Australia: 712M (usd) worth of Chinese liquid meth, seized in bra inserts

Liquid meth, traffickers hoped to pass as liquid for bra inserts
MORE than $1.2 billion worth of ice has been seized and four people have been arrested in what officials say is the largest liquid methamphetamine bust in Australian history.

The drugs were allegedly imported into the country hidden in gel bra inserts and art supplies.

Federal Justice Minister Michael Keenan yesterday announced 720 litres of liquid methamphetamine was seized in a joint operation by Australian Federal Police, NSW Police, Australian Border Force, the Australian Crime Commission and the NSW Crime Commission.
“This has resulted in 3.6 million individual hits of ice being taken off our streets with a street value of $1.26 billion,” Mr Keenan said.
The bust was two months in the making after the Joint Organised Crime Group began Operation OVCHARKA in November to investigate illegal drugs bound for Australia from Asia.

On Boxing Day Border Force officers examined 86 boxes of silicon bra inserts imported from Hong Kong and allegedly discovered about 190 litres of liquid methamphetamine inside.

Sites in Hurstville, Rockdale, Miranda and Padstow were searched between December 23 and December 30, with a further 530 litres of the drug allegedly found hidden in art supplies along with 2kg of crystal meth.

On January 14, the JOCG delivered the bra inserts to a storage facility in Burwood where a 33-year-old Hong Kong man was arrested and charged with importing a border controlled drug.

A 37-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman from Hong Kong and a 59-year-old Chinese man were arrested about two weeks later after JOCG staff allegedly found evidence of drug manufacture at homes in Hurstville and Campsie. “This has been a very good day for Australia law enforcement,” Mr Keenan said. The four arrested will appear in court next month and could face life in prison if convicted.

  3. A bit of context: In the past 6 months the media in Australia have been giving a lot of coverage to how big the meth business is. The truth is that it's really not that bad. In Perth the major newspaper made this huge article series on front pages for ages called "meth city" (I couldn't help but think of how much worse Tijuana is in comparison). There is a problem but it has been blown up by the media. Yes this is a HUGE bust but it's not really going to do much because, as we know, the war on drugs a joke. The police recently have been showing the media how they're doing something about it (nothing much). You might think this is going to make a lasting difference, it won't. Compared to Mexico the problem is nothing.

    1. I agree 834. Plus, the shit is easily made not having to be grown for months. A billion is greater than, yet the average mean in ease is lesser than. Unlike Mexicans, Asians do not kill each other over shit like this, and neither do Australians. Discipline, tradition, honor and pride.
Prediction: United States with the help of homemade informants is behind this one too. It will not be a surprise if others fly to the United States to collaborate for answers. The wrecking ball swings in many directions

    4. Ok 10:13 . I have to reply and hopefully do it in a non offensive manor . My father served beside aussies in the 2nd world war . Said as a rule they were some of the bavest men he'd seen . That said I would say some have huge egos ."Discipline, tradition, honor and pride. Just from your statement I would say you dabble in the stuff a touch . Reality hasn't reared its ugly head for you yet or you just didn't recognize it yet. There is no honor when it comes to drug addiction . If you have it you will lose it . A drug trafficker is very dishonorable by all normal persons standards . Meth is the scourge of the earth. Anyone dealing it is very very dishonorable

What I mean is that the level if meth usage in Australia is not that bad. Of course the meth is terrible. I'm saying the media is blowing it up way bugger than it is. The main point is that Australia and it's media are acting like there is a huge problem in Australia yet they barely ever cover anything that happens in Mexico. They'll cover a story of a couple of people being shot in a western country but never anything on the massacre of hundreds of migrants like the Zetas did a few years of ago all at once. I just feel that we as australians don't know or care about the rest of the world.

    8. 733. Bite your tongue. Meth is a dirty drug originally made by the bikers. Bikers like the neighbors that may live on YOUR street. Dishonorable? Yah, you not only tell that to them, but tell that to the ones who without a word made them even richer. And by the way, I know people in Australia, and no it is not made up of criminals. So, go back to your sesame street books, as Dr. Seuss may be too advanced for you

    9. For god's sake australia had a lot of convicts yes however after they served there sentences most became normal citizens again or rich scum who took more land from aborigines. But that is how it was I guess. There has never been a problem crime in australia really. The biggest thing was called the 'gangland war' where like 30 people died over a few years and they made the biggest deal over it. 30 heads are dumped on a freeway in Mexico and nobody cares.

