Mexico has extradited Ivan Velazquez Caballero, alias "El Taliban,"
to the United States, a year after authorities arrested the alleged top
lieutenant of the Zetas drug cartel, officials said Friday.
Velazquez
Caballero, also known as Z-50, appeared Friday before a federal court
in Laredo, a Texas city on the border with Mexico, a day after his
extradition, US prosecutors said.
The 43-year-old is facing trial
in the United States on drug and money laundering charges. He risks a
maximum of life in prison if convicted.
The US Attorney's Office
in Texas said the charges stem from a 2010 indictment accusing Velazquez
Caballero and 33 others with 47 counts including drug conspiracy,
conspiracy to kidnap and kill US citizens abroad, and using juveniles to
commit a violent crime.
Velazquez Caballero faces an arraignment and detention hearing on December 3.
He was arrested by the Mexican navy in September 2012 in the central city of San Luis Potosi.
Authorities
accused him of running operations for the Zetas in four central and
northern Mexican states. Mexico had offered a $2.3 million bounty for
his capture.
At the time of his arrest, a navy spokesman said
sources indicated that Velazquez Caballero had challenged the authority
of Zetas capo Miguel Angel Trevino, sparking a feud within the brutal
cartel.
Founded by military deserters, the Zetas are known as a
vicious gang blamed for much of the violence that has plagued Mexico in
recent years, but authorities have dealt blows to their leadership in
the past year.
Trevino was captured in the northeastern border
state of Tamaulipas in July while his predecessor, Heriberto Lazcano,
was killed in a shootout with troops in October 2012.

ReplyDeleteHope he never gets out of supermax. All the murder, mayhem and misery he heaped upon his country. Rot in hell you sick bastard!
Mexico has extradited treaty with USA , is just another control the USA over Mexico, after all the biggest drug dealers in the World is the CIA (Cartel In America)
ReplyDeleteAre they also going to extradite his brother in law Rafael Ramírez Tamez aka Comandante Globo? Arrested in Tamaulipas about a year ago?
ReplyDeleteGlobo is not entirely "big fish" to mandate an extradiction.
Delete12:42am Yes he is, remember when the retarded fat punk was apprehended he had 321 US dollars, and told the Mexican Marines that he wanted to talk to one of the Cárdenas Guillen brothers because he wanted to buy the Matamoros Plaza, that's the way it was published in the Reynosa newspaper, and he also told the Marines that he was el Taliban's brother in law.
DeleteDEA whack a mole.
ReplyDeleteThis says it all:

ReplyDeleteHa !!! Happy retirement dipshit!!! Enjoy the free sex and the excellent fine dining in jail!!! What's this idiots name again !? Who cares
ReplyDelete12:42pm. He was always known to be a Z commander, running wild with Talibán, he is also a suspect in several murders in Nuevo Laredo, México, including at least two US citizens, and has warrants in the State of Texas for drug trafficking, DEA, FBI and US Marshalls are very interested in him, they got his name on several indictments.
ReplyDeleteLet the snitching begin.
ReplyDeleteEste vato era un achichinkle en los noventas, traia carros chokados de la subasta de Austin y San Antonio. Le pagan unos $50 varos por carro. Aveses compraba barato, se aventa un bolado con otros para aver quine le tiraba nomas.
ReplyDeleteI hope everyone can understand. If los Zetas wanted this man, for whatever reason, his mind, his tactics, experience, whatever, they could've sprung him from prison or ambushed his convoy towards the US and reinstated him back to the ranks but obviously they have no use for him. But why they haven't sprung Commander 40 is a mystery. Someone tell me why haven't they!!!
ReplyDeleteEl taliban was tight with lazca, and against z40,with lazca gone,he took his zetas and went against z40,that is when z40 put word on el Taliban's whereabouts.
DeleteYou don't mess with Judas for nothing,he fucked up all the best zetas with military background, then after 6 months without lazca, ends up getting arrested.Ja Ja ja!
all that backstabbing for nothing,I hope be gets extradited soon. And that he never gets out of an American prison.
we hope dea ask to the mexican mafia about golden gonzalez in laredo texas
ReplyDelete7:08 pm don't worry, DEA already has talked to people that were in Nuevo Laredo when she was murdered and every lead goes to Quico Treviño, law enforcement will interview some of Quico's relatives in Laredo, TX. Quico has already been indicted in the Gonzalez murder and charged in the USA because she was a US citizen, he may be charged in other crimes. This post is about el Talibán only and no one else. Nobody gives a shit about the prison gangs.
DeleteTrevino is up next for extradition
ReplyDeleteIf he Dean's become protected witness in Mexico, he may become protected witness in the USA...
ReplyDeleteTalk,walking barrel of menudo,talk!
The fucked up Mexican gov. will never extradite z40 to the U.S. he has so much shit on high ranking Mexican officials. And all they what El Taliban is to shake him down for some millions and then give him a light sentence.
ReplyDelete6:10 for my quinceañera, the us will jump up and down to get the walking barrel of menudo extradited to the us,el Taliban don't have as many millions because z40 stole all the money.
DeleteIf the Mexican government wants to silence z40,all they have to do is give the job to la ardilla,or to la Barbie, they will do it for nothing...
And what about la Barbie he was protected in Laredo Texas
ReplyDeleteYou're all wrong, La Barbie was under indictment for car theft and drug trafficking. He was arrested, posted bond and escaped to México, got involved with some heavy people, moved to South México and never came back to the US Of America. He is still over there.
DeleteAnd what about los Texas (laredo texas drug dealers)
ReplyDeleteLos Texas are from Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, México, not from the USA, none of them are US citizens. Arturo Martínez aka El Texas was indicted on 5 counts of capital murder in Houston, TX, he allegedly kill some Mexican illegal immigrants. The USA tried to extradite him, but thanks to one million dollars and the political power of well known defense lawyer Miguel Ángel Pérez Barquierena RIP, Mexican Government never answered the extradition request from the US Government. All the Martínez Herrera brothers were the sons and daughters of former National welter boxing champion Kid Texas, who originally was from Coahuila state. Please get the right info before you post a comment.
DeleteUSA tried to extradite El Texas back in 1979.
DeleteSo whats up with El Texas is he out or still in el puente grande? He has been locked up in el puente grande since Chapo escaped from there. He was good friend with Mr.Snitch aka Chapo.
ReplyDeleteDidn't the CDG was reciving help from el Texas people in Nuevo Laredo against the Z.El Texas must be mad angry against the Z for what 40 did to his family and burned some of El Texas houses in Nuevo Laredo.
