U.S. when his bags were intercepted.

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency led the investigation into the alleged cocaine smuggling, with help from Florida and Colombian authorities.

    2. I’m not an expert at shit. Nor am I a professional. Or a scientist (ok so that part was just me goofing off). But I am a jack of all trades. And as far as I know mariposa is code for jotos. Now if the times have changed and mafias are being called mariposas then I’ll be damned. I would never in a million years ever ever ever resort to calling myself or any business I do as a mariposa 🦋. That is just plain ass RETARDED. Nothing wrong with you being gay. That’s just not me. Now I do like me some lesbians. So if that makes me gay then oh freaking well. - Sol Prendido

    3. You know now that I think about it I did read that book by Boxer Enriquez. And that part where mariposas is mentioned made me laugh. Because these clown ass Mexican Americans gangsters have no clue what they were saying there. Yes in America you can call yourself a mariposa for code. But not in Mexico buddy. Try saying that nonsense out there and literally you’re liable to get fucked. But if any of you have any doubt on my words try saying you a mariposa in Mexico. Please try it. And come back to let us all know how that worked out for you. - Sol Prendido

    4. Chivis it's true Mariposa is code or slang for mafia
its like a metaphor/figure of speech or whatever. Real quick think of it like this the criminals start out at the bottom as associates or soldiers they are the worms or like a worm. The figure head or boss is the butterfly in (seclusion) calling the shots in private or away from other people. After time a worm goes into a cocoon and becomes the butterfly, a soldier needs to master his skills before he can move up in rank and run things from solitary. It (the Mariposa) is used to represent hierarchy similarly to a pyramid.

    5. 7:35; no I think he’s a deep undercover AB who was briefed on his mission at age 17 to infiltrate Army Special Ops in order to provide safe passage for Columbian cocaine by getting access to US military logistics and air assets! Seriously while in USAF in late 1990s we were always flying to Panama, Bogota, Lima and other places and we were bringing in boxes of Cuban cigars b/c US Customs wherever we reentered never checked the C130, C141s or whatever we were flying on. I could lite one Cohiba at bars in Charleston and before the cigar was done I’d sell a full box at 7 times my price. Guarantee there is major weight that’s always been coming in on US military assets b/c it’s just too easy.

Not only that, but when these gov shutdowns happen, the flood gates are wide open- its not like 90% of these busts arent random anyway- the gov knows about which boat theyre gonna hit, sometimes weeks before the boat even leaves port- a perfect example of this was that bust like a year ago, where the uscg stopped a ship, and there was like 5000 kilos right out in the open on the deck- no attempt at hiding it etc-
Its all a show- big busts bring them big $$$$

    6. 6:48; it’s refreshing to see someone acknowledge the reality you just described. Everyone wants to bash Mexico but the reality is the 5 kilos of coke a couple rolls over the bridge with is ultimately broken apart, taken in different directions and sold by hundreds in the US. And the 1,000 lb stash one trucker gets across is going to be touched by thousands of little peddlers in the US.

My point; however many people are in the trade in Mexico can probably be multiplied by 1,000 to get realistic estimate of US based peddlers because once it passes the last customs point in US it’s broken down and cut every time it hits a new stop going north.

I was locked up with some old timers who were in 'Nam and said alot of guys were strung out smoking China White, and throughout the course of their tour, they would sent packages home with heroin hidden inside so they could have a good supply if they made it home...

Where do you think Tesla cars get their lithium for the batteries? In mines in Afghanistan. The army will leave when those mines are depleted. AWARDED FOR ACTIONS
    DURING Global War on Terror
    Service: Army
    Battalion: 3d Battalion
    GENERAL ORDERS:
    CITATION:
The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918 (amended by an act of July 25, 1963), takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Staff Sergeant Daniel J. Gould, United States Army, for exceptionally valorous actions as the Detachment Engineer Sergeant for Special Forces Operational Detachment Alpha 7134 in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM on 20 August 2008. While under intense enemy fire from a coordinated enemy ambush, Sergeant Gould provided lethal effective fires with his m4 carbine, effectively killing more the ten enemy combatants so that a critically injured detachment member could be medically treated and evacuated. His actions are in keeping with the finest traditions of military heroism and reflects distinct credit upon himself, the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force-Afghanistan, and the United States Army. NARRATIVE TO ACCOMPANY AWARD: Staff Sergeant Daniel J. Gould, United States Army, heroically distinguished himself by displaying valorous conduct in the face of the enemy of the United States while serving as the Special Forces Engineer Sergeant for Operational Detachment Alpha 7134, Special Operations Task Force-71, Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan, in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM on 20 August 2008. While conducting a Combat Reconnaissance Patrol to the village of Faramuz, Khas Oruzgan District, Afghanistan to confirm or deny reports of Anti-Afghan Forces activity, the patrol received information that an enemy ambush was set ahead of them towards the Northern river crossing. A dismounted element of Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) led by Sergeant Gould started clearing the area towards the crossing when he identified an ambush line of approximately 20 enemy fighters. Sergeant Gould immediately began engaging the enemy with his M4 at ranges as close as 10 meters, while reporting the battlefield situation to the Ground Force Commander. Subsequently he started receiving a high volume of effective small arms, machine gun, and indirect fire from the well coordinated enemy ambush line. Sergeant Gould's rapid response to the enemy threat provided the suppressing fires needed to fix the enemy from maneuvering towards the remainder of the clearing element. In the midst of overwhelming fires, Sergeant Gould directed the maneuver of the ten ANSF dismount Soldiers in order to suppress the enemy near ambush position. Throughout thirty minutes of intense and ferocious direct fire exchange with the enemy, Sergeant Gould was hit twice by small arms fire: one to his helmet, the impact ripping it clean off his head, and the other to the side plate of his body armor. During this time another detachment member, who had maneuvered forward to the fire-line, was shot and critically wounded. Sergeant Gould utilized this teammate's Squad Automatic Weapon to place an increased concentration of fire on to neutralize the enemy. His action created a lull in fire giving the Medical Detachment Sergeant the ability maneuver to stabilize the casualty. Knowing the casualty needed to be evacuated immediately, and ignoring his own personal safety, Sergeant Gould first assisted the medic by dragging the wounded Soldier for approximately 40 meters in open hostile terrain while still suppressing the enemy. Then he lifted his teammate on his shoulders and carried him the final 35 meters to the safety of the patrol's mounted support by fire position. Throughout the engagement, Sergeant Gould's aggressive warrior instincts led him to positively identify and kill multiple enemy fighters and neutralize one well concealed enemy fighting position. His actions are in keeping with the finest traditions of military heroism and reflect distinct credit upon himself, the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force-Afghanistan, Special Operations Command Central, and the United States Army.

    4. Most people would be afraid to volunteer go to boot camp let alone step up to do what this man did. 9:49 when he was in battle at least he did not run in the opposite direction looking for safety or place to hide. He might be greedy to some and he might be dirty to others but this guy has balls. He has already lived more than one lifetime. If what he is being accused of happens to be true and he even ends up serving time, he is still a warrior and forever will be. Although it's a shame it would all come to something like this in the end.

Some think at that time it will be a good idea to dust off the good book and start prayin.
