Tijuana: 42 Tons of Marijuana Located by Authorities

Borderland Beat
Nearly 40 tons of marijuana was found by elements of the Municipal Police and the Mexican Army within a warehouse detected in recent days. He said this is an approximate figure that transcended after the Federal Public Ministry yesterday afternoon raided the location.

Unofficially, AFN also learned that more than 39 tonnes were recorded within this "narcobodega", located in the colony “Granjas Familiares del Matamoros”,  where on April 29 authorities detected a  men passing drugs between two trucks, which was of 1.6 tons of marijuana.

Yesterday afternoon, one district judge allowed into the MPF and agents from the Attorney General's Office (PGR), to attest to what was inside, where it had estimated to the naked eye there were 20 tons, but later discovered underground cache,  which raised the figureto more than 39 tons.

In total there were confiscated nearly 42 tons.  If  it were sold in the United States, it would command a  price of $ 50 million.

And in San Luis Potosi-
Meanwhile in San Luis Potosi:

Federal Police seized  2500 kilos of marijuana hidden in a shipment of bananas in San Luis Potosi.

The National Safety Commission reported that the seizure took place at a checkpoint at kilometer 60 of the Mexico-Piedras Negras, in the San Luis Potosi-Núñez stretch.

Authorities became suspicious when the driver of the truck acted nervously.

"In carrying out an inspection, with the intervention of canine support of the Federal Police, one of the dogs trained in narcotics detection, made a positive reaction while in the cargo area."

He added that among the boxes of fruit from Michoacan, were it located 246 rectangular packages wrapped with masking tape, with an approximate weight of 10 kilos each, which contained green grass with marijuana own characteristics

  2. I wonder if there will be protests in Tijuana like the pro-Chapo ones in Sinaloa:
"You must release the marijuana you have confiscated. It provides jobs for our husbands so that they can feed their families."

If you can't feed your family without getting an illegal job that might endanger that family, the right thing to do is have a smaller family, or at least wait until you're ready. I believe that irresponsible parenting is one of the root causes of crime in Mexico.
And yes, I am Mexican, and I do regret having 5 children instead of 2, at age 21 instead of 31.

  5. Nope, the bottom shelf in dispensaries is the left overs that didnt sell so well or over produced crops that the thc levels are off or whatever, the laws in the medical states, if one grows and supplies under contract to the dispensary network, the books are highly scrutinized as to whatwhere and how much, so dispensaries can only have so much for only so long, thc diminishes so the stuff on the bottom shelf is usually there for a handfull of reasons, or the thc levels are low and there fore command a lower price...

I'm not sure how I feel about your comment. It's certainly true that many of the young people who get into crime in Mex are from negligent families who have too many kids to take care of, and it's true that these are the kind of people who can be manipulated into supporting narcos, but remember it's not all of Mex that is like that. It's mostly the smaller, poorer areas like the Sinaloa mountains (Chapo protest) where the narcos help the citizens out so that they will support them.
So, I agree with your point in general (although your English is suspiciously fluent for a native Mexican), but remember not to generalize too much.

    1. Generalize much? Where is your statistical proof? Suddenly the "too many kids" and the "Mexican dirt weed" trolls unite in a perfect storm of racism. There is an only child in Mexico who became a criminal and grows top shelf weed. It brings 'honor' to his family!

The dog sniffs around the area its directed to perform in, if it gets a whiff of a substance its trained to recognize, the animal will sit. This signals to the officer that its a go. These k-9's take there jobs as seriously as humans and dont dick around for a dog treat. Its incredible to watch them work.

Well, the Marijuana plantations found in Wisconsin, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois,Pennsylvania,Kentucky, North and South Carolina, the Virginias, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee,California, Oregon, Washington state, Montana, Nevada and Iowa were owned and financed by American cartels, and the weed seed was imported through Canada not México.

  11. A lot of interesting comments on this thread!
It's true that the birth rate in Mexico is only slightly higher than the US. I think the 'neglected children from immature parents turning to crime' phenomenon is definitely NOT just a Mexican thing; it happens everywhere. I think the life of crime in Mexico is just more lucrative than elsewhere because they have access to the US drug market.
Responsible parenting will DEFINITELY make a difference in a country's crime rate, but statistics show (I don't have a source, this is just heresay) that in most countries, including most of those in Latin America, the age of first birth is going up, people are getting more educated etc. So this may make a difference in the long run.
Don't make the mistake of putting all the blame on Mexican citizens though. The drug market is a network including the drug consumers just as much as the people in the country providing it. We in the US can make a difference by being responsible and NOT using drugs, especially those imported from Mex.

