"Now
I no longer refer to it as organized crime, it is now authorized crime, it is a disgrace that there are still people without anyone to defend
them."
"I am a prisoner
in the Cereso Hermosillo, Sonora, for 14 months and still my legal status is not
defined…. I am a political prisoner," said Jose Manuel Mireles Valverde,
leader and founder of the Autodefensa Movement (self-defense) of Tierra
Caliente (Michoacán) on an audio which
was broadcast on social networks.
His well-known voice is
easily recognized in the audio, however it is a voice that resonates weak, and weary.
In the recording that
lasts nine minutes, the coastal autodefensa leader detained since his arrest last June 27, 2014,
in La Mira, Lazaro Cardenas, recalled that is imprisoned for defending his
people, and mourns the recent killings
of several autodefensa coordinators in
the region.
"Now I no longer
refer to it as organized crime, it is now authorized crime, it is a
disgrace that there are still people without anyone to defend them," he
charged, noting that although there are federal and military elements in
communities, they do nothing to defend people."
He said; if he thought his detention would stop the
violence in the region, he would be willing to sacrifice. He asserts that the prosecutors
have been playing games with his case for 14 months. He charges continual delays occur when a
prosecutor or “expert” fails to be present at hearings, a ploy to extend his
time in prison.
He reiterated that the autodefensas
have waited three years for justice to be conducted in the state, but only received
incarceration or execution of its leaders.
He mentioned the autodefensa
leaders of Aquila, Cemeí Verdía Zepeda, imprisoned
for a month, (released then immediately arrested for murder) and in Yurécuaro, Enrique Hernández, murdered in
May.
And the leaders of Churumuco,
Huetamo and Nueva Italia, also executed during last month, "it is sad that they are
killing leaders who only took up arms to defend themselves."
The audio comes to an
abrupt end it the middle of his speaking.
How very sad...,the beautiful, subservient people of beautiful, disgraced Mexico, treated like animals by their suppressive, criminal government! They have planned to kill the good Doctor - regardless of how long it takes. A good revolution backed firing squad is needed to clean up this ungodly blot on humanity which has continually become worse ever since the last revolution.
ReplyDeleteYES! it is very sad especially when the US gov gives Mexican gov millions every year to oppress the people of Mexico.
DeleteYes u r right. Obama and Nieto afraid of people like Dr. Mierles, They know with guns these guys he will overthrow the Gov.
DeleteThank God we have guns in the US
DeleteOnly the bad guys have guns in Mexico and Chicago
Delete@ 9:00 In mx the good guys can have guns too, they just got it do it like the malandros do, smugle the pistola from the US to mx to protect their family.
DeleteLa revolucion nos espera mañana. The Revolution awaits us .
DeleteHow idiotic for you to say Obama give them guns. This has been happening long before he became president and would continue. So please, if you're going to point fingers, do so at the right people that are corrupt as they come.
DeleteThis man could probably have made a fortune for himself by backing one group or another, instead he stands up for ordinary people and ends up in jail. How did we reach this level of madness?
ReplyDeleteHe is exactly right when he calls it authorized crime. How these politicians sleep at night is beyond me. Just like the Nazis did, they must tell themselves that their countrymen are subhuman so they can rationalize the brutality these poor people have to endure day in, day out. So afraid of losing their billions of dollars, and extravagant lifestyles they allow, encourage, and even form their own extra judicial murder squads to eliminate with prejudice anyone perceived as a threat to their hegemony. It makes me sick when you showed the lifestyles of these politcians children pissing away money while the vast majority of their countrymen struggle to survive at a pitiful level. Then the government partners with the narcos again to eliminate what they see as a true threat to their power, a legitimate movement of the people who only rose up in arms because their lives were so bad that fighting back, and risking dying was preferable. The narcos can fill fosas with thousands of innocents, and it is no big deal, but when regular people who never would have had any political aspirations rise up to stop their daughters from being raped, their neighbors hacked apart like animals in an abattoir, and from being taxed to death from their meagre lime, and avocado harvests, then the government sees an enemy, and divides them, and blurs the lines so it is hard to tell who is what. I hope all these Mexican leaders reap what they sow, but especially EPN, and Miguel Osorio Chong. My love, and all the respect to the great Dr. Mireles, I hope you are vindicated soon, and my condolences to all the good autodefensea leaders who have been murdered in cold blood. I hope you did not die in vain, although sadly it is looking more, and more that way.
