Subject Matter: Isaac Manuel Godoy Castro, El Dany, Cartel Arellano Felix
Recommendation: No prior subject matter knowledge required
Reporter: Ines Garcia Ramos
Isaac Manuel Godoy Castro "Dany", who was arrested by federal forces in April 2009 for his participation as leader of a cartel cell Arellano Felix (CAF), was executed this afternoon while exercising in a gym in Tijuana.
According to the first reports, Godoy Castro, who had just left prison, was in the Family Fitness establishment in the Alameda Otay shopping plaza, located on the Lázaro Cárdenas Boulevard and near the US Consulate in Tijuana, when he was shot in the head.
The events occurred around 4:00 in the afternoon of this Thursday. The body of " El Dany" was thrown in the middle of exercise equipment.
According to the report presented to the first respondents, a male of about 1.70 meters tall, thin, light brown, wearing a gray hood and white shorts, entered the gym and shot several rounds at Godoy, at the scene experts located six spent revolver cartridges. After the attack the murderer fled from the Plaza.
"El Dany" made a career within the CAF as one of the main operators of Fernando Sánchez Arellano "El Ingeniero" in Tijuana and was also part of the criminal group led by Gustavo Ramírez Martínez "El P1", lieutenant of the Arellano Félix and who was arrested in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur in 2008.
Godoy Castro appeared a poster published by the United States Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), in January 2009, where he was identified as one of the main CAF leaders.
At the time of his arrest, he was with six other men: Oscar Diaz Ochoa, Jesus Alberto Padron Barrera, Luis Kael Garcia Cano Mercado, Julio César Calderón Rodríguez, Luis Antonio Mena Corona and Francisco Antonio Rodríguez Felipe, who had in their possession a rifle, four pistols and 900 kilograms of marijuana and four vehicles.

Now, I'm not a huge gun person, so I could be wrong about this, BUT how would there be spent shell casings from a REVOLVER? I thought that was one of the huge criminal advantages of revolvers.....the fact that the spent shell casing stay in the guns chamber.....therefore eliminating that as evidence on the scene, unless the killer left the whole gun there.....
ReplyDeleteOk here is a scenario for you, the assassin is armed with a revolver, he fires six shots, would he reload before he left the building in case someone tries to stop him leaving?
DeleteIf he did he would either eject the shell casings into his pocket, not advisable because they will be red hot to the touch, or eject them onto the floor. Which is what I suspect he did.
5:52 You bring up very good point and I doubt a revoner was the weapon not wise to drop casing or to use when the person he was shooting likely had faster shooting weapon
DeleteSorry but they would not be RED HOT to the touch. I have dumped freshly fired .38 caliber shells into my hand and they are not hot. Just saying. Maybe he thought they were hot....
DeleteVery unlikely! Its probably from a semi automátic pistol. Shoot six and you have 4 more to get away.
DeleteYou are at a minimum very observant. I noticed that he used a revolver, which is unusual these days. Six rounds isn't enough when faced with a Glock, etc. But I think the scenario that Otis presented is probably accurate. But good job.
Deletewell either someone saw the weapon, or they were rimmed cartridges they found. That rules out semi autos either way, if the information in the article is accurate.
DeleteThe article doesn't state they were .38 calibre , could have been .357 mag or 44 mag or bigger, either way I've fired enough rounds of all those calibers to know how hot they get.
As regards not reloading before he left, an empty weapon is a useless weapon. If I were in his shoes, I would have reloaded my weapon before I left. But you are entitled to your opinion.
How dare one disagree with otis, every mod here is precious and infallible
DeleteEven with a cartridge pistol there a metal mesh adapters that prevent the casings from falling to the ground.
DeleteThe idea for using a revolver in a hit is to not leave behind any spent casings. At least in theory. It is Mexico so I doubt there would be any forensic testing for fingerprints done on the casings.
Delete9:49 try having spent casings go down your shirt and I bet you would swear they were red hot.
DeleteI had 9mm casing land between my shooting glasses and my eyebrow for a fraction of a second. It blistered my brow pretty good just like someone put a hot iron against it for that fraction of a second.
