Border Patrol agent shot at from Mexico side of the border, suspect in custody

Chivis Martinez Borderland Beat Thank you BB follower from San DiegoNBC

A Border Patrol agent was shot at early Sunday morning while sitting in his marked patrol vehicle near the San Ysidro Port of Entry, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said.

The shooting happened shortly after 2:15 a.m. about 1 1/2 miles west from the San Ysidro border crossing and immediately north of the U.S.-Mexico international boundary, the agency said.

The agent, who was not hurt, immediately drove to a safer location. An initial inspection found several bullet holes on the driver's side of the vehicle, the CBP said.

The shooting appeared to have originated from Mexico side of the border and authorities there were immediately contacted, the agency said.

Mexican authorities initially took two suspects into custody and one of them was found with a handgun, the CBP said. The other person was released.

The FBI was contacted and is investigating the matter.

  3. It becomes an eye for an eye thing... until you've got a bunch of blind people shooting at each other
People blind with rage, ignorance, or whatever.
People talk, surely aware of the BP killings over the years. Eventually, someones gonna take a pot shot. With the recent mob killings over false witness in Mexico, imagine the rumors swirling in some kooks mind.

  5. That was a dumb move or maybe they did it for a reason. They wanted to have attention on that area so the big shipment can go through... if not, that was dumb. Every body knows the only people who walk around with guns in Mexico are the drug dealers and sicarios.

  9. Policia

"Round up the usual suspects?" If Mexico would allow extradition of the accused of cross border felonies, the USA could use a polygraph and possibly avoid finger-pointing prosecution of a person innocent of that particular allegation. The policia are infamous of getting rid of scumbags by falsely charging them. At issue is the non prosecution of the responsible party.

    1. The polygraph is known to be manipulated with practice. kmon bra!

    2. People are "known" to win the lottery. False accusations and imprisonment are embarrassingly rife down here. Machiavellian finger-pointing has been elevated to a degree almost unparalleled in the Western Hemisphere. There is such a thing when polygraph testing as "Degrees of Suspicion". If a suspect passes a polygraph with flying colors, then public revelation would be a huge black eye for Mexican authorities and they know it. It's not the EUA versus local PD or PGE, it's EUA versus PGR and that makes it a hell of a lot more significant.