ReplyDeleteThis comment of 1:30 pm is one of the most elegant, erudite summations of current events in Mexico that I have ever read. Bravo, sir. Everyone in North America should read what you have to say. Keep up the good work.
DeleteMexicans are subhuman....according to peña nieto a good mexican is a slave mexican....
Delete4:02 that is the politics of United Fruit Co. and the rockefellers for banana republics of LatinAmerica, since way before "peña nieto" was born, entiendes???
DeleteHe screwed up he needed alias that are narcos drugs are michoacan as advocates are
ReplyDeleteThe narcos were shoting people when they needed to fix things, the mass murdering and quartering of people started when the former military started working for the cartels after practice and training murdering people in Chenalhó/Acteal, el charco, Aguas Blancas, mexico 68 or 72...leave alone the narcos, is has always been the state!
DeleteYup you got your dates right on. Drug production and Narcos stared in the 70s in Michoacan . The first marijuana seeds were brought in by the military only so they could earn stripes and bust the people they gave them too. It soon blossomed with different family's getting in to it. Not till the mid 80s did they start getting big by building alliances.
DeleteWhat a disgusting court system
ReplyDeleteWelcome to Mexico I just payoff
DeleteNieto will kill leader until they are gone. God Bless Mexico
DeleteThe ENTIRE system is disgusting! Mexico is being pimped out, like some cheap whore, to rest of the world, while its citizens suffer from it. She is being used, abused and misused, by anyone with enough money, to keep her on her back. The problems in Mexico, are problems caused by many outsiders, in other countries. Many countries are contributing to the problems, but none of the solutions. This is not just a problem caused by Mexico and the United States, it's problems are created globally. Yes, some have their hand deeper in the cookie jar than others, but...they all got crumbs on their faces.
DeleteThe crumbs on the table are for the rabble...
Delete--the owners of big time crime in mexico have blueberry pie on their faces...
--naming names is disgusting, dividing and not politically correct, according to the Animal Protection Society of America...
Has tje UN and NATO or a global rights group brought this to any proper chanells attention??
ReplyDeleteAll the human rights organizations have been corrupted, that is why they do not make waves, unless they find a bone, then they run to Sweden or Austria with it to make sure it is just a chicken bone full of bullshit...
ReplyDelete#chinga tu madre peña nieto... gets messed up...but...
#chingas a tu perra madre, peña nieto... still works...images
In the jungle the most influential mess up the less influential and mireles got fcked up' by both sides... 'His side' could not protect him .. Now that is some ch'cken bullshit...
Delete9:56 the day Dr Mireles was arrested he had been trying to arrive to help a former autodefensas member el Gordo Valencia who was being murdered with his family, like a pig, but the mexican military did not allow them to get there sooner, the military was also protecting the assessins of the valencia family...
Delete--The blessed pretenses of humanistic democracy of the amerikkkan redeemers of humanity, do not look like "roar" of the law of the jungle, they sound like, 'US popó'...
4:33 Did you get it? ...If you want him out, get him out, quit bitchin' bout it.
DeleteAre you the boss of me?
Delete--Funny how mini dictator wannabe's who do not "get it" themselves like to bitch and ask others if they "got it", like impertinent babies become beasty boys...
Yes he is your dictator. Seems like you didn't get it, taking things the other way around? Keep blaming othas while you are never guilty,, beasty beast.. ?
DeleteCan not Father Goya who is highly respected by the Vatican bring about some pressure from the Pope who is certainly not bashful about letting his feeling known about injustice?
ReplyDeleteThis is the best Idea ever... I am not catholic and dont believe in the pope but since %75 of Mejico ars catholics...
DeletePope is powerless, just a figurehead...this is the 21st century not the middle ages
DeleteWaste of time the Pope is anti gun
DeletePadre Goya is pro gun. What hell has the Pope done for Mexico! nothing Yea prayer is good, you need guns to protect yourself.