I agree with Otis a person would just open the cylinder, dump the spent casings and quickly reload.
I deployed with the army during OIF, a spec ops guy maybe cia told me the best reload is another loaded weapon. Some guys train different and find their own style of working.
DeleteCould be an proof reading mistake and it should have said escuadra the instead of revolver. In Mexico sometimes the word revolver just means gun. It could also be that the corrupt Zeta reporter made it up.
Delete1:10 that's the idea when you have a choice between the 2 auto/revolver...
DeleteBut if all you have is a 22,32,38,357 revolver and you have a "job" to do..what do you do
I'm not a killer but don't push me
Otis you lost me at 'the casings too hot handle' sorry that is total nonsense.
DeleteI thought you lived in England where handguns are prohibited ?
whatever , this was probably misinformation from zeta a newspaper that often guesses.
for a hit no one takes a revolver , if they do they will also have a second weapon . and casings left behind are a non-issue . in mexico the scene is usually scattered with them all over the place
I tried looking for another news article on this , guess it is a non story outside Tijuana, no one is running it.
At 10:31
DeleteYou nailed it, hes not gonna fire all at once he woud have saved 3 or 4 for anyone that got in the way on the way out .And its Mexico who cares about the forensics when the people who are in law enforcement are the ones doing the killing . F it
A revolver is the weapon of choice of a true hitman....won't jam.
Deletewho cares what he utilized, the hood rat was killed for some reason.
Delete1:53 haiga sido como haiga sido,
DeleteOra si le quitaron lo caliente al Danny Boy...
Aquiles afirmo
ReplyDeleteIm guessing either Aquiles crew is broke and cant modernize their weapons, or it was an old timer sicario that trust a wheel gun better than a semi auto
DeleteMientras el trabajo este echo aún que lo Agas con un filero misión cumplida ese sicario se ganó la bonificación por cada cabeza de poder caída.
Delete"at the scene experts located six spent revolver cartridges."
ReplyDeleteRevolvers do not eject their cartridges.
See my reply to 5:42 above
DeleteI agree with Otis, he sees alot of mayhem and you give him a hard time.
Delete8:53..That is NOT a good reason to agree with otis..I agree with the reloading part but not the hot shells as I stated.
DeleteI agree with Otis because it makes the MOST sense if it was INDEED a revolver used in the murder
NOT because Otis has seen lots of mayhem
Seeing too much mayhem actually can make you nuts.
at 8:53 what are you talking about he doesn't live in mexico. he lives in Europe!!!
Deleteyou are hilarious. some of the reporters do live in mexico and have truly seen much mayhem and violence, dude should have corrected you.
making something accurate is not giving someone a hard time.
9:35
DeleteEngland is still part of Europe. You have confused a political stance (EU) with the historical geographical location (Europe).
England is an island close to Europe,
Deletethat dreams of being a world wide continent,
with great culture,
bad technology,
and the worst cooking in the whole world
Gente del Aquiles a La Orden
ReplyDeleteServed prison, they gets shot when he is free. What a life.
ReplyDeleteHe knew the risks. Especially after the Inge Tio wars.
DeleteHope la rana and aquiles get caught soon they been killing rivials de ctng and caf with inpunity con apoyo de la policia this is not right I live in Tijuana is a mess they also have the press bought over so unless they give the order no killing will be shown on the news unless they want to
ReplyDeleteHave they got it on lock to that extent ? Aquilles or cjng who knows but someone didnt waste time burying him
DeleteY seguiremos matando ratas secuestradores y gente efectiva no como esos corrientes disque caf y jaliscos matando niños inocentes y adictos ahí niveles
DeleteSo if they kill innocent people it ok but not when they kill there rivals with the help of police really??
Delete4.03
DeleteWho decides who is worthy of death, some need killing no problem with that, but you doing the same thing?
7:47 he says seguiremos, he is guilty.
DeleteTime to track the maphuka's blackberry.
I remember when he got picked up in April 2009, it was the beginning of the fall of CAF, both sides of Teo and Inge were giving info to authorities about locations of safehouses and cell leaders
ReplyDeleteInge's people took major hits, because they had many more people and assets, at the time.
