Subject Matter: Oscar Santiago N, El Culichi, CDS, Coahuila

During the early hours of Sunday the 30th of July, there was a gun battle registered between an armed commando and elements of the Coahuila Force, in the Eduardo Guerra colonia in Torreon.
The Police managed to take down with gunfire an alleged leader of the Sinaloa cartel, identified as Oscar Santiago N, alias El Culichi, 30 years of age approximately.
The events occurred around 2 am in the morning, when the emergency system received reports that Coahuila Force were attacked by gunfire, and that the subject were aboard two vehicles on the crossroads of Lazaro Cardenas.
Unofficial information said that the Police were circulating in the Eduardo Guerra colonia, when their received gunfire by armed subjects. The vehicle that the alleged delinquents were travelling in was black Navigator with Coahuila plates, the agents signalled the driver to stop when he pulled out a weapon and opened fire.
The Police responded to the aggression and managed to take down the aggressor at the point of contact. The subjects body was lying face up in the street with his vehicle remaining in place.
At the place of incident, experts arrived and carried out the corresponding legal proceedings, and stated that the deceased received three shots to his chest, and secured a 9mm weapon, inside the vehicle they found a spare magazine for said firearm, 30 grams of drugs and a bullet proof vest.
Oscar Santiago, El Culichi, allegedly engaged in the sale and distribution of drugs in sectors of Torreon and Gomez Palacio, Durango.
The Attorney General of the State's Office, were responsible for collecting the evidence, securing the body and ordering the transfer of the body to SEMEFO facilities.
In addition, after the corresponding proceedings, the deceased was found to have a drivers license for the State of Sinaloa.
So far the investigations being carried out in the case have not confirmed if the man killed was indeed a leader of the Sinaloa cartel.

Unless you have a ceramic plate in your jacket, cat 3 kevlar is not going to stop green tip 5.56 rounds. Lots of these sicarios have bullet proof jackets, but I expect they dont carry the armor plates front and back of the jackets

DeleteI think Otis is accurate. Even a standard 5.56mm 55gr round can pierce kevlar within effective range. Kevlar will absorb energy before penetrating, but downside of that is less energy is more likely to deflect inside body and damage organs. Even with breast plate a hit from a 5.56mm round will give you a burro kick to remember.
DeleteI always thought it strange that when Zetas had Torreon controlled that CDS was there in Gomez Palacio. My friend with restaurant in Torreon says all has been tranquil again after many hard years with extortion.
4:30 Ottis, first of all if you have it on chances are it will stop or at least minimize but if you dont have it on than it definitly will not stop. Btw. How do you know what ammo they were using? Not all are using armour pearcing, chances are they are using regular ball point ammo.

Delete@8:37 green tip was standard a while back for US army, I suspect most ammo the Mexican police is issued with is ex USA military stock. This would probably be the cheapest they can buy, though Fabrica Nacional de Municiones, the Mexican manufacturer of ammunition may also make this round under licence.
DeleteThe M855 with its steel tip was out of favour with the USA army after they realised that up against people with no body armor, it didn't deform much on impact and drilled a hole clean through, without imparting much energy into the target.
Hence my guess that those forces going up against sicarios who often wear Kevlar, may well be using this round.
Kevlar against rifle rounds is pointless. Only level III and level IV ceramic or steel plates will stop a rifle round. You can find level IV steel plates on the internet for $250 front and back panels. These fools might need to invest in some instead of carrying gold plates 1911's to show how much power they have. Rest in Piss CDS scum belly.

DeleteAll of your theories are just that-theories. You do not know what ammo was used, you don't even know what forces were there( were they regulars, specials etc.) it is all asumptions. Untill we know those details we are in the dark. Also, vests are not only against direct hit from high power rifles but against smaller caliber weapons, against ricochets etc. Another thing left out is what the bullet had to go through(glass, doors etc.) angle of impact makes huge difference, distance ...there is just too many variables to say vests don't work.
If one is going to have equipment, one may as well use it, otherwise it is unnecessary weight.
One thing is certain, the narco bussiness is a bussiness with many traps and pitfalls, danger may come from different sources not just millitary/police but also other narcos and not everyone is packing high power weapons and that is why vests are good to be worn.

I believe the green tips were invented during the cold war so they can pop holes into the Russian helmets. That was its main purpose. With that said they are not armor piercing bullets. Now they are strictly used by professional target shooters.

I don't care what anyone says - regular pot use over many years makes people dumb, uninteresting to talk to, and permanently effects their lazy outlook. I did the opposite of my parents and by 23 I had 17 rentals homes and now I have over 1,200 doors multi family at 32. Weed may not kill but it limits potential and motivation and I thank god i had great parental guidance on what the hell not to do.

ReplyDeleteI have explained many times when people are surprised about any cartels presence in any State. Cartels that own a border crossing, allow drug loads from anyone at all to cross through their territory. As long as piso for the load is paid. CDS crosses loads at every crossing on the frontier.
DeleteWhen an mover wants a load through a particular crossing, he pays piso per kilo for the load to be moved. The cartel that owns the crossing, picks up the load at a pre-arranged point from the load originator ( could be any cartel) and escorts that load to the border. The escorts have no idea who the load belongs to or where its going or originates from. As long as the piso is paid, the load gets delivered.
Any cartel will put shipments across all the crossing points, so if one load gets caught by a particular method, they might get a load through on the same method at a different crossing.
Because of this there will be a team from each cartel on the border territory of each crossing state.
Yes. Zetas have been run out of Torreon for awhile now which would explain why it's been relatively quiet. I mean, compared to other places you know? Keep those butchers in Matamoros coah.

DeleteTorreon Coahuila is a major city in that state and is on the border with Durango (a CDS stronghold) so CDS fought hard a few years ago to take this city. Zetas still operate there still.

ReplyDeleteEl Cullichi had a nine mm on him, that's the 9mm in the article, its on the road next to his body. In the photo of the Coahuila Fuerza elements, they are all armed with AR15 variants. Its not a huge leap of the imagination to think that's what he was engaged with.
