Son of El Azul arrested

Posted on Borderland Beat by Siskiyou_kid

A son of Sinaloa drug capo "El Azul", Juan Jose Esparragoza Monzon, was reportedly arrested in Culiacan on Wednesday night. He was arrested with several other individuals in downtown Culiacan, while he was dining at a restaurant called Paseo del Angel. The detention by Federal Police specialized in narcotics was completed without firing a shot.

Esparragoza Monzon is the son of Juan Jose "El Azul" Esparragoza Moreno and Gloria Monzon Araujo, who has been sanctioned by the US Treasury Department for using a network of gas stations in Culiacan to launder proceeds that are allegedly obtained through criminal enterprise.

The 44 year-old son is reportedly married to Gloria Beltran Leyva, the sister of the leaders of the notorious Beltran Leyva Organization, who carried out a protracted battle with other Sinaloa capos, particularly Joaquim "El Chapo" Guzman Loera, following the arrest of brother Alfredo "El Mochomo" Beltran Leyva in 2008.

    1. In Sinaloa everyone knows where all the capos and leaders and such from CDS hang out. That is why the DEA and CIA are full of shit when they say they spend countless hours of intelligence and reports and money to find bozos like these when narcos hide in plain sight in that state. Zambada, Chapos kids and anyone else in between travel freely there because the whole statenis cotrupted and under their payroll.

    2. Where do the capos hang out in culiacan

      Delete
    3. They hang out everywhere! The nicest restaurants, beaches and even attend church in some instances. This place where this guy was caught is not exclusive his hangout.

    4. The reason Capos aren't arrested in Culiacan by the CIA and DEA often is because they usually have to build cases against them first and that takes years sometimes. It is not that they don't know where the Capos hang out. Also if they where to capture them as soon as spotted this would be illegal in Mexico for arrest warrants from the U.S. have to be cleared be the Mexican government way before any action is taken and this also takes time. It is naive to think that these Narcos are hiding in caves however like everybody believed Bin Laden was doing!

    6. That's the main reason why these guys continue doing what they do. Because the Mexican government will often not approve of the arrest. Moreover relaying the information of possible arrest to the criminals of DEA intelligence and interests. If Mexico is serous about eradicating drug lords and their associates maybe they should investigate their line of employment to confirm the assets on hand in correspondence to legitimate employment practices. Maybe this will deter many: if the money can't be accounted for seize it.
It's a start and an example for all who think it's fabulous. Take it away simply put.

    1. Nice idea, but your post doesn't even qualify as a theory until you provide at least some evidence for your claims. Provide one piece of conclusive evidence for any one of your claims, and people might take them seriously. Otherwise you're just talking out of your ass. "Chapo didn't get extradited, it was a body double all along!" See, anyone can make shit up.

    6. 3:21 you may be tired, but for more than 70 years, the reality of the CIA and other government agencies having a lot of dirty linen and soiled underwear has been denounced in books, reports, radio and televishun, now available to all in the world, among the authors are many former agents, senators, drug traffickers associated to them, and one presidential pardon to all of those involved in iran/contra without even fully investigating...
So, my dear cabeza de avestrus up the ass, keep living in the clouds of POOP!!! (I meant ostrich head, sorry about the spanglis)

  9. Crazy but the gov has been after cds alot lately.. cds not the favorite cartel for government anymore and one more thing.. cds will NEVER recover the power or plazas they have lost. R.I.P rest in piss cds...

    1. Greed or Avaricia got all of them.

Things could've been better for all and especially Mexican citizens if they kept their plazas as they agreed to.

Whoever thought of the idea of causing the infighting among the cartels did not think of repercussions to the innocent or the country

      Delete
    2. 3:05, CDS is stronger than ever, has not lost any important plazas, and has hundreds of bosses successfully smuggling thousands of kilos daily into the US. Just as important to smuggling is their money laundering infrastructure that makes CDS them most powerful cartel and enables them not to chase the short sighted and self destructive profits like kidnapping, extortion, narco tiendas that the other cartels must rely on.
For 20+ years the US has built cases against Mayo, el Azul, Sanchez, Arzate, and other CDS bosses that remain free, protected by local politicians and protected by the people where they live and operate. This is a result of CDS being light years ahead of every cartel in Mexico when it comes to discipline, acumen, bought politicians, smuggling and money laundering, and when the other CDS wanna bees engage in all of the high profile crimes they engage in it only helps the CDS b/c the CDS isn't about promoting their perception of power by spectators and cheerleaders of the trade like cjng and the other craven gangs that prey on innocent people.

    3. My belief is that Mexican government can do better. Unfortunately Mexican politicians are imbedded too Deep with these guys. A new leader who definitely cares for his citizens and its future.
For the unknown hero of Mexico to make this change. I will applaud you and stand with you.

    4. 10:42 Stronger than ever? Reports indicate otherwise. There's been reports of infighting since at least late 2015, and they lost a lot of key people last year. Homicide rates have increased in the majority of their strongholds, and multiple security analysis claim that they're not as unified as they used to be. They're certainly still powerful, but to say that they're stronger than ever is nonsense.

    5. 9:26 the mexican governments and army will keep renewing the top every new governor and every new predident, don't cry for them, except some may be prosecuted and extradited, then they will cry for you

    6. The infighting will do them in more than anything else, remember "divide and conquer" the government knows how to play people against each other.