    10. Sorry mate but you don't know what you're talking about. Methamphetamine is the worst of the worst. I've seen firsthand what this drug does to people, many many times. It takes away your soul. Dead in the eyes. Ultra violent and 24 7 paranoid. And the money.. The main reason this drug is so dangerous. There's a huge market for this and the profit margin is ridiculous. It's driving pot dealers to switch up to meth. Soon there will be no pot dealers anymore, just strictly meth dealers. And the violence that comes with meth will only increase. To say there's no problem with this is just stupid. Something only someone out of touch with what's happening on the streets would say. There's also a Chinese mafia that are infiltrating our countries, posing as multi billionaire businessmen. Cutting deals with our Government on both sides, buying up our assets, saturating our land with Chinese slave workers. This businessmen are drug dealing, arms trafficking mafioso. Our politicians are selling our countries to the worst criminals

    12. Oh my, how pathetic people believe all that media bullshit. Those "faces of meth" pictures haven't changed for over 10 years. Methamphetamine Hydrochloride is approved by the FDA and listed as a schedule 2 drug. More media BS, swimming pool acid and drain cleaner are in it. WRONG! Muriatic Acid (pool acid) and Sodium Hydroxide (Lye, Drain Cleaner) are used as part of the manufacturing process for pH purposes those same 2 ingredients are used to purify salt water into drinking water, and the sodium hydroxide is used for the pickling process to make green olives. Not attempting to condone it but please people stop being a poster child for the trolls the government wants us to be. Everything they show in pictures and posters are only part of the process and should NOT be in your final product.

    1. The main ingredient, pseudo ephedrine, as always come from China. Because most countries have prohibited the large scale sale of pseudo ephedrine and cough syrups. The Chinese mafia sell to all countries, including the Mexicans. Meth is China's monopoly.

--Also used to control heroine withdrawal on the 80's with government dispensaries trying to rehab, they said methadone was the very best in the world, and safe...while cocaine was being promoted as an even safer alternative to H or speed, by the very smart and intelligent CIA, inventors of crack for the masses...and LSD for the real curious intellectuals...

  9. It wasn't really that huge of a bust. The weight they used includes water, and it's probably mostly water. I wouldn't doubt if they included the packaging as well.

    1. At the risk of reveling to much about myself I have to say I doubt it was "mostly water" . I know little about current meth but in the 80's I have seen large liquid amounts turned to solid using various methods including uv light . It didn't change weight. I survived it and in the past 30 years have evolved into a different person I hate drugs and dealers .
My point was I doubt if it had any water in it .

      Delete
    2. You can't measure packaging in litres. And it would be pure. Water is a waste of space, and you should already know that it's cut when it reaches it's destination.

    2. Because the Mexican cartels have expanded their business into all the worlds major markets. The US drug agencies have dropped the acronym (DTO) for drug trafficking organizations and now refer to them as transcontinental criminal organizations (TCO).

      Delete
    3. You wait Chinese are going to give Mexicans a run for their money.Already producing and they got the raw materials.Soon to be importing in North America after Europe which they are probably doing already.

      Delete
    4. WIth all due respect that was 3 years ago, but even now they use it sometimes.

and candiana. I think you need to brush up, the Chinese provide 90% of the world precursor for making meth including all Mexican Meth. since regulations in legit precursor product e.g. cold meds, China/Asia/Triads control the world market. They could easily handle production, but supplying precursor to drug trafficking countries and getting a cut is a better business proposition.

      Delete
    5. That is my whole point. It can be made anywhere in the world not just Mexico as long as you have the chemicals and yes China does. Not every country can grow coke but make meth yes if you can get chemicals so Mexico right now has monopoly on it but business plans change and competition[international]could heat up for Mexicans.Maybe this was China's test run.Especially if the profit margin is so huge.

I "see" it and more behind the scenes, but let's just watch and bust lil guy, since he's made to do everything for stuff.