DeleteBeg to differ. This Pope is no medieval hold over or a figurehead. Frankie paid for his education working as a nite club bouncer, fell in love with a woman, likes to dance the tango, smoked pot and finished his first university degree before he entered the seminary. He lives in a guest house on the Vatican's grounds, not in the luxurious papal apartment. Pope Frankie has said his papacy will be for 4 more years. I am not a Catholic, but I love this Pope! He has kicked ass--heads of state, the media, corruption within his church, it is a long list of harm to people that he speaks out against publicly. Go online, check it out!
DeleteWhat are we going to do ? Is there anything we can do ? Does much of the world know ? I don't know what to do except try and make it more known . Maybe we figure a way to get it in the mouth of American political candidates . They seem to want to discuss Mexico . It needs to become a issue . Trump seems to get heard no matter what . If somebody could just get him to bring it up . Im not saying back Trump but if he says something people will try to find out what he is talking about . May sound stupid but Mexican politics should be as important to the US as US politics is to Mexico . People figure out a way for him to know about the Dr. and he could mention him.
ReplyDeleteYes is something you can do......pick up an ak 47....simple right? ?? Mexico has cancer on its political system... no way to free Dr mirelss, but using force..
DeleteBoy did the Doc nail that 1 on the head, authorized crime rather than organized.I think the Mexican people need to shout it from the rooftops for anything to change. Not enough noise, need more than a US protest as gov is thickskinned.
DeleteMore people have died and disappeared in Mexico than in Iraq and Afghanistan. Despite taking place just accross our door step it hardly gets any attention in our media.
DeleteWhy?
Because our government friendly mass media never reports on any of the nasty side effects from our government policies (in this case the 'war on drugs').
Thus, change to government policy (especially foreign policy) will never be suggested by any of the handfull of groups which still control 90% of our media.
the problem is Nieto is a thug making $$$$$ off the Drugs.
Deleteproblem is Dr. Mireles don't have a clean record according to Wikipedia . it seem he done time years ago for marijuana production . This really let the wind out of my sails . Just found it out. Who is he really ? Part of a society where drug production is commonplace ? Is that it ? Now its gotten to be terrible and the producers are fighting the dealers ? I really don't know . We cant say they are just charging him to ruin his reputation because this happened decades ago. Its my understanding he spent time in the U.S. as an "activist . What does that mean ?
Deleteno, the problem is you rely on Wikipedia for your information. dr. Mireles has been up front and open about what happened 25-30 years ago. he was arrested with his brother charged with growing a small amount of marijuana, not traficing the product. He pled not guilty and was tortured as was his brother. he eventually was released in 18 months or so. it was difficult to locate any record of it, he supplied the paper work he had.
Deleteso move ahead to when he applied for a resident visa to move his family to the U.S. he and his family were all approved. he spent almost a decade in northern California, living a humble life, an avid volunteer as a translator for the American red cross and president of the national migrant association. and president of the California migrant association.
@12:42 AM: "..AUTHORISED CRIME NO MORE!" We'll need an APP...
Delete¡¡ VIVA MIRELES !! ¡¡ VIVA MÉXICO !!
It is State Crime, public servants do not have authority to incarcerate anybody at will on fictitious charges, without proof...
Delete--but public servants have taken the "authority" they give themselves to propagate and self-perpetuate as a narco-satrapy, and commit all kind of abuses...
--the authority is the people's, we need to stop accepting that the government is any kind of imperial entity with "authority" to do as they please or authorize crimes as they see fit...
--guatemalans are fabricating guillotines in the public plaza, after putting president tito Arias in prison and getting his "resignation", without fighting it out with the guatermalan armed forces or the kaibiles...all graduates of the Schools of the Assassins like mayor TIto Arias aka general Otto Perez Molina or "president" Efrain Rios montt...
It's always going to be "an expert failed to show for a hearing"..or some other excuse, a very poor ones at that. Needless to say, that's just the way it is. It's always going to be something to obstruct the motions, hearings..appeals. That 'something" is smoke and mirrors. Acting like they are going through the right motions and channels, but nothing gets anywhere...and neither does the doctor. Today a problem with this, next week, another problem with something else. They wanted the doc, they got him...and he aint going nowhere, til they feel satisfied he will not cause any problems. He's too much of a 'problem' for the govt and they all know it. Anyone who can bring light, into a dark corner..and expose things for what they are, is a huge problem. A problem best left behind in a prison cell, far away from the eyes and ears of others.
