El Dandy arrested

Translated by Otis B Fly-Wheel for Borderland Beat from a Proceso article

[ Subject Matter: El Dandy, Tamaulipas
Recommendation: No prior subject matter knowledge required]

Pedro Odiel Villegas Coronado

Elements of the Group for Coordination in Tamaulipas, detained one Pedro Odiel Villegas Coronado, El Dandy, allegedly implicated in the crimes of kidnapping, extortion, and drugs and arms trafficking.

The alleged regional boss of a group of criminals that operate in Tamaulipas, and one of the new objectives of the strategy of State, Federal and Government Security, put into practise this past 13th of May, was apprehended yesterday in Ciudad Victoria together with his bodyguard, Erick Fabian Saucedo Arguelles.

According to the GCT, Villegas Coronado also is accused of diverse violations and homicides in Xicotencatl, El Mante, Aldama, Gonzalez and other towns of the central region and the south of this State.

The possible capture of the criminal was achieved thanks to a special operation carried out by personnel from Sedena, with assistance from Federal Commanders of the central and south zones, two of the four areas of strategy for security.

The two detained were transferred to Mexico City and put at the disposition of SEIDO and the PGR.

The GCT detailed that in past 7 days they have detained 14 members of a band of kidnappers that operate in Matamoros, Ciudad Victoria and Tampico.

Also the detention of these criminals has led to the clearing up of six cases of kidnapping, but they remain under investigation because they are alleged to have participated directly in other crimes of this nature.

This past April, the National Commission for Security spokesman, Alejandro Rubido, assured that of the 15 criminals identified as objectives by the PGR, at this time, 14 have been neutralized and the Federal Forces, have changed the reorganization of the drugs cartels in this region.

Its now been a year since the Strategy for State Security initiated a new phase in Tamaulipas, they established 15 priority objectives from the two groups of criminals that operate in this area, of these 15, 14 have been neutralized, 13 detained and one killed.

According to the Federal Functionary, these actions led to calls for the groups to unite, "that have failed, and it has failed because the effective performance of the authorities, to quickly arrest of kill the replacements brought in to replace those arrested", he said in a radio interview.

Rubido said "there have been two criminal groups that formed at the fracture of a criminal organization in Tamaulipas, Los Ciclones and Los Metros".

He added that "the National Plan for all criminal organizations has been combative".

"In the administration of President Enrique Pena Nieto, there has not been a criminal structure, that have not felt a blow by Governmental action. Simply to cite some names, in the last 13 to 15 months they have detained, El Chapo Guzman, Hector Beltran Leyva, Vincente Carrillo Fuentes, Omar Trevino Morales, Servando Gomez and Victor Aguirre in progress, the operation in Jalisco".

The spokesman of the CNS signalled that since the start of the administration of Pena Nieto, the cabinet for security established a list of 122 primary objectives of which 93 have been neutralized.

  2. Not saying Pena Nieto is a great president, but I will say all the arrest made during his administration is worth noting. I would imagine with all the constant corruption and drug war activities, any president would fall short of focusing on other matters. I see many comments of how awful he is. I would think any person in that role would be unsatisfactory as it seems drug violence has to be the key focus immediately. Yet try to run a country in other aspects while being protector. I don't think anyone could pull that off with a "A" grade.

  12. And how many kilos was this tamaulipendejo caught with not one. Proof enough once again.. Tamaulipas based cartels are not drug cartels but a bunch of low life criminals fighting for their right to a maruchan noodle soup... This is why you here so much hatred towards Sinaloa or snitch aloha like all the haters like to say.. Why? Because you can't take Sinaloa or Durango or chihuahua and Sonora out of the drug game.. This is where everything originated ... All the trash talk you here about sinaloenses comes from tamaulipendejos who are butt hurt that Sinaloa is making all the money.. I've traveled through several states and I can tell you there is no money in Tamaulipas at least you don't see it as much as you do in Chihuahua, Sinaloa or michoacan.

You are more than clueless if you don't think there is huge money that comes from Tamaulipas. Just because that money doesn't stay there doesn't mean that those that make it there don't have it.

A good portion of the wealth created in Tamaulipas shows on the US side, compare the pockets of wealth in the RGV, historically one of the poorest regions of the US, to other areas of the border with Mexico.

    6. The reason the worst criminals of today are rapists, kidnappers for ransom, torturers, extorters and murderers proves one thing:
--their bosses are former military and police, that is all they do, their politician chiefs just send them off to the street to make money for them somehow and to scare the people into submission ...

    7. @9:33.. te calo...it seems like you are really bothered by this comment.. I myself have been to McAllen, mission, Harlingen, Falfurrias, Laredo, as well as across in Reynosa, mier, Camargo , Matamoros, valle hermoso, and sadly I can tell you that though I had fun times here is where I met some of the poorest people I know, some who were involved themselves with local organized crime.. money from drug proceeds is very scarce in this part of the country.. if you want to compare the RGV against other amercian cities close to the border to in regards to narco-economy, I can tell you right now that El Paso, San Diego, Tucson and Phoenix have much larger Narco Economies than RGV.

you are absolutely right.. my family is from sombrerete Zacatecas, and between 2002-2007 my friends and I would buy great powder from some dealers that were getting supplied by the Juarez and/or Sinaloa cartels.. come 2008 the zetas made a big push towards Zacatecas and according to ppl that were in the game the zetas would force many zacatecanos to join them to fight off the Sinaloa cartel through threats and violence.. sinaloas retreated and zetas began selling their shitty cut up coke at higher prices.. if caught selling someone else's product meant a sure death sentence so dealers complied.. then the golfos came and kicked out the zetas.. and the dope only got shittier.. if the zetas sold trash the golfos were straight selling shit.. a dealer I used to know claimed that golfos were going as low as selling crushed mejorales with just a hint of already cut up coke.. man do I wish the old times were back.
