Reporter: Ines Garcia Ramos
The Honduran citizen Evelio Padilla Zepeda, was declared guilty of trafficking 25 kilos of cocaine through a narco tunnel that exits in the All American Canal, North of the frontier between Mexicali, Baja California and Calexico, California.

The man, 28 years old, was presented before a Federal Judge of the United States, William Gallo, this week to respond to the events that occurred on the 25th of April of 2015, when Agents of the Frontier Patrol responded to a report of a person that was found in the Canal that runs parallel to the frontier from Yuma, Arizona to Calexico, California.

The Attorney General of the South District of California, informed in a press release, that the youngster, a resident of Mexicali, could face a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.00 for the crime of possession of cocaine with intent to supply.

Documents presented before the Court, indicate that the man was found in the water wearing a divers wet suit. The Agents apprehended Padilla Zepeda, which led to the discovery of 25 packets, some sealed air tight and others wrapped in Xmas wrapping paper that contained cocaine.

Also they confiscated the diving accoutrement's used by the man, including two compressed air breathing tanks. The detention of Padilla Zepeda derived from the discovery of the narco tunnel that crosses from Mexicali and continues under the frontier until it exits in the canal.

The subterranean passage had a distance of 46 metres.

  1. Billions of dollars that could go toward righting the injustices of the US and Mexican government end in the hands of monsters and legions of toothless skeletons assail me at CVS and other gringo stores begging for food. Soy Mexicano and I know you will not print this because it is the truth. Greetings from tierra caliente the world #1 fuente de kristal.

    1. This is still ant trafficking, I read once about coal trains from mexico loaded with cocaine, Air America airplanes all over the caribbean and gulf of mexico, taesa, mexicana, aeronaves de mexico, and then the american lines planeloads, but of course, these are quality operations, many levels above burros, mulas, pushers and divers, and then, no word about the chemical precursors suppliers, european, chinese and american, just get the money after the pendejos make it from the addicts...

    1. Are you offering your services to Borderland Beat? Will you lead by example and spend your free time doing translations ? the answer is probably no to both. So until you are willing to do exactly that, comments like this will be treated with the contempt they deserve.

    2. And while you are compiling your complaint email to chivis, know this, it wasn't what you said, it was how you said it. Something along the lines of "hey Otis, I think you made a mistake in the translation", would have sufficed. But you had to shout it from the rafters with your caps lock.

I spend a lot of time translating and don't have much time to respond to these comments, so in future if you want some respect, you had better show some to begin with.

    3. Why so antagonistic 'boothang'?
I am sure reporters would appreciate help on a mistake, but come on be respectful, Otis didn't kill anyone. And without him + Lucio where would BB be?

why don't you offer to translate?

You can not say Southern California, you aré implying The SOUTH of California referring to Los Ángeles California. There is My help in translation , where do i sign up to help? Im sorry i said it The way i Did, but your articles do not retain The same Messages as the original articles in spanish . This would help jeep people better informed with the correct information . 1. The article says they found the tunnel first, observed it this guy came through, they were waiting for him. I suspect the USA is carrying out surveys of the drainage into the Canal looking for opportunists like this Honduran

    1. Further more Sr. BF-W, the self proclaimed grammar savant , Mr. Boobthing does not even realize their is not such word as "plead." In fact, proper English is "Pleaded" although "pled" has become common in certain areas. Now that we are done 'picking the fly specs out of the pepper' can we get back on message?

    2. Thank you Millie...but

pleaded, or plead are now both correct, although pleaded is used 9 out of 10 times .

to make a plea of a specified nature “plead not guilty”

    3. Wrong millie, right psyche...
To plead, is not to request, but to agree, not to ask pretty please, but to reckon, to make your case for them that have done it for you, forcing you to plead, just some public declaration, some plead guilty, some plead their love