ReplyDeleteHe was a political prisoner the day he was arrested on B.S. charges and will be freed the day he dies or has a dibilitating medical condition and has to be wheeled around, spoon-fed, and have his ass wiped.
ReplyDelete.
Mira! As soon as we speak, the snitches start talkiñg. And we get beaten, arrested, raped, and killed.
ReplyDeleteDope is flowing hard and strong in the US!
Who cares about dope flowing anywhere...
Delete--MONEY BIG BUCKS are flowing to the biiig money laundering banks, and nobody touches them, not even to mention the suspects in public, by the state, press, radio or tv...
Good call, 4:49 PM. Money laundering and flash-drive election fraud are off limits for the press to even mention. Worse! When info & facts online support the case for wrong doing, nobody seems to care enough to insist on justice for law breakers like money launders or elections thieves hijacking governments. Sad Sick World...
DeleteCourageous man, it turns my stomach to see him in jail while cartel bosses are cheered for like football teams,I wonder how the government would deal with 3 or 4 thousand ordinary men walk up to that prison and walk him, if nothing else the world would see them for the murdering pigs that they are.
ReplyDeleteThis man will be written about in history books .
ReplyDeleteHe is the greatest Mexican leader to ever lived.
How fucking stupid can people be to still believe that the mexican government/police/military/politicians have ANY interest in doing ANYTHING at all for 'the people'.
ReplyDeleteWake up!
The mexican government/police/military/politicians are only interested in battling each other whilst enriching themselves (if they are corrupt) or just save themselves (if they are not corrupt).
Also, the non-corrupt dont last long since they are bumped off if they dont take the pay (plomo or plata) and therefore the honest people among the mexican elite have been weeded out and replaced with such that are more usefull to keep the criminal gravy train going.
ANNDDD... BOOOM!! There you go! You got it! You know how it is in the majority of the time. EXACTLY LIKE THAT.
Delete& That is exactly why, things never get better.
2:24 your only problem is that you think that the poor little defenseless narco-politicians and the police and military they control, including their big time generals and officers who have graduated from foreign military schools like the School of the Amerikkkas, or their secret paramilitaries like the brigada blanca, the Pentathlon Olimpico Militar, the halcones, the herculos, la oficina, los afos, los aztecaz, los gates or los gafes or los gafes... and the help of about 10 billion dollars in weapons from the US government "get corrupted by the biig baad evil narcos..." you are full of shit yourself @2:24
Delete@12:45, I'm so sick of people like you who always trace back to the United States as the source of all problems. Granted the nation is not perfect, but please, get ahold of yourself and lay off the conspiracy theories. Your freedom of speech emanates from the constitution and your kkk spelling of America is tiresome. Get a life.
DeleteAND I AM SICK AND TIRED OF CHASING MY TAIL LIKE A TAIL LESS DOG...
Delete--I did not invent the Schools of the Amerikkkas or their LatinAmerikkkan Assassins Hall of Fame, or the contras or the kaibiles, I did not invent the imperfections of the US, and I do not benefit from any of it... blame, see, SoA watch, com
--I also do not owe you or your US my freedoms...
--I owe the real american people the truth, they are grown ups, not some facking little babies that can be mislead forever by the likes of little screwy secretive bitches like you @5:50 guau, guau!!!
@5:50
DeleteEven BB has reported about the military aid granted to mexico to help the "war on drugs", 1.5 billion DOLLARS, after mexicans got one airplane that crashed and another captured on the yucatan peninsula, both CIA Planes...about 10 tons cocaine...Operation Mayan Jaguar...
--Extending that help to about 4 billions in "help" plus sales of about other 4 billions in weapons to mexico from the US...all reported on BB...
--Save the good name of the US, report this to Congress oversight commissions or human rights somewhere, because nobody in mexico can do it, specially the victims of State Crimes...they are dead...
5:50 Take an aspirin, put it between your knees and hold on for dear life, it will not work of course, but at least you will have tried...
DeleteThen trace your lineage, go back from whence you came, and tell me how you like it. You soon will be crying for your rights, oh yea, you won't have any.
DeleteThe donal' would mention Dr Mireles to prove there is "dangerous" people like him, illegal, roaming US killing fields, what if he had started doing "Julio Cesar Chavez" organizing of the United Farm Workers of America?
