9 Members of the Sinaloa Cartel Arrested


Federal Police (PF) yesterday arrested nine people in Nayarit who the federal Public Security Secretariat (SSP) accuses of being responsible for killing two agents of the police agency and of belonging to the Sinaloa cartel.

At a press conference at the command center of the PF in Iztapalapa, Luis Cárdenas Palomino, Regional Security Coordinator of the PF, reported that detainees were captured in Nayarit after a shootout with agents of the PF in which two of them died.

The official explained that the confrontation occurred while they were investigating an anonymous tip warning them of the presence of armed persons in a building. The agents went to the location and were met with gunfire.

The detainees .- Among the arrested are Jorge Antonio Arias Flores, "El Gaucho", who was identified by the SSP as the leader of the organization in charge of logistics and operation of abductions.

In addition to the alleged drug dealers Jesus Martin Fernandez Espinosa, María Concepción Arias Flores, Jorge Humberto Rosas Aldrete, "The Sonrics" Arturo Prado José Márquez, "The Jose" Luis Enrique Torres Muñoz, "El Zacatecas" Rigoberto Romero Pulido Jose Ramirez and Armando Mojica Ramiro Gonzalez Castro.

On the other hand, Luis Cárdenas Palomino also reported that on July 10 in the municipality of Huixquilucan in the state of Mexico they also arrested five suspected members of the Beltran Leyva cartel who were also engaged in kidnappings.

He reported that they rescued two people who had been captive since last May 27. The detainees are Salomón Montiel Hernández, Moisés Mejía García, Félix Mendoza Ramírez, Mauricio Martín Maya, César Gutiérrez and Gloria Amezcua Martínez, "La Güera."