Just another note, a lot of the bigger families I've known in Mex actually take better care of their young because they have a few generations of adults, cousins etc who are take care of each other. I feel like that's the predominant kind of 'big family' in Mex, not the young couple that has lots of kids and no support system at all.

    Cheers!

@7:17 i have to see the intelectual and artistic benefits of smoking, when you are an empty person, no amount of smoking will help you, maybe that is at the root of the chicago school of RASCUACHE ART, and the chicago daily murders, not because somebody smokes, but because the pushers want the buyers, or it's their ass...if you know what i mean, drug addiction feeds the county jails, the mortuaries, the magnet schools, the discrediting of the public school system, state and federal prisons, the drug rehabilitation centers, political careers, and the friends of the Illinois Secretary of State and governors of all political persuasions, and that is before they catch the cash stash, ooops, that never happens, it is all "fines".

So you guys think that mexican narcos are killing each other off over bullshit weed that no one consumes.. please people you guys are stupid, sure this weed is of low quality, but with 20 million american pot smokers I'm sure they can get rid of it no matter if california grows better pot. as a matter of fact a buddy of mine that is a federale in Juarez mentioned to me that about 6 months ago they arrested several people for growing hydroponic marijuana in warehouses, apparently they learned the trade from people that had been growing it in El Paso, whom apparently learned it the trade from people growing in California... so if you happen to think that mexican cartels don't have knowledge of this ... Think again morons.

  17. it is ironic that the most medicated country in the whole wide world, with the most expensive medicines in the whole wide world has to resort to grifa for medical purposes, and that people has to pay 5 times more for exclusive club dispensary garbage and "rainbows" designers' brands, when the idea never was to make somebody rich, the point is to do it, in front of the police's faces, for free and get away with it, now that rich men's sons have transformed smoking into a limpwristed hobby of the rich, the thing of the counterculture is refusing to use or hang with the paris hilton crowds.
the one thing they have, is that the green luggies used to glue the joints are now optional.

I don't think that guy was bad mouthing children at ALL. He was bad mouthing people who have more children than they can afford to raise, who then get jobs as narcos to feed their kids, and who therefore endanger their kids because their enemies might target those kids.
I don't like the fact that he sarcastically poked fun at the Sinaloans who protested Chapo's arrest, rather than just making his point, but his point about responsible parenting is 100% fair. Innocent children have died as revenge against their fathers. Those fathers are partly responsible for their children's deaths because they willingly took jobs that they knew might endanger their families.
So I agree, bringing children into a world that is dangerous for them is immoral. Having children and simultaneously being involved in crime is unfair to those children.

Now, I am not Mexican (and don't think the original guy is either), but my comments here are not racist. They don't just apply to Mexicans; they apply to anyone who puts their children in danger.
I would invite anyone who disagrees with my opinion to please respectfully state yours. I recognize I'm naive about the situation in Mex because I don't live there, so if you prove me wrong I will respectfully admit I am wrong. If what I'm saying comes across as racist, please correct me so I'll know next time.

  20. The cartels pay the weed farmers 30.00 a kilo for their product. They pay 2000 for for a kilo of unprocessed heroin....The Mexi-swag weed is being replaced by cheap black tar heroin. Also, meth production has peaked in Mexico and it's getting harder to bring in the raw materials from China and India. The next places to do Meth mega labs Will be South America and some Caribbean islands.

  21. the only benefit from smoking shit, is that the pushers make money.
-- and that drives the ensnaring of younger and younger children into the habit.
--i agree that the addicted need treatment, but treatment centers only care about their market share, and quite a few promote the use, associated with drug trafficking gangs.
-- pushers need to be punished and exterminated, not be given the illusion that it is legal now and they can carry on like always, only with more inpunity, recruiting younger and younger boys and girls into their shitty business, and from there on to prostitution and harder drugs.
--Believe me or not, i've seen it first hand, it is no fun, regardeless of the potency or quality of the bullshit and propaganda, if you are not sick, why get into the habit? Why get young healty children into the addiction?
--grown ass people with hairy... ideas, can carry on as far as i'm concerned, but i don't think many of them welcome their children getting into it...

then i bought a beer called DIRT CHEAP, the blankety blankety bartender sold it to me, at higher price than other better more expensive brands, plus costs and a tip, "because it was the last one" i know, me hicieron bien pendejo, but i got the dirt cheap beer, and i'll never drink it...