ReplyDelete--powerfull double two timing politician newt Gingrich complained bitterly about a Saul Alinsky's school of organizing, that was ruining his life, that Saul Alinsky must be someone worth reading, and if you get good, you can make millions of dollars, be president, or help someone become president of the US, like Hillary...now she has millions of dollars and two elected and reelected presidents in her belt
Your comment is apropos of nothing and tinged with paranoid schizophrenia.
DeleteMan ! Talk about not in touch with what was said . The blow hard is being heard . I doubt trump would ever criticize the founder of the farm works union . He may seem dumb to you but I am pretty sure he aint that dumb . Mexico is a issue in US politics regardless . Everybody loves a candidate that condemns injustice . It couldn't do anything but help if he spoke up . Right now he is being heard.
DeleteThe founder of the farmers union does not vote anymore, his heirs do, not all are illegal aliens or murdering drug traffickers, much less dirty drug money launderers, that is a very select club, as is the club of convicted genocidal US mass murderers, they accept only members with millions of deaths in their resumès...
DeleteAt this point Mireles is done. When and if he does comes out theyll probably assasinate him. So he should feel lucky the prosecuters dont show up.
ReplyDeleteHe's a far cry from done. What the Good Doctor is catalyst to will not rest or be silenced until this corruption shiet gets stopped in Mexico by the country's everyday people....No Justice. No Peace.
Delete¡¡ VIVA EL PUEBLO MEXICANO !!
If he dies a revolution will begin .
DeleteWhy wait till he dies, alot of people have been dying n no signs of a revolution...mireles dies all ull get is crickets from the public..there wasnt even a revolution for the 43studentz.
Delete@1:54 weelll, you have not seen the "marchas and demostraciones" all over mexico, the revolution may look slow, retarded, non existent, to people in a hurry to see results for their contributions, or to investors that make money from arming both sides of a war or conflict...
Delete--more properly said, you may not ever see another.armed revolution started by the mexican people, in spite of all the.murdering done by armed sicarios of the mexican government and their military, paramilitary and police forces, but see guatemala for a reference...or nicaragua, ecuador, bolivia, argentina, chile, all their fascist military have gone down, out and away without wars. Only cuba remains...but it is also changing like china, without a war...
--the European Union is also changing, without a war...sorry...but, not sorry...
8:06pm that/those aint a revolution those are peace walks u idiot, a revolution is get ur weapons n fight fire with fire...obvisously Mireles tried to do that n look where he landed i dont see no one else doing the same Mora, Pitufo, etc... tried n now u dont hear squat from them they cant even help there friend in prison. So continue ur marches around the world. Mexico drug war is prevailing day by day they aint doing a damn thing to stop it.
DeleteBefore the revolution Cuba was like this!
ReplyDeleteNot the cartels but corrupt gvt that had death squads and oppressed the poor!
Cuba's still like that, huevón!
DeleteCuba is not as close as mx is when it comes to criminality. The country might broke cause of the sanctions and all that stuff, but cuba is in a better place than mx is when it comes to crime. They know how to tame their own animals, might have something to do with that Communist thing, only thing they need to progress might be the free trade agreement thing. But with money comes corruption... Would they become like china.. Or would they turn into a second mx only benefiting the ones at the top??
DeleteCubans are highly educated and the American embargo made life difficult.
DeleteNow that the trade embargo is lifted you will a much more prosperous Cuba!
The heirs of the Mafia and la Cosa Nostra are waiting in the wings to reintroduce corruption casinos, nightclubs, gambling and drug trafficking to the facking island, we do not have the santos trafficantes, Carlos Marcellos, lucky luciano or meyer lansky, but they had ti.e to see it get taken from them by the Jewish, the mormon, and the donal trump mafias...
Delete--do you know who is the heirs of the Santitos trafficantes family business?
Hint, they are very friendly with some cubans...
Puerto Rico is a dump.. Dominican Republic is a dump.. Cuba despite having no freedom for lots of years still better then both of them. Is it the gov. Is it the people. Or is it both. Arriba La Cuba!

ReplyDeleteWTF ??

DeleteROFL. I am a trump troll because I know he is a joke?
