Mexico Unveils New Weapons Against Corruption

Mexico's own corrupt police officers often hinder the country's fight against drug gangs and organised crime but government officials in the state of Nuevo Leon say they have a plan to get rid of corruption, once and for all.

Along with their physical endurance being put to the test, they are also undergoing a series of lie detector tests and psychological exams ina n effort to become the officers who finally change the state's long history of police corruption.

Al Jazeera's Franc Contreras reports from the northern city of Monterrey.

  4. The real reason for the "drug war" is becoming apparent. Mexico will be transformed into a modern police-prison state similar to the USA.

  5. I guess some pie in the sky bullshit helps to temper the view of a whirling crap storm.

The silver or lead issue was addressed in an around about way. But unless their families live on the compound it doesn't address the join or die angle.

Of course it will take a decent sized staff to monitor the officers and someone will have to monitor the monitors.

  6. This is good so far but they should give them better pay that way there is even more incentive to stay a cop and less likeliness to need cartel bribes.

  8. AUDIT, simple, everything you or your family owns, your cash flow, where does the money come from, what do you spend. First who would run for office??if it wasn't instant money? There are people that truly want to serve as elected leaders without using their office to abuse their way to wealth--there just are not Many!In Mexico there are even Less!!

  11. It will work until the offer comes, "The Silver or the Lead." If you really care about your wife and daughter, you will do exactly as we say. Opps there goes another corrupted police officer. There is nothing the officer can do.
