Social Media Reports On Shootouts in Nochistlán, Zacatecas

Translated by Valor for Borderland Beat

Dozens of citizens and neighbors of the municipality of Nochistlán de Mejía, located at 224 kilometers south of the capital of Zacatecas reported on a violent shootout through various social networks that lasted for several hours during the early hours of Wednesday without the authorities having so far issued an official communication in regards to the incident.

Various videos and messages of the citizenship recorded the events where strong machinegun bursts can be heard throughout various parts of the area where the presence of armed groups in the area has been denounced.

The “magical town” of Nochistlán has been a disputed area of alleged members of organized crime who are fighting for the drug trafficking corridor bordering both the north and northwest with the municipality of Jalapa, south with Yahualica in Jalisco, to the east with Apulco, to the west of the municipalities of Juchipila and Apozol, to the north and northeast with Teocaltiche in Jalisco and finally to the south bordering with the municipality of Mezticacán, also located in Jalisco.

Neighbors of the area alerted on the presence of trucks with armed men on board moving throughout highways and roads as well as in the urban area of Nochistlán.

“Video 2: Shootout some moments ago in Nochistlán, the following video shows the northern outskirts of the municipality as the two convoys of armed subjects attacked each other.”

Additional Videos:

“Video 3: Strong shootout in Nochistlán.  This video was recorded by other villagers who recorded the impressive shootout, allegedly between the CDG and the CDN, from their homes.  Hundreds of armed people were involved as well as armored vehicles of all types, mostly trucks.”

“Video 4: This is how more convoys of hitmen and narcos entered Nochistlán to continue the strong shootout that they carried out, groups of convoys were between groups of 9 to 20 trucks in different groups and between 10 and 15 vehicles among other convoys that laid siege to Nochistlán in order to carry out a strong battle presumably between the CDN and CDG.”

“Video 5: The Nochistlán shootout lasted for 30 minutes and authorities never arrived.  After almost an hour, they began to arrive to the municipality, in some streets citizens reported people in trucks killed by gunshots, some exposing themselves thinking that it was finished, going outside to take photos and videos of those executed but they immediately took shelter.  CDG and CDN sicarios (although in the area, the CJNG and the Sinaloa [Cartel] may have also been involved as they also operate in the region) fought each other and used: grenades, AK-47’s, AR-15’s,M-17’s, Barrett .50 caliber, sub machine guns, machine guns, as well as hand guns.  It was a real armed confrontation that had never occurred in that municipality.”

“Video 6: Nochistlán lived its worst shootout in history and in previous confrontations had never overcome this bloody shootout and confrontation on April 18, 2017.  It is said that the worst place was opposite the ISSSTE (Institute for Social Security and Services for State Workers) near the secondary school, there are several sicarios in various convoys that faced each other leaving several executed and trucks shot up.  Some sicarios picked up their own casualties to take them, in front of the ISSSTE, at least six houses were left shot up as well as at least eight vehicles, inside the houses, some had water pipe damage which led to houses being flooded.  After about 80 minutes, authorities arrived.  Sicarios continued the shootout on roads outside the municipality.”

  2. Crazy!
Zacatecas's was one of my favorite places to visit. Back then of course before the drug war began.
Who controls that area for drug trafficking?
Was always peaceful. Then again reflecting the past which is no more I see. Many parts of Mexico have transformed into such activities.
Pretty sure news of what or who will be credited.
One can only ask for peace in such times.
    Thanks for informing us BB.

    2. It really was my family is from the north part of zacatecas and back in 2007 is when golfos and zetas entered to take over the state, before 2007 it was local drug dealers from zacatecas that would run business and didnt mess with civilians at all. But sadly most were killed or forced to align with the scummy tamaulipas people and thats when it all went down hill, they introduced kidnappings and robbery to civilians,
zacatecas is still somewhat safe you just have to travel during the day and be a bit careful

  13. This area and los altos de jalisco was controlled by don mario gonzalez from teocaltiche. Shit hit the fan when he died and his son took over, mario jr. Chapo and him where compadres and therefore this is still sinaloa territory. The shoot out last night was between sinaloa and nueva generacion that tried to come in through yahualica. They have lost alot of ground since don marios kids moved to Guadalajara and cjng has been actively trying to take over. "El huero de los altos"

    5. Im saying the kids moved to guanatos and left each town with a boss. Sinaloa still runs alot of business through guadalajara theres no fucking way cjng can control the whole city. Sinaloa lost alot of territory in los altos but this region is still theirs. This shootout was cjng trying to take out "el cacahuate" they went in but he held out at his house. He called for back up and people from nochis and teocal went on the offensive. For some reason the people of teocal where there. Either they knew they were coming or by accident. They went at it and killed ten from yahualica aka cjng and only "el pony" from nochis got injured with a gunshot to his leg. Cjng hasnt been able to take them out yet so its about to get hotter. 15. Alejandro "Booger Bear" Nunez is behind all of this latest violence from Jalisco. El Mayo has a golpe de contacto out on him. Pedro Negro, or "Black Peter", is heading up a equipo de sicarios to catch him. My cousin who lives in Alcoyonqui has been emailing me every night about Nunez. Ezequias says he and his familia rezar a Dios every day that Nunez doesn't storm their home. He likes to catch people off guard and prefers to scare & kill innocent people & niños because he is too scared to fight El Mayo's troops on his own. My cousin knows a lot because the choza behind his fence is his old amigo that now runs with CDS. I don't know his name, but Ezequias says his amigo looks out for him & his hermana.

  23. Mario Jr was not able to continue the business as his father did up until his death so, he was picked up awhile back and taken downtown so that, someone with strong agallas could run the business and paying off the politicos in charge of the state and security.

Now you see CdS and NG going at it. If they take this stronghold then, Teocal, Villa, Aguascalientes, Tlachichila, Calvillo, Jalpa, Tabasco. You know the drill.

  24. There has too be a lot of casuAlties, so huero here said it was only 10 dead from cjng trying to take los altos from cds but I don't believe him. Too much gun shots and heavy artillery to just have 10 from cjng. I bet cjng killed way more than that, they went ready for war. But officially nothing will be said from authorities, it's the two most powerful cartels going at it, I'm sure they don't want any problems with either.