DeleteMaybe I needed a comma in there: If Trump says something, ANYTHING, intelligent people will ignore it. Why? Because intelligent people think Trump is a chump and a joke. Does that make better sense?
--MEXICO Is lucky the US does not send machetes instead of billions of dollars in "help"...Mexico has some money there there...

It's very sad that Guatemala showed the world their democracy and justice system is more advanced than Mexico's.

DeleteI am sorry and please forgive me, Chivis!
DeleteI was not doubting the hard work of the BB team. I just felt (sadly, and pessimistically) that the Doctor is not a topic anymore in general, and thus the low number of comments.
Now seeing nearly 50 makes me eat my words; I stand corrected.
I was surprised that people attacked the comment, because I took it as you evidently intended. But it also made my heart melt at how defensive people are of him. Notable is that this post only received half of the pozole post but people were invested in this post and not pozole. look at the comments. When I posted I would put up stories that I thought important, but knew going in that they would not received record breaking views, however they were important and I knew people that would read them would be....well...how do I put this, more worldly? Not keyboard narcos. they drive the views up, but views on some stories mean very little in the scheme of reaching readers that will learn and share in an intellectual manner. IMO

ReplyDeleteYes, I remember very well but I just spent 20 min looking for the exact comment he made and got lost in other emails, reading them again.
ReplyDeletehe replied something like "It would be my honor to serve Mexico in any way that results in security for its people."
Mireles is the real deal. How does someone get nominated for a Nobel peace prize? If, it were my call, I would nominate the Good Doctor.
DeletePEACE FOR MEXICO! VIVA MIRELES!
AUTHORISED CRIME NO MORE!
. some critics have suggested that it (CARTEL LAND) lacks explanatory context. “That is precisely what I did not want to do with this film,” retorts Heineman. “My goal was to capture the story as it unfolds in real time, as people experience it, through my subjects’ eyes, not outside experts or some official government statement. He adds, with a laugh: “Though the Mexican government did send an attache, wanting to be part of this.”
DeleteAt the heart of the film, is the journey of the charismatic Dr José Mireles, a small-town physician known as “El Doctor”, who founded and leads the Autodefensas in Michoacán. Unimpeachable in his motives, Mireles epitomises the story Heineman thought he was telling when he first arrived: “At first, it seemed to be a tale of good fighting evil.”
But the cruel beauty and philosophical depth of the film lie in its capturing of a very different reality, as the vigilantes themselves are joined – Mireles says “infiltrated” – by gunmen who appear to be former cartel members and who promise rapid progress with their ample weaponry.
Mireles is a complex character who is betrayed by his closest lieutenants. By the final act of the film, the vigilantes “start to become the evil that they are fighting against, in concert with a corrupt government,” says Heineman.
“Things changed, and changed scarily for us, too,” says Heineman, “because we didn’t know who we were talking to. Were they the Autodefensas we thought they were, was it the cartel, was it the police, or the police working with the cartel? What was going to happen? Who can we trust, who trusts us?”

ReplyDeletematt@ourtimeprojects.com
I did not realize I had it as I have communicated with the PR person.
I decided NOT to interview Matt because I was dissatisfied with the film. I did not object to the contents, I objected to the open ended endings.
the AD movement is difficult to understand, to pair them with vigilantes on the US border was horrible enough, but not to at least say, "the AD base their movement on constitutional articles which they feel gives them the right to defend themselves. That sort of thing. not taking a postion, but DEFINING the position.
It was unfair, weak and leaves a project a confusing mess unless one has studies michoacan and ADs.
If Matt did not know who to trust at the end of the film , he is an idiot.
People are complaining is right, most of my firends are asking me to fill end some basics because they hated the film. the first half was good, the second half they were confused, and scratching their heads.
I wanted to contact Matt too visit Doc in prison. to see what he could discover. He should at least do that.
also I have NEVER heard him fill in the missing info. I mena It tells me he knows nothing about what is happening. the history, the complexities, the legality, the castillo vendetta, etc.
Doc continues to get fucked over by those he trusted.
What can we say about Dr Mireles ?
ReplyDeletePosts above mention apathy and lack of interest in this post..Many may feel a total frustration and helplessness at this mans predicament? Many here have been following the AD movement from inception but could any of us foretold the outcome? We know the Mexican gob can stoop low,but the manner in which they remorselessly applied pressure and guile is Machiavellian for sure but even more vicious and deadly? One time when the Dr was first arrested, marches sparked, flickered then blew out,now embers and the good Dr who'd had enough still languishis in prison?
