Rambo will cross the border to fight a drug cartel

Sylvester Stallone is planning to direct the fifth installment of the American war hero saga, which is already being written

Movie actor Sylvester Stallone will fight a drug cartel in the movie Rambo 5, according to the latest information published in the Deadline entertainment and cinema news portal.

According to the publication, the fifth installment of the saga, which began in 1982 with First Blood, will begin shooting next September.

Stallone himself is working on the script with Avi Lerner, who has paired up with the actor on several occasions in movies such as The Expendables and will produce the new film of the Rambo franchise, an epic saga where Sylvester plays a war hero that, in spite of not abiding by military protocols, always achieves his goals.

It has also been said that the fifth installment of this saga might be directed by Stallone himself, but it is yet to be confirmed.

According to Deadline, in this new episode of the franchise, Rambo will cross the border between the United States and Mexico after learning that the daughter of one of his friends has been kidnapped.

Upon his arrival in Mexico, the veteran of the Vietnam war will find himself fighting one of the most violent drug cartels in the country.

Stallone hasn’t played Rambo since 2008. However, this new project is consistent with his revival of some emblematic characters such as Rocky. On that note, he is currently working on the second installment of Creed.

  1. Stallone is a one-hit-wonder type of actor/writer where he occasionally is part of something great but doesn't really have that artistic understanding naturally in him. Both Rocky and Rambo he nailed the first movies and then after that it just got more watered out. Rambo it only took a single sequel and you had an one man army, Vietnamese characters talking an invented language, Russian caricature characters speaking English and arrows that explode. Yeah it's an iconic role just as Rocky 4 but they are cool movies without any substance. If you take someone like say Al Pacino he could recognize a Scarface or Carlito's Way getting worse and worse with shitty scripted sequels but with Stallone it's like the mentality of a pumped up teenager.

Stallone is the same toughguy in every movie saying corny shit with the same facial expression and beating everyone up/things exploding.

That "analysis" by you was one of the worst, self-contradictory things I've read in a while.

    3. Yeah, his Rocky picture won three Oscars, one for best picture, he's won 4 people's choice awards, and a Golden Globe and his Rambo franchise grossed over 700 million adjusted for inflation, with costs of about 180million. Plus 10s of millions more for DVDs. His Rocky series has made 1.8 BILLION. One actor, responsible for 2.6 billion of revenue in two series alone.

He obviously has no idea what he's doing.

And Pacino? He's a great actor, but he did do Godfather 3, which was horrific.

    4. At least two-hit-wonder, no one. Multiple times Oscar nominated. Cultural icon… what a loser when compared with some of us here.

    6. @1:39 I did put up Rocky as one of his successful works but it is just that: an exception. The "Peoples Choice Award" are for Favorite Male Actor wich is entertainment value and recognisability this is not the same as talent. The 1 out of 4 awards he won Rambo 2 wich is saying all that needs to be said.

Everything worth mentioning he has been nominated for/won from Rocky and Creed, almost everything else he has done is related to worst actor/director/screenplay awards.

    2. Screenwriter Joe Eszterhas says rocky stallone fights like a girl and throws punches like a woman, and demands writing credits for things he didn't write.
But he got money and fame trusting his guts and refused to pay to hide the porn, one rare honesty.
--Good for Rocky Rambo, except for making propaganda films against the vietnamese, the muslims, the police, the russians, tall cute whites, blacks and now the mexicans...

  10. Is the movie set in Tamaulipas? That state has more gun battles with Mexican armed forces vs cartels. In chihuahua? The deep south of the state has a lot of cartel activities. I don't hear gun battles with the armed forces. Just between rivals. Sometimes with the government forces. Or in Tijuana? Its also gun battles between rivals. Sometimes with state police. I know in Guerrero. Thats thr murder state of Mexico with lots of cartel related. Don't forget sinaloa witch is a lot of cartel activities as well. Is it gonna be set at a rural place in those states? I know some parts of mexico has woods. Rambo was trained on Jungle warfare so I guess it'll take place on a rural area.