Not surprised he was out, it is kind of brazen these guys just head right back to TJ. I wonder who gave the order. Seems TJ is no longer safe for any Arellano formers who aren't working with CTNG. There is no a pretty significant list of murdered CAF people in the last 3 years or so.
Could have been La Rana J as someone else speculated, but then again could have been anyone with a grudge to bear or Police who had men killed by him before he was imprisoned.
DeleteI’m thinking more like los Uriarte gave the hit
DeleteFunny instead of getting stronger he got dead.
ReplyDeleteThey say "if it doesn't kill you,it makes you stronger"..It killed him!
DeleteWent to pump iron, ended up being pumped with lead
ReplyDeleteReally you expect somebody who just unleashed 6 rounds from a pistol and killed a person in a public location to stop and reload his gun "incase" somebody is outside and waiting to finish off the assassin? If I was going to do the killing I would have 2 guns with me so that I could use the 2nd gun for my protection after I emptied the other gun rounds into the victim. I know a lot of these assassins are not too bright but I really don't think that they have the ability to plan ahead and reload their gun as they are trying to flee. Just my thoughts, I don't know.
ReplyDeleteCould’ve, Should’ve, Would’ve. The bottom line is the job got done. People in the know are taught to reload their primary weapon whenever there is a lull in the action. It doesn’t automatically mean he didn’t have a secondary pistol on him.
DeleteNo but i bet 99% of people would never stop and reload after shooting some1 in a public place.
Deleteagree 100 at 10:48. no one brings one gun to a hit.
DeleteVery grim and ironic death, my guess is someone with an old grudge, the way they hit him at the gym could be coincidence, since he was a gym fanatic (that is where he was arrested in 2009) but throwing him on the exercise equipment, or did they just leave him where they git him.....just speculation or could be how they worded it....
ReplyDeleteWhy Rana? There could for sure be problems between those two crews, from way back, but it would be something that never made the news. As El Dany was probably much bigger than Los Aquiles in 2008/2009.
What I cannot comprehend is how carelessthese guys are. In that life there is no retirement passes. When you pumping iron at the gym especially with earphones on, your situational awareness is 0 to none when reppin out. You are in a very vulnerable state. He probally thought the shooter was another gym patron and paid him no mind. He was locked almost a decade no way he came back out and got reactive with the old connections that he had when Ingeniero was his boss. Maybe he was trying to get back on his feet and got dealt with quick by the new CAF management or like mentioned here an old grudge by law enforcement. If he got put on again by his associates , where is atleast one or two bodyguards? Maybe Agent Duncan can weigh in with some insight?
ReplyDeleteIt probably wasnt a revolver, thats my best guess. The media always gets things wrong.
ReplyDeletegood kill. why should he be allowed to live after all he has butchered. kudos to the assassin!!
ReplyDeleteRANA going rouge
ReplyDeleteRana going rogue with the rouge,
Deletenothing like a very red bright lipstick,
even on a pinche rana.
Just got back from tj.. nothinh but corridos of caf
ReplyDeleteWhere did u hangout
Delete10:04...
Delete@2:33 hung out en la pinchi carcel, donde más
ivan vs el guano in sinaloa what could be the reason of the split??
ReplyDeletemedia people are not usually experienced gun people. Especially in Mexico where guns are not owned by common people.
ReplyDeleteI find it funny that he was in a gym lifting weights with an elevated blood pressure and that headshot did not pump pump pump all over the gym floor. Some sicarios let their toys run for life before they get capped just to watch the fountain.
ReplyDelete<3 Muah

DeleteNames and addresses provided.
Tijuana must be pretty jaded these days with all the killings there. Check out the gym member cycling in the photo just meters away from the dead body, lol.
ReplyDeleteMakes no sense for a guy who rose to that level of power to ever be in public without security in Mexico. Even if he lost his position and just got out of jail, I'm sure he had a list of very wealthy enemies that were just waiting for a chance to get revenge.
ReplyDeleteI guess he was one of those 'this is my city' type of guys.
Tan bien pendejos los del caf. Sin escolta sin blindadas en publico en un gymnasio. Murio por pendejo.