What can we say or do in the face of Pena Nieto,Castillo and their ilk? There was a chance, the AD and Mireles made that chance, but the only ones prepared were the Mexican government, and they couldn't care less about ' the people '
I think we should contact this director of La Ley Del Monte. He understands the Michoacán AD's and is a social activist doing final editing on his AD documentary:

This film, could have been a wonderful opportunity, to show the world..what the doctor and his AD group, are about..and give a better understanding , of it all. It's sad that it could be compared to the American vigilante groups, not to be compared. The film maker lost sight, of the picture. Not sure if it was his lack of insight, into the cause..or....what. It seems he was led astray by the govts intent to deceit and manipulate the groups efforts and meaning. Leading the viewer, many who know nothing about..what's really going on, into a world they think, they are familiar with(criminal organizations in Mexico) and confusing the ones who know the difference. A missed opportunity, to say the least. This is exactly what the groups opposers want. In fact, they helped to create confusion and a loss of opportunity, for the doctor and his group. Who knows what a true film, could have done for the group and its leader? Maybe someone with a better understanding, of the entire picture, should do a film? I hate a bad ending! I also hate it when someone who knows nothing about the story, tries to explain it to others.Misleading, confusing and a wasted opportunity, to set things right!
ReplyDeleteIn fairness, I've not seen the movie and don't live in Mexico. People posting on BB who have and are much better informed than I seem to be disappointed with plenty of the film and the director's lack of background knowledge about his subject. Maybe I should grab some camera equipment to shoot a documentary in a conflict zone like the Congo or Somalia, where I don't speak the languages, would have to rely on hearsay and armed government thugs to keep me safe. That's not honest work. What a waste, too. It sounds like the film confuses itself and has caused more harm than doing anybody much good. Instead of a relevant documentary, it sounds more like infotainment produced for a gringo audience. Mexico's got some of the best filmmakers in the world...hint, hint..:-)

ReplyDeletethat warms my heart!
To those who think Doc has been forgotten it is not true. but you must go on Face Book and other social media, to see the many pages devoted to him or often report on him. the people who follow those pages, are loyal and love this man. MANY are from Michoacan.
But most sires are in Spanish. you won't find them in the US. and i think there is only one in English. He has not been forgotten.
BTW, Lucio has been working on an article for 3 or 4 days now that examines docs situation of those he has placed trust in and who have ended with hurting him. he also examines castillo's plan and vendetta, autodefensa movement, what happened
and also I am allowing for the first time some of the communication doc and I had in the 24 hrs leading up to his arrest. I have given him copies of a couple of emails and texts. I think there were 7 or 8 including the photo that is on my FB page that was my exclusive but it has been used many times since I posted it the day after his arrest. it was taken at the meeting of caleta and aquilla people. his last email and text were at 10;57AM and he was arrested less than 2 hours later.
Such an historic moment to be a part of in Mexico's story, Chivis Martinez! It is equally sad and horrible, and terribly important to have the records of these events kept by valiant people like yourself so the truth can't get lost and buried. PEACE...
DeleteNever forget it was this man Dr Mireles and others like him who basically dismantled Cabelleros Templarios, not the Mex gob,not Pena Nieto, nor Count Dracula Castillo,it was the AD movement made of fed up Mexican people...

"My name is Omar García, and I am one of the students who survived the attack last year in which 43 of my friends and colleagues were disappeared by Mexican security forces. Together with their families, I have started a petition after confirming that the Mexican government lied to us about the whereabouts of my classmates.
They told us that they had been killed and burned at the Cocula dump. They told us that was the truth. But with the release of a new report from an independent group of experts commissioned by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR), we know that the government lied.
There is only one way for us to find out the true whereabouts of our sons, brothers, and friends: the Mexican government must accept the recommendations of the report and allow the group to remain in Mexico to complete the investigation.
We demand that President Peña Nieto receive us and publicly commit to accepting all of the recommendations of the group of experts and that they be allowed to remain indefinitely in Mexico to follow the investigation.
We need this now more than ever. We won’t stop until we find them. Will you?"
