LFM drug lord suspected killed in clashes

Mexican security forces may have killed a leader of the powerful La Familia drug cartel, a top government official said on Thursday.
National security chief Alejandro Poire said a leader of La Familia cartel was presumed dead in one of many clashes between drug gang members and authorities in the western state of Michoacan.
Asked in an interview on broadcaster Televisa if the leader was Nazario "El Chayo" Moreno, Poire said: "That is the preliminary information we have yet to confirm. It is an ongoing operation."
Since Wednesday night, armed men have hijacked cars and trailer trucks, setting many of them on fire, to block main roads into several cities across Michoacan, President Felipe Calderon's home state.
Bus services into the region have been suspended and hundreds of federal agents deployed in a bid to control what appeared to be coordinated attacks.
Moreno is believed to be the top leader of La Familia, a drug gang that uses pseudo-religious philosophy to justify the grisly murders of rivals and keep its own traffickers from abusing drugs.
He preaches Bible scripture mixed with self-help slogans to gang members and has tried to promote a mystique that is unique among Mexican gangs by claiming to protect the local population.
If his death is confirmed, Moreno will be the second drug kingpin to be eliminated in just over a month, after the killing of the Gulf cartel's Ezequiel "Tony Tormenta" Cardenas on November 5.
La Familia was hit last year by the arrests of two top leaders and is fighting the Zetas and the Beltran Leyva cartel for control of Michoacan's coast, where traffickers receive illegal shipments of chemicals to make methamphetamines.
Mexican authorities offered a 30 million pesos ($2.4 million) reward for Moreno and three more La Familia members.
More than 31,000 people have been killed since Calderon launched his military campaign against drug cartels when he took office in 2006.

El Mas Loco and La Tuta at the same time! This would be a huge strike against the LFM! Can't wait to see if it is confirmed!
ReplyDeleteLa Tuta is rumored to be in California. El Chayo confirmed dead just now.
ReplyDeleteViva el ejercito y la policia federal. Now go get the rest of those scumbags out of their rat holes. I can't believe all the support that this stupid organization gets on blog de narco, there are a few crying overthere. I would say 99% of their income comes from extorting and kidnapping their fellow citizens.
ReplyDeleteWhere is it confirmed he is dead? I heard presumed etc... but nothing stating confirmed?
ReplyDeleteIt has been CONFIRMED.
ReplyDeleteNazario Moreno AKA El Chayo/El Mas Loco/El Doctor is DEAD.
3 other members of LFM were also killed and 3 more detained.
I really doubt la tuta would be in the states, he might as well turn himself and let DEA rape him in the anus . He is on the run as we speak in the michoacan sierra trying to evade death or capture in the hands of the marines or federales.
ReplyDeleteGood. But how come Chapo, Mayo, Azul still running wild? Calderon makes it so obvious he protects Sinaloa. The only reason Nacho fell was because he was getting too powerful and the midget didn't like that. Same thing he did with his cousins the Beltranes. I won't believe this war on drugs until Calderon gets Chapo. It seems more like cleaning house for Chapo than war on drugs. Not to mention the time they had Chapo's wife and let her go! You know damn well they had enough dirt to lock her ass up too.

ReplyDeleteUnfortunately lazcan and 40 are somewhere in central America drinking a beer calling the shots over a nextel. The army needs to kill all their active comandantes to put the hurt on the zetas. Their demise is next, the zetas are now crippled also due to the lack of funds and training.
NO BIG DEAL, SAME OLD CRAP,DIFFERENT DAY. YOU KILL A LEADER,AND 4 COME OUT,ECT........ITS SIMPLE SUPPLY AND DEMAND ECONOMICS............LEGALIZE IT ALL.........OR MAKE IT LETHAL SO ANY JUNKIE CAN JUST DIE FROM IT.....
