Mireles’ Message From Prison: Yes It Was Worth It

Translated by Valor for Borderland Beat

(Message dated October 14, 2015; Received on December 2, 2015, Hermosillo, Sonora)

“On the other hand, one of the people who sent me a letter strongly questioned me whether our struggle was worth it, because some of us are imprisoned while others are being assassinated along with their entire families.  This is why I want to send a short message.

The national front of autodefensas was made official on May 5, 2014 and on May 28, 2014, it became known worldwide with 12 states of the republic, in the Polyforum Cultural Siqueiros.

By 6pm that day, there had already been 19 states that had registered.  A day before my arrest, a 20th state registered.  YES IT WAS WORTH IT.

To all of the autodefensas of Michoacán and of the Mexican Republic, I tell them to continue to organize, to take care of their life, their house, their towns, and their productivity, if we fight; we won’t die when the criminals want us to die.

If we fight, we will only die when God wills it.  I tell you this from experience.  After seven ambushes, and a plane crash, I kept fighting organized crime in Michoacán and my worthwhile witnesses have been the reporters of Denise Maerker.  As well as those from the newspaper El País and the Washington Post and others who were with us in some of our battles.

This is why I tell you to organize and to take care of your communities, by neighborhood and by the entrances and exits of the towns.

While to the brave legitimate autodefensas of Michoacán I ask them—without neglecting a minute of their lives, of their families, their property, and their productivity— to stay in the background without letting your guard down, while the new government installs the rule of law, with the constitutional respect that you deserve, such as the Chamber of Deputies or the true representatives of the people.

For all these reasons I say that YES OUR STRUGGLE WAS WORTH IT, since our towns, thanks to our brave autodefensas, now with their Rural Police uniforms or some without uniforms, continue to patrol and take care of our towns and communities, procuring peace and dignity that they need for a happy and productive life.  YES IT WAS WORTH IT.

Even though I’m imprisoned and 400 comrades are too, YES IT WAS WORTH IT because in Tepalcatepec, they gave us 24 hours to live and after those 24 hours, “not even the chickens” would be alive.

This threat was made on February 24, 2013, THE SICARIOS OF THE REGION and all of our autodefensa advice have survived to date, October 14, 2015.  YES IT WAS WORTH IT, even though I’m imprisoned and others are in a cementary, IT WAS WORTH IT.  That’s all.

Fraternally

'Constitution and Justice'

Dr. Manuel Mireles

National Front of Autodefensas

P.S.:  I repeat my greetings and respects to all the HH:. and to the people who sent me messages of support.”

  1. Hopefully, the picture of the doctor with the other people, along with other images, will be looked at and remembered historically as when the people shook off the yoke and challenged the status quo; lest it all be in vain.

Now some krautz have come a long way, I hope they support the lawsuits against Heckler and Koch for trafficking unlawfully illegal weapons to mexico's genocidal government for their murderous poolice and military, AND WHEN THE POOP hit the fan, H&K STILL EXPORTED THE TECHNOLOGY for the mexican governing narco-mierdocracia to make their own version of the weapons...

  4. A living legend, I would love to see a few thousand people walk this man out of prison, but unfortunately it will probably take his death for people to stand up to the blatant injustice he and his kind have to endure.

  10. Thanks for the update. And sorry for the bother, I wanted to request an update article from you guys. I was curious as to what became of Sandra Beltran, Kiki Plancartes daughter, smurf, Esther the teachers union lady, etc

    1. Papa Smurf is still alive...he did an interview back in November and he's the leader of the Fuerza Rural in La Ruana still.

Aristegui interviewed Nestora Salgado, another imprisoned leader, who claims that Esther ran the Tepepan Prison when she was imprisoned there. I'll post the article later today hopefully.

Esther's in a private hospital now I believe. They operated on her in early December to prevent peritonitis.

I don't know about the other two.

    ReplyDelete

    1. @8:05. I think he should be. But in answer to your question as to why he doesn't have a Nobel Prize, I found out 2 or 3 years ago when I wanted to nominate Chivis for a NObel that it is a very difficult and complicated process.

    2. Speaking of Chivis, haven't seen her inna while.. Hope shes ok?

    3. Obama and kissinger have Nobel prizes, I think they are overvalued now, the time cover Dr Mireles set from peña nieto without spending any money, or his asking for it, is worth a lot more now Mireles is more like Don Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar, el Cid Campeador, who defeated the moors even after he was dead, dead for reals!!!
--Not like some uncle bernie weekend comedy...

      Delete
    4. @7:04. I don't agree that a Time cover of Mireles, which also posted a cover of Pena Nieto as "Savoir of Mexico" is equal or more tribute than a Nobel Prize.

      Delete
    5. If some of the biggest crooks can earn a Nobel prize, we are not going to put Dr Mireles in their company, his people really like Mireles, obama's and kissinger's people do not really like them...

  27. Yes, I am a Canadian also and have been following Dr. Mireles for many years. He is a great inspiration to the people of Mexico and beyond. The world is watching! Because he is of such high integrity, the government of Mexico sees him as a threat! A natural leader, because he is brave and right! I also would like to write to Dr. Mireles and let him know how much we respect and love his efforts.

  29. The good Doctor started a great movement but I am now troubled that a great number of the now uniformed AD,s are becoming ever more corrupt and even openly cooking meth etc. Though Dr Mireles is a terrible husband he is at least a man with an honest mission. Its time for him to be freed. I only hope that he can lead the vast majority of law abiding Mexicans to fight and win what is a mountain of nightmare to end.

    1. How good a husband has to be to a hairy faced woman?
and there is no right amount of shaving that will fix her face.
The Dr has had one known affair, and the young woman was the one who went for it, the doctor even talked to her father, so there is nothing to prosecute here but the mexican narco-mierdocracia and their corrupting ways...

  30. Borderland Beat has reported statements and interviews where the good Doctor was also troubled about what was happening in some of the other auto-defense groups. I takes a strong leader to make the AD movement work. That is why he is in prison.

I thought he was supposed to be freed quite some time ago... why are the mexican political prisoners not given bail or due process... how can a so called free country to the north not call for his release, im sure they have something on those that are keeping him locked up can use against them as leverage if they dont hold their end of the bargain
