The Price Families Pay in Mexico

Recently I have been going through the routine of reviewing the violence happening all over Mexico. This week there was increased violent activities in Valle Hermoso, Tamaulipas. There was one of these incidents that caught my attention. It was the execution of a family along with the family pet, a dog.

The news said it was six people killed, three men and three woman. At least one, a female, appeared to be a teenager. They were found in a field on Rumbo Nuevo road. The bodies were piled up on each other and appeared to have been shot with high power weapons. Most had their hands tied. Most had signs of being tortured, beaten with a blunt instrument. Authorities also found four narco-cardboards scattered alongside the bodies with narco messages.

One of the cardboard read the following: "To those who want to continue to support Mario Pelon in making attacks on the citizens, the same will happen to you, we will kill you along with your dog and your neighbor too for being assholes and for promoting violence, you just say, if because of the blame of other assholes, we will kill your entire family."

Mario Ramirez-Tevino aka "Mario Pelon" or "X-20" of the Gulf Cartel and alleged plaza boss of Reynosa is active in Valle Hermoso.

It is not signed but it is presumed a Zeta action. I was not able to find any other information on the content of the other yellow cardboards. In a discussion on e-mail with an unknown person a couple of days ago there was mentioned of a whole family that had been abducted in Tamaulipas because one of the members was informing on a rival cartels.

Could this be the family?

Did they all pay the ultimate sacrifice because one member dared to talk about another cartel?

Was a neighbor of the family also included in the execution?

So many questions just fill my mind.

The daily cycle of endless mayhem soon starts to become so routine; just a couple more bodies without a head left on an empty blood stained road, more bodies left hanging on a bridge in the dark of an early morning to greet the morning commute, multiple bodies burned beyond recognition stuffed in the trunk because there is no room inside, large groups of people wearing red traffic vests presented to the world for display, trucks and buses left burning on busy streets that cover the blue sky with smoke resemblance of a torn war scene but is merely a playground for warring narcos, and finally this act, the senseless brutal death of an entire family whose only crime was being related to a suspected halcon.

With so much violence, executions and brutality that shocks the conscious, this incident of many probably would not even make it on Borderland Beat, but for some reason this one made an impression of hopelessness beyond words.

  1. You're right about that "hopelessness beyond words." Leaves you kind of speechless, just slowly and sadly shaking your head? nothing to say.

    1. Los zetas are a bunch of coward dirty cockroaches. They kill an innocent family and think their bad ass for it. That's why the lct and matazetas are killing them right to left. Viva lct.

  4. I'm not so sure, but I heard that Los Zetas have significant presence in Valle Hermoso. The Metros and Rojos infighting has left a lot of the Gulf Cartel plazas vulnerable; we'll have to see what happens. The Gulf Cartel will experience some big changes this year.

  8. People that do this are demented and mentally unhinged! They deserve nothing but the fastest death possible and for Mexico to not have a death penalty just laughs in the face of the good people... Mexico has become the devils playground and not having a death penalty means that all the demons are free to do what ever they want to... How can Mexico be so STUPID? It has become such a sickness that some treat the hyper violent maniacs like they are some type of sporting team! they know all the players names and who runs which plaza and they keep score and they even have their favorites! Mexico has lost its mind and all the violence just proves my point... I have lost all hope for Mexico, to me it is a complete and utter failure, it will continue to get worse until other more civilized countries finally realize that what I am saying is true and then there will be a huge military operation made up of many, many countries joining together with one single goal and that will be to eradicate the earth of these evil dirty rotten no good for nothing scum The sooner the better!

  9. What is all this "heating up the plaza" term which so many talk about in regards to the Mexican Drug War?? is it a term for starting trouble? it seems to be used in every fucking news article.

    1. Stirring shit up and yeah basically causing trouble so the police can crack down on the cartel that runs that part of town

    2. Heating up la plaza is as simple as going to a rival cartels turf and kill innocents,so like that the cartel that operates will have trouble with their goverment contacts.Like CDG did in Nuevo Laredo mall, creating problems for the local Zeta Cartel since they (most likely) have an agreement with authorities in Nuevo Laredo.

If your at the wrong place at the wrong time,it could happen to anyone.

i agree with you on so many points but one. it's not just mexicos problem. here in the usa we have so many traffickers, dealers and criminals that if mexican cartels gave the word they could put out a hit on all law enforcement. we would lose half in one week and the rest over time.
do not let the cartel vermin have a nesting site. turn in crime tips so that law enforcement can burn them out.
join as a volunteer posse member at your local sheriffs office. get your ccl, join your neighborhood watch, if you don't have one make one. get a weapon, if you don't have one and train, train, train.

  17. Heating up the plaza is used in two ways. Most commonly, a member of a group makes a mistake in his own territory that brings about an increase in security operations in the area. The recent popular ploy is exporting heat to your rivals territory. You go to his territory, cause a problem, make sure your rival gets blamed now he has problems he did not have before. Hope this helps.

As far as the citizens at large cooperating with the law enforcement, that may make sense in a country like the USA. In Mexico, you run the risk that law enforcement will advise the crooks. When that happens, you wind up dead, tortured or both.

  19. A whole lot of anonymous posters on here. Some if not all of you, especially my brothers across the boarder, need to grow some balls back and take back your country. You have a lot of retarded punks with guns who think they can rule the land and kill whoever they feel like. Take your country back. Wouldn't it be better for them to be dead than your wives, girlfriends and daughters? These are ignorant punks who think they can do anything they want BECAUSE YOU LET THEM! Grow a sack and take your country back before it is too late and we have to drop a nuke or ten just to get rid of the stink.

Please tell us how you would defeat the 30,000 or so sociopathic serial killers that are embedded in the general population of Mexico.

Thanks in advance for your answer.

  24. @ Texas teacher, you need to educate yourself, before you drop a nuke or ten, try to tell all your student to stop smoking marihuana, 'cause I'm sure 90% of the people you know have used drugs at least once in their life and you too, so don't try to act as if americans weren't part of the problem.

"heating up the plaza" is a term used by drug cartels that means bringing unwanted heat or attention to a city a certain cartel controls. Usually rivals "heat up the plaza" so that they will get the attention of the military and or the federal police in order to disrupt cartel activity in the city.

  30. Most people on this blog don't know half of the story of whats happening in Mexico. I live in Mexico and know how these cartels operate. They might be punks with guns but these punks wouldn't hesitate to blow your head off. These cartels are very sophisticated and organized much more than your common US gangs and mafias. So quit trying to solve mexico's cartel problem by giving your ignorant opinion. It's easy to talk s*** from your computer but face to face with one of these cartels you'ld piss in your pants.

  33. @3:16 Im from the northern U.S. and I totally agree with you. Your Cartels are a psychopathethic beast thats far more sophisticated then what we have here. Its coupled with the fact that the police and parts of your Govt are on their payroll. My own opinion is that i dont see what the "war" on drugs could solve. You remove Chapo and Zetas take full control of the north. Is that any kind of result for the people? Drug Cartels cant be stopped. They can only be mildly regulated within a structure of laws that are enforced. Its silly to think anyone can stop the flow of drugs to the U.S. Did killing Pablo Escobar stop the flow? No, another cartel took his place. There simply is no answer to "solve" drugs.
