Tamaulipas: 3 Texans Rescued after being kidnapped in Mexico

Lucio R. Borderland Beat Material from Zocalo and Facebook

Three members of a family who were kidnapped on April 13th, were rescued by a joint operation of the Anti - Kidnapping State Coordination (CEA), Tamaulipas Ministerial Police Force and the State of San Luis Potosi .

The Coordination Group Tamaulipas (GCT) reported that the coordinated action, which ended the yesterday, when authorities arrested two of the kidnappers and killed the ringleader, identified as Edgar Ariel Gallegos Gallegos, 45, residing in Ciudad Victoria.

The accomplices arrested were Juan Gabriel Idrogo Perez, 19, and Rucina Guadalupe Cruz Gomez, 27, who remain under investigation.  It is presumed they participated in other kidnappings in various parts of the Victoria-Zaragoza-Tampico highway.

The Tamaulipas state government said the three Mexican Americans from Dallas, two women and a man, were freed Monday from a criminal group’s camp along a highway near Ciudad Victoria.

The trio told Mexican authorities that they left McAllen on April 13 to attend a funeral in Ciudad Valles, when they were ambushed by gunpoint. The kidnappers demanded a ransom for their release.

When the kidnappers camp in Lazaro Cardenas ijido, in Zaragosa near Victoria was discovered, a shootout commenced which resulted in the killing of the ring leader.

  1. Why, some kidnappers just see somebody that looks like probably they come from the US and they go kidnapping them for their money...
    Good job!
--This will keep foreigners from helping mexican government make money from tourists.

    1. WTF are you saying! If I could understand your point I would comment. What you said is just plain confusing.

    2. That's stupid, I go to tamaulipas Mexico more then a few times a year I speak English in public and ride in expensive cars and I've never been kidnapped, most likely these people were doing something they weren't supposed to be doing to get kidnapped, contrary to popular belief the cartels usually don't mess with civilians that aren't connected to a cartel.the ones who kidnap for ransom are the cops.

    7. He or she is fucking lying, who the fuck do you speak English to over there? Everyone is connected some way or somehow to the mob overthere $50 American dollars is what it cost to get your ass snatched shut the fuck up tamps don't play with faggots like you.

    8. 12:40 What is stupid is the fact you believe cartels do not mess with civilians and the kidnappers are only cops. You must be one of the idiots keeping cartels in business by using their product with thoughts like that. This statement was not confusing at all 11:47 you are another product of use obviously. I understood the comment being made. Everyone wants to protect Mexico by blaming this group or that group. It is apparent there are way too many groups to consider. The only thing these tourists did wrong was take a trip to that dumpster of a country in the first place.

    9. 12:40 - agree. I too am in Mexico two or three times a month driving my 2015 or 2016 model truck or SUV and drive to Monterrey, Potosi, Leon, DF, Celaya, Durango, Mazatlan, Culiacan, etc and never had problem in the 20+ years I've been selling to Mexican companies - except the occasional policia trying to get 200-300 pesos for my supposedly speeding (especially in Monterrey). I tend to think there's more to story too...., I think it was settling of scores in some manner. In Durango, Sinaloa, Nayarit, and other strong controlled plazas I feel most safe as a white blond gringo b/c they don't want heat or US messing with them. That's why I make sure my windows aren't very tinted....I've got nothing to hide and am a non-participant just passing thru on biz!

Read the crime news in the US, people in death row for raping, dismembering, random killing, you will get scared, but even so I travel in the US as in Mexico feeling safe on both sides.

    15. 10:17 "the news in the US", the richest, the pulitzer winners, MainStream Media aka MSM, do not like too much "yellow journalism" like murder, extortions, drug trafficking, especially that crime politicians specialize in, corrupt public officers, and businessmen, but MSM loves getting paid to supress news and sweep them under the carpet...
Let's remember here how MSM drove the San Jose Mercury to retract prizewinning reports of a GARY WEBB and drove him to suicide by taking his job, his credibility, his merits he earned, all on his own, with his "Incredible Conspiracy Theories that proved to be true and led to indictments and investigations and congressional sessions and inquiries" and bla bla bla that ended in presidential pardons for all involved...and apologies to GARY WEBB from the sharks that bit his small fish ass...

    16. Fuck going to Mexico if you don't have to. For those of you who have to because of business related reasons or family good for you. Have at it. For me and mine its a big NO. If I can afford to go to Mexico then I can afford to go to Costa Rica instead. I have been to Mexico several times and the last time being around 2004. The first time was when I went to Juarez at 15 in 1988 and the next time was when I went to Matamoras a couple of years after Mark Kilroy was abducted and killed there. Back then I was young, dumb and full of .....well you know the rest. The dangers weren't as apparent because the old school mafiosos kept the civilians as safe as possible. Bottom line it is just not worth the risk these days for my family.

  8. A lot of common criminals commit crimes like extortion , kidnapping , murders , robberies but are not actually part of a drug cartel like CDG or the Zetas . Of course , some criminals do pay " upstairs " for the privilege of working in a criminal organization's territory . Sometimes if they are working independently they are picked up by law enforcement and handed over to the CO for disposal .

    2. I currently live in Mexico in Ajijic (Chapala lake), we - foreigners - from all over the world laugh at the dumb "gringos" who are scared, we live peacefully in paradise, we analize the situation in the US and are scared of it, walling the way OUT (Berlin's wall had similar reasoning, to keep the bad influence out), proposing to ban Muslims, similar to Hitler's germany, with police violence and thousends of people killed by drugs, here we go to the organic market, walk at night and say hi to everyone and most people - like every where else in the world - is good and polite. We understand there is crime in Mexico, just like in the US, but we have lived in both countries and we selected Mexico. Have you ever lived aboard?

    3. 10:10 hey, good for you, I pass, I hope that is not a problem.

    4. Yes and I agree with you but 30 years ago before Mexico had a drug problem there were more safer places than now to travel all over Mexico.

      Delete
    5. @ Anomymous. Just because YOU "live in paradise", does not negate the fact that there is a serious crime problem in Mexico (as there is in the U.S.). And much of the crime problem involves innocent people who were brutally and savagely murdered by the cartels. You've selected Mexico...great. What do you want? A gold medal? And to answer your condescending question: yes, I have lived abroad - in several different countries. Just because Mexico is the place for you, doesn't invalidated the opinions of people who DON'T feel safe visiting Mexico.

  12. Lots of talk about "you go to Mexico at your own risk" but the overall crime rate in a lot of areas is lower than "nice parts" of the US, particularly major US cities and much of the southwest.

Either side of the US-Mexico border pretty much sucks for the first 100km, give or take, with some exceptions. I think El Paso is relatively nice, can't think of another exception. Some people like San Diego

  16. Maybe everybody does not get kidnapped there but Ciudad Victoria is dangerous, especially at night. Daytime maybe not so much, but at night you see some scary people and you try not to get their attention. Not all the people who are kidnapped are involved with the carteles or narco business. Some are just tourists or innocent people who were targeted for whatever reason. The kidnappers are not always cartel members as there are several local kidnapping rings operating in that area. Ciudad Valle is also risky at night. The zetas in that area were stopping whole busloads of people and kidnapping or abducting people as well as raping and/or murdering people as well. It's really not known how many they killed during that time. Have been there many times, even at night, but it has gotten worse and I no longer cruise through that area at night.
