Tunnel Found in San Luis terminated in a KFC, Brought 'Hard Narcotics' to US

Tunnel on U.S. side terminated in an abandoned KFC

A tunnel was discovered by a policeman on routine traffic stop.

U.S. Border Patrol says a tunnel discovered in the Arizona border town of San Luis was primarily used to bring hard narcotics into the U.S. The tunnel was located following a routine traffic stop by the San Luis Police Department.

Ivan Lopez bought in April for $389,000

Border Patrol officials say that traffic stop led to the seizure of 168 kilograms of hard narcotics, including methamphetamine, cocaine, white and brown heroin, and three million doses of fentanyl.

The drugs were found in toolboxes traced to an empty fast food restaurant where agents discovered an 8 inch hole in the concrete floor. Special Agent in Charge Scott Brown says the hole isn't big enough for people, or bales of marijuana, but plenty of narcotics came through.

“There was a total of 261 packages that came through that hole. Again, over three hundred pounds of narcotics, hard narcotics. Again, small hole, a lot of drugs.”

The tunnel is over 500 feet long. Mexican officials discovered the tunnel’s entrance half a block from the border in San Luis Rio Colorado, Mexico.

Special Agent Brown says the tunnel is "absolutely connected to the Sinaloa drug cartel" operating in the Northern State of Sonora.

The tunnel is only the fifth found in the Yuma Sector since 2007.

Ropes were use to pull the drugs through

  1. No wonder KFC is finger licking good.On a serious note, there is technology now to detect anomalies in the ground with seismic wave detectors and ground penetrating sonar systems. The U.S government should sub contract these along the border to Oil companies. Probably 1,000's of undiscovered tunnels.

    1. Fantastic and have the oil companies make tunnels for the cartels. C'mon everyone lies once in their life

    4. 7:26 . I have often wondered the same thing . This technology isn't new . I was running a large vibrator on a mack truck in the Nevada desert in 1983 . Wouldn't take equipment that size . The technology is out there and I have never understood why they haven't used it .

    5. @10:29PM The cheaper sensors only work so deep, so the cartels just make the tunnel deeper. The issue with the cheaper ones (the one the government is most likely to buy) is the development level of the areas they make these tunnels, if they aren't deep enough the sensors will pick up normal nearby traffic and give a false positive (a la one of El Chapo's escapes from prison). It would require the government to drill new holes, and create the infrastructure to support the sensors, and they would need to be buried a good ways down (which requires more expensive sensors).

Biggest issue for law enforcement has always been that they have to follow the rules; people file lawsuits against new additions in their area, or noise complaints, or anything else they can do if they don't want the government in the area. Or a cartel affiliate owns property in the area and files anything they can to delay or stop the process.

LEOs also have a much smaller budget.

    6. The problem with "government contracts" is that contracting perras offering to solve "the problem" usually have created it and want to subsidize their operations and make more profit with money from the US government as they create more tunnels.
--But blaming "El Chapo" works so good,
      why stop the finger licking?

  3. If he had illegal immigrants buy crap cars and leave them in the KFC lot he could have planted the dope hidden in the shit cars and then have another illegal have the car towed to said location. The dope must not be touched by management. If said tow truck is pulled over and caught the driver has no knowledge. If the car is traced it goes to a illegal from Home Depot. Amateur- I highly recommend at least 3 buffer layers if managing a tunnel.

Btw he just got a 12 yr stint in prison for trying this a second time. I used to rent his house in N Bay Village in Miami at the height of his Cocaine Cowboys fame in 1980. He is the most intelligent person i ever met.

    1. The smaller tunnels like this are actually pretty cheap. They pay for themselves with the first few kilos.

    2. 9:15 i dont think you realize the scope of what billions of dollars gets you in real life when your a global organization... Thats a thousand million, alot to you and me, but not to the top... And you kids are worried about a $100k tunnel.. They cook that in 5 mins. Kb seems to understand :)

Until you average 8-9 million per day in sales @3billion per year it will be hard for the typical rancher to fathom what you can really do in life with unlimited funds..... I understand

I think I just recently read where they were just hit with huge tonnage of meth . This shit may be a high profit item but it still cost . Then there the possibility of dying or worse spending the rest of their lives in a US prison . I will prose you all those tons of meth cost them .

  18. I remember eating there back in 2009 while working at the call center next to KFC. I went back to work at that center back in July last year but the KFC was already closed. I wonder if the tunnel operated while KFC was open or after it closed. There are many more buildings around that area that could easily house an exit for a tunnel. Anyhow, just business as usual on the border.
